There is a way to avoid having your money tied up. Keep it in the cabin safe and only pay what is required on the last night. Take the rest home. This also saves the cruise line the administrative cost of processing the refund.

I got the idea from somewhere you were obliged to either give them a  credit or debit card or cash upfront ?

We were told in the past that anything over $25 would be refunded by cheque. Therefore it would probably be better if Judithann waited until the last day then only put enough money into the account to cover any debit balance. We have done that on occasions.

Why would they do that ?

If I gave them cash to cover I would want the cash back and not wait for months to get my money back, a nice little earner for them that is.

Well done in asking Princess about it and that's really good of Princess to give the credits to you as they didn't have to.

    Enjoy the extra spending money.🙂

I know they didn’t have to do it I think it’s so good of them and will thank them with my continued loyalty (It will be such a sacrifice to book more cruises)

  4. For reasons I won’t get in to my husband will not be cruising with me on the 6th Feb to NZ and I am now traveling with a friend.

He had cruise credits which were rolled over a couple of times from 2020 which he will not be using before they will expire so he emailed Princess to see if he could “give” them to me and in the space of 24 hours they are now in my account (how good is that)

If anything, the most disappointing aspect has been discussed here as well as being mentioned in some of the reviews - check your folio regularly, as there is likely to be charges there for drinks covered under the package, or for items already prepaid. Having to queue at the service desk for this is a failure, and something that would peev me more than any other issues mentioned.

I was overcharged three times on a three day cruise, each time I called them and it was fixed up immediately.

Did not intend to spend what little time I had onboard standing in a queue.

Not the A1 Budget Ibis, apparently there's another Ibis somewhere, maybe that one has a restaurant. We found an Indian restaurant about 10 mins walk away so went out for some fresh air when the rain eased off and got takeaways 😋

Glad you found something suitable for you.

Things will look better in the morning and hope you have a lovely smooth enjoyable cruise

Well, I've always stood up for Princess and their protocols and offers to passengers re covid but now I have nothing but comtempt for them.

At 10.20am this morning, while we were on a flight from NZ to Brisbane, they sent an email saying the cruise was delayed until tomorrow. We couldn't access our emails so didn't find out until we arrived at the cruise terminal.

Now the rub - we, in a foreign city, were told to book and pay for our own hotel accommodation and our own transport back to the terminal tomorrow and make a claim through our travel insurance! The staff kindly booked the A1 Ibis Budget at the airport for us since that and the Novotel (which they couldn't get through to) were the closest.  No restaurant or food outlets on site and nothing within walking distance.

    Princess' booking terms states -

    Changes outside Our control

If it is necessary to change the itinerary due to safety, maritime law, severe weather, to protect human life or health or other factors outside Our control, We will attempt to offer a revised itinerary as close as possible to the original itinerary. We will not provide any compensation in connection with the revised itinerary unless Consumer Laws require otherwise.

I'm totally disgusted at their treatment of their booked passengers who in good faith travelled to and arrived at the terminal as scheduled. If we were late for the Princess cruise they would have said "sorry you missed the ship". Their ship is late and they say "sorry, you're on your own". 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

Sorry for your predicament but I think you will find there is a restaurant on the ground floor of the Ibis

    The  1Cover policy says:

    "Medical Covid Cover Included

This is to certify that the above mentioned covered travellers listed on the Certificate of Insurance are insured under this policy for the destinations and periods stated. This policy provides cover for overseas hospital and medical expenses if a covered traveller is positively diagnosed with Covid 19 by a qualified medical practitioner."

I take this to mean that the Covid cover starts on the first day you give for travel, which would be the first day of your trip, but not before.  I think that means that if you get Covid in the week before you travel, you wouldn't be covered for cancellation.

The date stated would be the date you took cover.

Crew on Coral is nominally 895. Given that 114 have tested positive, roughly 13% of the crew have tested positive. That is significant, but they are of no risk to the current passengers while in isolation. They do wear masks in passenger areas, but it would have to be different off-duty below deck.

These jocks know how to wind their audience up, and base their stance on that. You can't reason with stupid either.

Just realised I said 1% and not 10, he will love pointing that out

Just now on 2SM, today's "shock jock" has gone hysterical on Coral. I would like to listen to responses to see if anyone from cruise industry will call to refute everything he has said (as it was almost all wrong) but I have to leave home now for an appointment with a TA.

    Just sent him this email

Hi Brent, the amount of staff on the Coral is 1000 not 2000,,so roughly 1% have Covid
Princess have done everything possible to keep people safe,I did not see one member of crew without a mask on my 3 day cruise where most passengers complied with mask wearing but you can’t fix stupid and some didn’t
Exactly the same on a aeroplane, bus or train except on those modes of transport you don’t have to have a rat test.
So stop with the bagging of the cruise

We enjoy a show by a good comedian. The best thing I can say for the one on our cruise, is that he provided a topic of conversation throughout the cruise. Unfortunately, I didn't hear of anyone who had an opinion other than very negative.

I don't think that anyone booked on the Coral Princess should be concerned that he will be doing more shows.

They are scraping the bottom of the barrels I suppose because the more talented entertainers have found alternative positions or even changed careers during all the stoppages

Lets hope they can do better soon

I don't think the comedian will get another contract.

What was the name of the comedian?

We thought the comedian on our 23\26 was great,Jeff Green he’s been at it for years, we went back for a second time and only one joke was repeated.

The guitarist/singer in the atrium was abysmal couldn’t sing and didn’t know the words.

    Cheers Carole
