  1. Well....we finally finished looking at all of the cabin pictures from zydecocruiser last night.

I am really glad that they haved moved the divider to make those 9A's on 8 have the wrap balcony. But.....we are still disappointed in the cabin itself. It appears to be very small - compared to other 9A's we have had on other ships. We are very familiar with 9A's and expected it to be oddly shaped and the lay out to be unusual - compared to regular cabins - but we never expected it to be small :o. And it certainly is NOT the cabin - size or shape - that is still on the deck plans .

Now that we have seen the great photo layout of so many cabin types thanks to zydecocruiser we are really glad that we changed to the Cat. 11 when the first set of pictures was posted.

It is disappointing that we still have not heard anything from Carnival and at this point I will be surprised if then send us a bottle of wine for our aggravation . But - at least we know that we have made a good choice - for us - when we changed the cabin. Yes - we will miss the aft and the wrap balcony :(. But we still think the change was the thing to do.

Thanks all involved in this process........jetwet1 for identifying the problem, all of you who helped us sort this out and to zydecocruiser for helping us "see" the outcome of the decisions that we made!!

Happy cruising for all :) :D

  2. I asked DH about this (he handles all the bookings/finances, etc for cruises) and he said the Dream 9A was "about" the same as our Miracle aft wrap...he thinks the price difference is because it's a new ship.:confused:

Yes....new ships sell at a higher rate that the older ships - just because they are "new" :o

  3. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the pictures! Not too different from a 9A on the Glory on deck 7. I feel a great sense of relief now! I can live with that cabin, but can't believe they even tried to make the one on deck a cabin for 2!

Yep....also similar to the 9A we had on the Splendor.

The 9A's are often "odd" in shape and size - but these photos do look similar to other 9A's we have enjoyed!!

  4. Thanks for posting the pictures. That is our cabin for the 11/15 sailing. Just to clarify, are the balcony doors where the curtains are drawn by the desk? I think I have strayed too far-it's back to Spirit class aft wrap balcony cabins for me! :p:eek:

Yep...the Spirit class aft-wraps are beyond compare :D. But.....they are also categorized as suites :( which definatley bumps up the price ;).

  5. I certainly don't think I should have to pay anything extra for any changes...should I? I'll report back as the day develops, if I hear from my PVP. I'd just like to resolve it while there are still cabins available.

That is how we felt. We were afraid that the longer we waited the fewer choice we would have !!

  6. No resolution yet. I'm working on it today. Booked over a year ago... and here I am trying to make a bad situation good. Frankly, for me it isn't "compensation" at this point, it is a cabin that we can live with. The resolution I will be satisfied with is a regular balcony with OBC (and lots of it) or an upgrade for us at no cost. I'm probably dreaming thinking they would do either of these. Guess that's fitting since the problem is my cabin on the Dream:mad:

    Yep...I hear "ya !!

You are exactly where we were a week or so ago :(. The only thing I have been successful with - so far - is that when we moved they gave us the early saver rate on the new cabin (as though we had booked it - when we originally booked the 9A).

I specifically asked my CVS the other day if she thought that they were dragging this whole thing out hoping that we would just give up . She assured me that SHE was not going to let that happen. So.....everyday I send her an email to check the status. Everyday I hear "nothing yet"...but I will keep trying!

  8. just so you are aware, we had 8466 and the purser can only offer COMPENSATION based on information recieved from Miami. We were on a 12day cruise and they only got two responces the whole time.Do not let them blow you off now or you will spend your vacation at the pursers desk!!

Yeah...those of us who have contacted Carnival while you were gone are getting the same run around. Everyone agrees that "compensation is due" - but no one has come through yet .

  9. Thank you SO much for all of your information. I certainly am not getting what I paid for, and will see if adjustments can be made in our booking. Seems there are only two cabins with problems on this huge entire ship, and I'm not certain how I wound up with one of them!!!! Murphy's law, I guess.

Did you ever receive any compensation? That's about as good as you could get once onboard I would think. I'm going to try my hardest to have my cabin changed. I'm sure our cruise will be sold out as it is NYE. Ugh:(

Any luck?? I know a week or so when I called about our sailing for January 30 - there were not a whole lot of choices :(.

This whole this is so frustrating....

  10. We had this cabin on the Oct 3rd sailing. I will post pics once I upload..but..the cabin is small..the bed basically going up to the outside wall so walking past at night I had quite a few bruises. No sofa and the desk is around the corner and felt like dead space. That is where the phone was and was inconvenient. Especially because if it rang you had to jump over the bed to get to it. The balcony is definately not a wrap. I made a complaint on the ship and will follow it up with a letter. I would certainly NOT pay the 9a rate for this cabin but the balcony is definately larger than a normal one. I would actually take 8462 as it got most of our WRAP..lol..I snuck in and will post those pics later also..

I must say though, the ship is gorgeous and we loved EVERY moment...if you want the wrap take 7 or 9...6 is nice but you can hear the shows going on!!

Thank you for coming back and helping us with information to sort through this mess :(. I am sure that your photos will help people decided what - or what not - to do.

I am sorry that the cabin was such a disappointment - but I am glad that you enjoyed the cruise. I look forward to the interior photos of your cabin and I wish you the best as you fight for compensation!

  11. I was just on the Carnival website and noticed that both deck 8 - 9a cabins are gone. I don't think they are booked as I am sooo far from sailing and a couple of days ago they were both there. Both deck 7's are there, and the other deck 6. Wonder if Carnival is going to change the category?

(Just thought it was an interesting tidbit to share) :o

    Hmmmmmm....that is interesting. Thanks :)!!

  12. I really wish that we were not all having to deal with this!

I do think that DH and I made a great decision - based on the information that we have at this point. We usually only take one cruise per year and I would hate to have paid what we did for the 9A and then be miserable :(.

Don't get me wrong......I am definately "ticked off". I understand that the reality of the built ship does not match the speculated deck plans - and how that can happen. But....come on Carnival, where is the courtesy of contacting those of us who had those cabins booked to inform us - and give us a choice.

We should not have to find out that we would not be getting what we thought we booked from a forum site  . That is the one thing that my CVS is upset about - that I was able to get the information BEFORE she was and she had been asking for over a week by the time the photos were posted .

Oh....its all good now. But some folks who do not keep up with CC are in for a BIG surprise!!

  13. That'd be nice.

Spoke again to the 1-800 carnival lady, tape recorded ("this call may be monitored or recorded for QC purposes"), had a nice hour long convo with her (then her supervisor) and the original lady (direct quote) "I guarantee 8473 has a couch"

    interesting...

I virtually held her hand and had her go to John Heald's blog... she is going to talk to HER supervisors tomorrow and call me back then. She confirmed all the 9As are booked (not just a courtesy hold) :-( for my cruise...so I'm not sure what do do here. They were very adamant of "Carnival is the source of the deck plans, they're not wrong"...you know the story.

So NOT all the PVP / CVS people are aware of the situation re: Dream 9A cabins.

I wouldn't mind finding ourselves in one of the Cat11s on deck 7... But I'd RATHER get waht the heck I'm paying for with the 9A!

Yeah...same thing here. I have "escalated" my complaint up 3 levels and now I am waiting for resolution .

We have upgraded to a Cat 11 - but I agree....we would MUCH rather have the 9A that we thought we were getting :(!!

  14. Has anyone posted any pictures of the wraps on deck 8 besides those four from the very first cruise?

Keep an eye on zydecocruisers pictures ;).

It is quite possible that he will "sneak in" and take pictures - especially between his B2B's. He took a lot of cabin pictures when he provided similar pictures of the Splendor.

  15. 24 hours after I switched from 8473, it appears that somebody else has booked it for my cruise on December 3. Obviously not a cruise critic reader.

Yeah...the one we switched from is gone too.

Boy oh boy are they in for a BIG surprise !! I am sure that they think they have snagged one of the best . Bet they find CC after they get back to post the complaint....

  16. Would you risk it if your had 8473 booked for jan. 2011??? I'm thinking there is plenty of time to change.....

IMHO......They are never going to be able to fix the size of the cabin :( - and there is some question as to whether or not they can - or will - move the divider .

If you have already made the decision that 8473 is not going to work for you - then I would go ahead and change.
