  1. I haven't received any of these offers recently. After getting these offers awhile back I did book a South America/Antarctica 22 night cruise for next month, Jan. 2024. All I paid was $510 in taxes and fees a substantial saving. I've taken advantage of it while I can but would be nice to get more offers, lol.....
  2. I tip using $2 bills. Funny story, on Princess last July I gave the pizza guy, a young Kenyan kid, a $2 bill. As I was leaving he was looking at it wondering if it was real. I told him, don't worry it's real! Lol.....
  3. Enjoying your reviews everyday. I'm booked on the January 29 cruise. Thank you.....
  4. When we went to Glacier Bay National Park in July, someone mentioned only 2 cruise ships are permitted per day. True or not I don't know but this may be part of the reason.
  5. Carnival has totally rebuilt and refurbished 2 ships in the recent past. The Carnival Destiny became the Sunshine in 2013 and the Carnival Triumph became the Sunrise in 2019. These 2 ships are almost totally new ships. HAL could do something on these lines but I really don't think they will anytime in the near future but maybe something to consider.
  6. I have a promotional fare for a South America/Antarctica cruise and I purchased the HIA package at $50/day. Originally I tried to purchase the HIA using my Safari browser on my Mac and I message would pop up saying my fare I wasn't eligible for the package. I later tried to purchase the package using the Firefox browser on my Mac and it worked. If you're having problems purchasing try another web browser.
  7. I'm taking the January 29, 2024 cruise on the Oosterdam, looking forward to it. Thanks for the information. I will probably be spending a lot of time on the promenade deck, I have an inside cabin. Couldn't turn down the fare, all I had to do was pay the taxes.
  8. I was just visiting Key West last week. From talking to the locals Key West only allows 4 ships on 4 different days per week. When I was there the Carnival Glory was there on Tuesday Oct. 17 and the Virgin Scarlet Lady on Thursday Oct. 19. These aren't the largest ships but by no means smallest ships.
  9. I received these offers awhile back. I booked a 22 night South America/ Antarctica cruise for just paying the taxes, $510. Awesome deal considering a cruise of this type costs thousands! I did have to pay airfare and hotel costs, etc. but I probably wouldn't have chosen this particular cruise if I wouldn't have received this amazing discount!
  10. There are 12 single Oceanview staterooms on the Nieuw Statendam. They are located in front on the main deck. You could ask for one of these cabins or ask to be put on a waiting list. These cabins are usually difficult to book and I don't know how much you would save if you can book one.
  11. I received a free cruise offer awhile back and booked the 22 night Antarctica cruise. I booked a solo and was charged taxes & fees for only 1 person plus a $100 deposit. I’ll receive the deposit back as a $100 OBC. I also managed to purchase HIA package for $50/night. This was not a casino offer, not a gambler.
  12. If you're trying to purchase HIA on the HAL website and you get the message that your fare is not eligible, try using a different browser. Using the Safari browser I received this message. I then tried Firefox and it worked, $50/night. I had an extreme promo fare where all I had to do was pay port taxes and fees and I was still able to purchase HIA. I'm also going as a single and I did not have to pay double for a single cabin.
  13. After I booked my free inside cabin I was able to book HIA package online for $50/night. Since I am a solo cruiser and have my own cabin I only had to pay port taxes and fees for I person, not double.
  14. I got and offer last year for some cruise but instead of being free it was $200 for an inside or outside cabin. Took them up on the offer and booked the Rotterdam Halloween cruise. Since I had credits given to me from HAL because of cancellations because of covid I actually got the cruise for free, they didn't even charge me any taxes of fees, free! About 10 days or so before the cruise receive an email for an upgrade for a balcony, $198 obstructed view or $398 unobstructed. Called right away and moved up to balcony obstructed view better location then unobstructed. Once on the cruise Hurricane Nicole comes around, couldn't dock in Fort Lauderdale the day of return so a 10 night cruise turned into an 11 night cruise. Thankful I live in Florida and can drive to the cruise port. Turned out to be a really nice cruise and the Rotterdam is a beautiful ship!
  15. Booked a South America/Antarctica 22 night cruise a couple of months back after I received one of these offers. All I paid was $510 port taxes and fees and the same $100 booking fee. Also received $200 OBC. I do not gamble and I am only a 3 star mariner. Couldn't believe my luck, this is a multi-thousand dollar cruise! Good thing I'm retired, lol....
  16. If the Saudi's purchase Holland America or not, even if they don't I believe the writing is on the wall. How Carnival Corp. does this nobody really knows. They could always move the Pinnacle class ships to Princess and retire maybe the Grand Princess and the Golden Princess. Just pure speculation on my part. Definitely wouldn't be booking a HAL cruise for 2025 anytime soon even though they put the schedule out a few weeks ago. I am booked on a 22 night cruise on the Oosterdam in January 2024.
  17. Sometimes using a different web browser or a different device will let you purchase HIA. I couldn't purchase it using the Safari web browser, kept getting a message my fare didn't qualify. I tried using Firefox web browser and I was able to purchase it without any problems.
  18. No casino promo, I don't gamble. Did a 10 night cruise on the Rotterdam last Halloween. They were offering $200 inside or outside cabin. I had $600 in cruise credits and HAL didn't even charge me the port taxes and fees. Kicker is about 10 days before the cruise received an email offering an obstructed balcony view cabin for $99. Since I was going alone I paid $198. Even received an extra cruise day because of Hurricane Nicole. When I received an email for the Antarctica cruise for January I couldn't pick up the phone fast enough! When you get these offers there is a 3 letter code and when you call you give them the code along with your mariner number. I'm sure these deals are capacity controlled so if you get one of these emails call right away!
  19. I cancelled a couple of tours and then rebooked them a little while later to get my HIA discount!
  20. In order to get these private fares you need to receive an email. There will be a list of cruises for free inside cabins. The only thing you'll pay is port taxes and fees. I month or so ago I received one of these emails and booked a 22 day Antarctica cruise on the Oosterdam next January and all I paid was taxes and fees. Today I was able to purchase HIA for $50/day. It wouldn't work on my Safari browser, message said fare didn't qualify, so someone mentioned to try a different browser. Tried Firefox, bingo, it worked. These emails contain a 3 letter code you must mention when you call and also give them your HAL past cruise number.
  21. I did go ahead and purchased the HIA package but had to use a different browser. Safari wouldn't work so I used Firefox.
  22. Only question I have now is I've already purchased shore excursions. If I purchased HIA will I receive credit for these excursions or do I have to cancel them and rebook?
  23. I am unable to book the HIA online for my cruise next January. I do not have a casino rate but a special offer for a free inside cabin, 22 night Antarctica cruise on the Oosterdam. Booked a special fare last year on the Rotterdam and the HIA was available. Not sure if the HIA is worth the price, HAL doesn't include gratuities like Princess. I would have to drink a boat load of drinks to make it worth it, lol.....
  24. Thanks everyone for all the advice. I'm sailing this cruise on the Oosterdam at the end of January 2024 and looking forward to it. Just booked a penguin tour for the Falklands, the Bluff Cove Penguin rookery, tour is still available for the Jan. 29 cruise. Did book the thermal spa for the cruise thinking I may need somewhere to get warm, lol.....The thermal spa isn't a bad price considering this is a 22 day cruise.
  25. Booked this special rate for a 22 night Antarctica/South America cruise for January 2024 on the Oosterdam. All I paid was port taxes and fees and a $100 deposit. I was only charged for single occupancy. This is not a casino offer, I don't gamble. Called the phone number listed in the email and mentioned the code given. Took advantage of a similar deal on the Rotterdam last Halloween and even upgraded to a balcony that turned out to be a wonderful cruise. Yes these promotions are legit so take advantage while they last.
