Just wow.  Some really poor planning by heads at NCL.  I mean, new ships are regulars now.  They should have this down to a science.  These press things happen.  Why in the world would they take bookings and then screw their customers later.

Agreed...it's not like they are new at this whole "new ship" thing! I'm guessing somebody must waived some BIG money at them to add the promotional sailings!

I’m on that sailing.  I wonder what the actual itinerary will be?  Will we still stop

in the Azores, or will the cruise be 9 days at sea?  On the bright side, I live two

    Hours from Manhattan.

I believe the only change is the last leg from NYC to Miami being eliminated so that the ship can stay in NYC for some other promotional cruises.

Solid customer service would cover change fees, fare differences, etc, without the need to write a letter, respectful or disrespectful. NCL initiated the change. See, that is what solid customer service is. You make an unscheduled change, inconvenience your guests, and then own it, not stuff some irresponsible offer at them. It's easy to be average. It's hard to distinguish yourself with A+ service. NCL continues to set a very low bar, here.

They did this to us on the escape, too, when it was in Miami. Four months from sailing, they chartered it the week we were booked and moved us to the following week.

Wanted to cover up to $300 change fees per person but Southwest doesn't have change fees. The rub was that the airfare cost for the week following the charter was $100 per person more than the week we had booked, and there were four of us travelling. Plus, we had our week of vacation approved by our employer. It was huge mess all NCL wanted to talk about was change fees. They could have owned the issue and paid us $100 per person ( not $300) to cover the higher cost for us to meet the ship, and resolved the issue, but no, they held firm.

    Exactly my point!

I think they choose their words VERY carefully and choose to only deal with "change fees" and not the costs associated with solving the issue for others like you are negatively effected.  Sadly, NCL has proven on multiple occasions recently that their bottom line take precedent over customer service! 😕

In General, NCL is very reasonable with compensation. If you treat them with respect and submit a receipt and NCL will pay it. Call up and yell and scream,,, write hateful words in a letter asking for compensation, you won't get anything.

A flight from NYC to MIA booked today will cost ya $152. Send at receipt and NCL will pay it.

We have been on several NCL cancelled and changed cruises (2 in the last 3 weeks), and have always been compensated for any reasonable claim.  Even if it greatly exceeds what is offered in the letter. For example, NCL cancelled one of our cruises and we had to rebook flights from the US to London. There was a $300 pp change fee on the ticket plus nearly $500 in additional fare for booking on short notice. We submitted a receipt for nearly $1600 and they gladly paid it (>>> $600 promised in the letter). Plus they paid for extra hotel nights in London after they changed the date a second time.

    I respectfully disagree.

I’m glad you feel you’ve been treated fairly. I - and many others - do not feel the same.

if you take the time to read the original post, you can find the answer.

Umm....I am the OP - so I know what the original post says!!  🙄

The letter refers to “flight changes fees”. Doubt that applies to any new flights that now have to be booked because of the itinerary change to get people home to Florida.

I'm not on this sailing but I have a question for anyone who would know....

It states that NCL will cover fees for a flight change but what if a guest lives in Miami and had no flight to change? Would NCL cover the full cost of a flight?

Wonder if NCL is going to help pay for flights for those that live in Miami and now have to fly home, but would not have needed flights home when they were ending in Miami??

looks like they are planning travel agents events in New York and then Miami  like what they did with the Bliss

Crappy way to do it - after they release an itinerary and take bookings!

They’ve also notified those holding reservations for the 11/17 sailing out of Miami that it has been CANCELLED!!

If NCL changes anything they will email you

Usually - but not always!!  When our Escape itinerary had several changes - due to Florence - a few weeks ago there were several in our group that never received any official notifications from NCL.  :classic_unsure:

What happened to the APP ? Not working on my I Phone.

It was discontinued with the update.  They say there will be a mobile version - but I haven't seen anything yet!

    I’m really missing the app😢

Yep...me too.  I almost never logged in from a desktop - so without an app I will not be checking in very often.

I logged on today to try to take the extra spaces out of my signature.  Can't seem to make that work either! 😕

  11. Thanks for sharing this. I never pay attention to the news the top of the page, so I wouldn’t have known.

It mentions that after these changes, the cruise critic app will no longer be used. I wonder what will take its place? That’s basically all I use.

Yep...let's hope they are rolling out a new app too!
