  1. Hi Be prepared,,,,,Celebrity ship in Iceland in June 2009,,,it was cold.😏
  2. Hi It would be a shame to go to Iceland and not do the Golden Circle tour,,,it’s on the must do list. There is private tours that do it,,my time it was Saga Travel Iceland,,,,8 in a 12 seater mini bus.
  3. Hi ICF I don’t really care that your opinions differ from mine,,,we all have different opinions about numerous things,,but like I said last week in a reply you made to me… You keep saying ‘That’s the truth’ at the end of your opinion,,,that intimates that everyone else is lying or as it was a reply to me,that I was lying. That was personal. There is a true saying ‘You are entitled to your own opinion but you are not entitled to your own facts’. Now like you I’ll take a break.
  4. Hi ICF Just for info…….I am male. Can I put one reasonable question to you? Why are P&O pricing Iona and Arvia so low? If every cruise was full dynamic pricing would push pricing way higher than that. I saw one cruise priced at £349 today,,,surely no cruise line can survive selling cruises at that price. And I can’t imagine P&O being a charity.
  5. The elephant in the room is indeed Southampton. Go on any cruise social media site and ask why people don’t want to sail P&O and the major dislike is the limited itineraries from Southampton. Whilst the topic was young ones sailing,,I’m my experience the younger demographic want summer holidays not winter holidays in the Caribbean,,,if it was P&O would put every ship in the Caribbean. ps,,not to really want a reprise of old arguments you always seem to refer to Iona & Arvia as being the best thing since sliced bread and you seem to make a lot of assumptions about what people think…… Well let me tell you the worst cruise I can ever remember was on Iona during half term in February,,it was absolute chaos. Also as someone who never gets to bed until after midnight I can’t see how someone who drinks in one bar and goes to bed at 22:00 can actually tell me the entertainment is brilliant,,it wasn’t in February.
  6. Read my post…. Arvia does 14 nighters to reach the sun,,,,,younger cruisers want 7 night cruises. They don’t want to sail for 3 days before seeing the sun,,then 3 days back,,,they want to see places not see sea days,,,,I did when I was young a long time ago. Marella (a so called cheap cruise line like P&O is becoming.) does 14 night cruises with 12 ports,,,,P&O do 14 nights to the Med with if you are lucky 6. The Fijords are a good 1st time option,,,but after a few they become boring. I was talking about cruises from Southampton,so the Caribbean doesn’t come into in,,Btw I have read some people can fly to FL and pick up a Carnival or Celebrity ship for the Caribbean for not much more than a P&O ship. If you were younger with kids what would you pick for a Caribbean cruise,,,Carnival ship built for kids,or a vastly superior Celebrity experience or P&O?
  7. The big elephant in the room is Southampton,,,,it’s the young the ones who are feeling the squeeze economically,,,they won’t want to do 14 days cruises to reach the sun. They will soon get fed up with the Fijords or Hamburg or Geurnsey. The will fly direct to the sun and spend on a 7 nightMSC cruise or like myself a Marella cruise. I will cruise P&O as a fill in but for a cruise in the sun fly to Palma to pick up a ship and instant sunshine. I say Palma or even Barcelona,,,,,but not Malta as OH will only fly 2hr flights,,,like many other oldies.
  8. Fred Olsen is £25 a day for the DP,,,lowest I’ve seen for a pay for.
  9. Hi Leeds to Southampton=234 miles. Liverpool to Southampton=227 miles. I have never done it by coach in 5 hrs,,,,Eavesway leaves Burtonwood at 07:45 arrives between 13:30–14:00. Always only one comfort stop for drivers regulation rest stop. Intercruises (Ellisons) coaches were arriving same time as Eavesway at 13:30 for Iona cruise in February.
  10. Didn’t I read here some of these aircraft are being used as cargo,,,when they put the seats back in couldn’t they leave a few rows out to at least give those who booked PE some leg room.
  11. Hi Concorde,,,,now that was an uncomfortable aircraft.
  12. Hi A lot of cruises now serve Lobster Mac n Cheese as a side dish. I don’t eat pasta but my wife says it’s really nice.
  13. Hi No,,,after x3 awful meals in the MDR we had Fish & Chips in the Quays or the (actually better food)in the buffet. In the last 18 months I have been on Britannia which was hands down better than my Iona cruise this year in both food and service. Twice on FO Boudicca from Liverpool,,,,the best MDR food I had in those 18 months and service second to none. Twice on Celebrity Silhouette where P&O could take lessons in Service and food The best buffet restaurants at sea. Im on Marella Voyager in a couple of weeks,I’ve heard good things about it’s food and service…..I’ll let you know the result,,,,,,but I won’t be swayed by any blind loyalty to a cruise line……..
  14. I am on a Marella cruise from Palma in a couple of weeks from Manchester and we have booked leg room seats,,,,always do. Its all about being comfortable,,,
  15. Hi Comment is free but facts are sacred. My Iona cruise in February the food and service was appalling,,,,are you saying your truth is better than mine.
  16. Wow!! I think that is the best cruise ship MDR menu I have ever seen, and that’s after nearly 80 cruises after 28 years cruising.
  17. Hi I thought by the OP mentioning poor menu choice and quality I imagined that was the gist of his question.
  18. Hi In May on Silhouette there were four,🥳,,and yes I loved the spicy sauce.
  19. Hi I don’t want to go to the Quays for Fish & Chip wearing my Tux. Thats not why I cruise with P&O. I found nothing exciting about Iona,,,,if it was half the number of passengers maybe,,,but queues everywhere was not my idea of a what a cruise should be. I did write a review on here of my Iona cruise in February,it was a shambles,,,queues for dining, queues for Club House,,,queues for Buffet, queues for late night snacks,,,why was their a 30 yard queue at 23:00hrs for Late Night buffet,,,,because everyone was starving after the inedible food in the MDR. Want a drink,,,give your order to the guy with the iPad,,,along with 20 other customers,,,you may get your drink in 20min. There is definitely not enough evening live music venues for 6000 passengers,,only the Clubhouse, and that’s one in one out. Thats why they have so many pay for eateries,,,,,they have to sit that many people somewhere…. Try RCL big ships to see how they cater for huge numbers o passengers,,,live music venues everywhere…..and not just a guy playing the piano who looked like he wanted to be somewhere else,,,no interaction whatsoever. Btw..The Limelight Club was great ‘after’ the show finished.great service, live band,no waiting for drinks plenty of seats,,,,,,probably because most of the 6000 had gone to bed by 23:00,,,,bored to death. My next cruise is on Britannia,,,have you ever sailed on her or Ventura,,,your comments all seem to be about Iona,,,,,there must be a reason why they are selling Iona for £60pppd.,,,,,,no repeat customers I suspect.
  20. Hi Even Tui are struggling,,they had one of their own aircraft go tech this weekend due to pick up a cruise from Palma,,,they used Norse Atlantic Airways.
  21. Hi I don’t put my selves through the horror of a P&O cruise,I enjoy most of my P&O cruises.,,,but if I don’t like the choice in the MDR I will eat elsewhere. Its nothing to do with P&O cruise itself.,,,it’s the decline in quality and choice in the MDR. If the MDR was the only eating place on P&O I wouldn’t cruise P&O,,,would you?
  22. Hi As a P&O and Celebrity cruiser I have criticised both on this board and the X board. It’s those who believe in “My P&O right or wrong’ that I challenge. To keep the thread on topic,,,,I simply believe standards and quality have dropped on P&O since shutdown……..and Celebrity.
  23. Hi. You post of modern up to date food choices not food from ages ago,,,,,,and you choose the leg of lamb,,,,yeh right. Two slices of lamb a scoop of spuds and a few slices of green beans. With a chocolate mousse,,,,,,,the fancy name doesn’t impress me.
  24. Hi P&O should be embarrassed to put this on a MDR menu,,like your Prawn Cocktail this is food from a age now passed for cruise ship dining. This is school dinner food,,or as my old mam used to say ‘Stodge’. Pps,I’ve had some lovely Prawn Cocktail on some ships depends whether it’s shrimps (P&O) or prawns (Celebrity or Fred Olsen) and the sauce used.
