Cruises are resuming so this is all just becoming unnecessary noise. This morning Carnival revealed that even they foresee vaccinated cruises being the path forward for now. So they join RCI, Celebrity, NCL, Princess presumably since they are requiring them for Alaska along with many others. No word from MSC but do they ever say anything related to US cruises? At some point hopefully soon the cards will fall and we can move on.

I do find it odd that MSC has been SO quiet. I thought with their successful relaunch in Europe that they would have been leading the pack! 🥺

Is it not a case of avoiding test cruises by going for other option of vaccination cruises and thereby earning money.

But….choosing the fully vaccinated option gets them sailing sooner because that option does not require the test cruisers.

  3. Does anyone else find it odd that MSC has been SO quiet about their plans to relaunch the US based itineraries??

I would have thought with their successful relaunch of ships in Europe that have been up and running for months that they would have been one of the first lines back operating from the US ports.

    Thoughts??

im truly sorry about your mixup, but how can you now yell
"bait and switch"  when the cabin description clearly states no out door hot tub?

you have a huge cabin with a huge balcony on a brand new ship. please stop crying in your beer.

plus, since you added "see photo" there is nothing in that picture showing a tub on the patio.

ive priced the prima for multiple cruises, and i'm sure youre paying a small fortune.

why dont you just enjoy the cruise with what you already have, enjoy the amenities of the haven category, i'm sure that  there are probably 1000's of other cruisers that would wish to have this problem

That statement was NOT in the description when the bookings opened a couple of weeks ago.  It appeared in the last few days.

That being said....I do not think it's a "bait and switch situation" - the ship is being built.  This is one of many things that will be different by the time the Prima is launched.

Thanks for all of the posts and links.

Question.  There seems to be little discussion of the Haven being moved to the aft.  Although it appears beautiful, with some need upgrades to the Haven experience, we've never sailed aft, especially on NCL's Haven and MSC Yacht Club stateroom so elegantly perched atop the bow of the ship.

I guess we'll have to wait for some reviews.

    Again, thanks.

We LOVE the aft - booked Haven aft penthouses usually.  Yes it was a walk to the Haven area - but we enjoyed seeing the rest of the ship on our way to or from the Haven area.

IMO, 2 of the biggest advantages of the Haven being moved to the aft that I see are:

    1.  Spectacular views from all Haven venues

    2.  Less wind that you have being forward.  Sitting out on the sundeck you will not get all beaten up by the wind!

Did not plan it, but the fever got me.  Cancelled our Encore sailing in Jan 2023 and picked up the Prima sailing in Feb 2023...Suite 14320.  Very pleased.  Hate the wait, but have 2 sailings in the interim.

Same thing happened to us!!  Cancelled our Epic 2/5/23....and picked up the same week on the Prima!

FYI, I just checked the September 2022 transatlantic. Showing as sold out as of a few minutes ago:

    • Studios
    • Spa balconies
    • Aft-facing balconies (regular and large)
    • Club Balcony Suites
    • Aft-facing Suites
    • All Haven categories except the 2-bedroom family villa

Wow...but I am not surprised.  The demand and interest in cruising in general along with new ship TA sailing made it VERY attractive!

And so many different categories with just a few rooms per grouping...

Aft Facing Balcony — 2 cabins

Aft Facing Suite — 2 cabins

The Haven Aft Facing Penthouse with Large Balcony—2 Cabins

The Haven Aft Facing Penthouse w/ Master Bedroom spans 5 decks with 1 room per deck.

Yeah - I've always thought that the "expanded categories" felt like a money grab! "Oh, those large balcony cabins seem very popular, let's charge more for them!"  🙄

Hello friends! It's been a while.. and eh, 2020 did not start very well for the golden era of cruising. :classic_mellow: Hopefully all of you are okay and thoughts and prayers for those who are challenged in these tough times.

And as we all quietly or anxiously await any positive news about our shared passion, cruising.. and with almost no news about Leonardo class I still had to start a Live! thread!

Because, I present you... the first inside render of Leonardo! (hopefully it's right, it sure looks like an end product and not the artist gone wilde render stuff and plus all the other links containing this photos seems to be poofed away..:classic_biggrin:)

My guess is that this is the Atrium, we can see a bar or Guest Relations/Shorex desk, perhaps there's an internet pc there on that table. There's an elevator bank on the lower right corner, etc.

Thanks...this is awesome!  I am looking forward to following this thread closely.

We just booked the Prima on Wednesday for February 5, 2023 and we LOVED following your Bliss thread as she was built and launched. It was the perfect way to stay up on the happenings and pass the time until it was our turn to sail!

  10. We also REALLY enjoy the YC pool deck breakfast and lunch offerings.  So, we divide our time between the dining room and the pool deck - depending on the itinerary, port choices and activities planned for the day!

CC is no longer supported by Tapatalk.  If you use on your mobile device, CC states to use your browser.  I know this does not help but the answer is still no.

I know that was the original intent - and the app kinda died.  But now you can see all current posts - which is awesome.  But it seem that you can not log in to participate which is frustrating!

It is 5:00 on Eastern itinerary and 7:00 on the Western itinerary (at least on March 2 and 9, 2019).

FYI.....I'm told by TA - that with no real announcement because it doesn't change the all on board time - MSC has changed all of the departures from Miami to 4:00 pm.

She also stated that they do not seem to be updating the documents or the website to show the change!  :classic_rolleyes:

I don’t think there’s any financial gain with the promo sailings - it costs NCL a bundle to offer them.

My suspicion - NCL was overly optimistic after the Bliss launch (those Alaska sailings were near capacity and at HIGH rates) and thought they could toss 2 more similar ships into the mix and simply ride the prior promotional coattails.

Based on the endless Joy promos... I’m thinking things haven’t gone as planned, and now they’re anxious (desperate?) to pump some new promotional $$ into these ships.  I can’t think of any other reasonable explanation as to why they wouldn’t have planned for these “industry” cruises in the first place.

Could be!  But either way it's $$$ - or the fear of losing $$$ - that is the reason for the change, I'm sure.

I agree the wording is confusing. I was in the same boat and had the same question and based on my one time experience, the answer is yes, NCL would pay (up to a cap).

I was on a recent NCL cruise that was canceled half way (Jade Thanksgiving). We chose to forgo the free charter flights and travel independently and NCL paid for our flights back to Miami, full new fares, not change fees.

I hope you're right....but as blcrusing already posted - that is not usually the way it works. NCL seems to focus only on "change fees"  which the new reservations would not be for those who now have to book flights home to Florida.
