We got charged for visas onboard even though we had visas already but after a few calls to Guest services the $50pp was refunded. (do people not realize you can just call Guest Services from your cabin and save lining up in long ques)?

    Shush,don’t tell everyone

I get additional OBC without having to pay the club fee. I also dislike that they add both the $90 club fee plus their travel insurance to your quote, and you have to ask to have them removed.

I think there are two different thing being discussed here ?

A TA that has a optional $90 per annum club membership that has a lucky draw monthly for a free cruise,     and,,,,

    A cruise line membership ?

  3. I have been using said online TA for several years and the $90 voluntary club membership was brought after Covid when cruising started up again.

There is a live draw each month for excellent cruise prizes also I have been invited to a couple of high teas plus there are several offers through the year for cheaper cruises than the norm.

There is no extra fee put on any of your bookings.

We have stayed at The Esplanade in Fremantle they have a buffet restaurant for breakfast and usually for dinner depending on the night of the week you are there.  Close to the port taxis not always readily available so I usually book one with the taxi co so there are no probs on the morning of the cruise.  Will be interested in your impressions of the Crown as we are booked on her in 2026 and have not been on a ship that size yet.

We have decided on Port Mill B&B very good reviews on another adviser, I will certainly give my impressions on the Crown when able.

The last bigger ship Iwas on was Majestic nut I love Coral size.

    Hi Carole,

We have sailed from Fremantle twice and stayed at Quest Fremantle both times. Good location and an easy walk to the Cruise terminal (~12 mins). Freo train station is a 2 min walk away, and we caught the train to and from the airport as well. From room 501B we were able to watch the ship come in. Had no issues with Quest and would recommend.

Have a wonderful time! Regards, Leanne

Will look up the train, last time I was in Fremantle the train from the airport was not active,,was it easy enough with luggage ?

    Cheers Carole

We board the Crown Princess in 34 days but I’m sure someone will answer your questions before then!

Sparky how was this cruise ?

I am reading on another platform about broken generator slowing down the ship and therefore missing or shortened time in ports.

I am booked for Northern explorer in November and have got the third time unlucky jitters

,first time Princess sold Sun then the dreaded C struck hope it’s all fixed up soon (not getting any younger)

interested to hear answers to this question as well. I'm a deal shopper so usually go with the cheapest prices but, post covid, if the price difference is small (which it usually is) I have been booking direct with the cruise line. If I do a really last minute cruise then I may grab a cheaper price through an online agent, knowing full well that I won't get any service and I won't be able to reach them to make changes

I use online agent and when Covid hit mid cruise it was no problem for me to get in touch and get help,,same agents have a draw every month for a free holiday for members

Its not necessary to tip, but if you do, you can do it in US dollars. As long as they are notes and not coins the guide can change them at any bank or money changers. I'm sure they get tips in lots of different currencies.

You should take your other foreign money on a cruise with you, I get rid of mine with tips all the time. As long as they are notes, they can change them on board. Or you can pay part of your on board account in any currency.

This chap is on a cruise and land tour with Princess now

  9. Copied from “what’s in port”

Tours can be arranged to visit the nearby villages of Bilbil and Yabob to see traditional clay pots being made or you can explore Madang harbor with a morning harbor cruise. The south Coast road leads to the Balek Wildlife Sanctuary, which has strange fish-filled sulphurous caves, jungle walks, and hot springs. The Sanctuary was also location for filming scenes into he Pierce Brosnan movie "Robinson Crusoe".

    Shopping and Food

A variety of local markets sell artefacts, shell jewelry, cavings and pottery. The main streets, of which there are around 4, are composed of supermarkets or large stores.  People from the outlying islands come in to shop and take their goods back.

  10. We took the ship tour to what they call the “festival” found it good value for money for a couple of hours, we waited a lengthy amount of time for the return bus with no shade it’s a few years ago so things may have changed.

I personally wouldn’t walk to far in this port.

Got our money exchanged at our Westfield shopping centre and I saw some queuing onboard th change money.

    Hi

    sorry this is a moan.

my present credit card insurance is with Bankwest and since Covid it gives you practically nothing.  No cruise cover and no

cancellations unless you upgrade it and on our last cruise that cost $800.

so decided to try for an ANZ credit card,  good information on CC.  Applied and kept sending required documents

and being asked for more and more info.    I get two pensions each month plus my superannuation which I have to draw down.

but they keep asking for more,  I now need a statement from the UK regarding my pension, even though they can see on my bank statements for the last ten years that I receive one.   My patience are waning.   But it is worth it if they finally give me one.

has anybody had the same issues!

    eileen

NAB have a debit card that offers complimentary travel insurance, there is a monthly account keeping fee but it’s cheaper overall than some credit card insurance

    Cheers Carole
