  1. Hi I have just booked the Epicurean restaurant on Britannia for two weeks time. I have sailed many P&O ships but never eaten in the Epicurean. Any tips or recommendations from you regulars. If I can’t make my mind up between fish and meat entrees will they let me try both?..they have no problem with doing that in specialities on Celebrity. Maybe ordering a steak and the Black Cod,,without the lobster.
  2. Industrial action on the railway is usually announced weeks before,,,wildcat strikes are not allowed in the UK,unlike say Italy. Gives you plenty of time to arrange other transport London to Southampton.
  3. Hi What I have noticed cruising both P&O and Celebrity is on Celebrity people seem to experiment with different drinks and often leave the ones they don’t like. Thats what happens with unlimited number of drinks. Never seen it with people on P&O package,,,
  4. Edit. It is now £6.45 for a Prosecco not £6.25.
  5. Hi Alex Thats what I find happens,,,,the allotted boarding time is shown on your checkin paperwork/online ,,,but as you say coach arrivals go straight through whatever the allotted time. You are earlier than us,,we leave Burtonwood Services at 07:45,,then a relaxing 5.5hr journey down,Rolling Sones albums loaded onto the iPad,earphones on and away we go.
  6. Hi My wife likes Prosecco,,,,2 before dinner,2 during dinner and 2 after dinner at £6.25 a glass that’s your days DP paid for. Not much is it with 125ml glasses. Me,,I drink like a fish my DP is paid for by 17:00 hrs. Each to their own I say,,,as my old dad used to say ‘If it suits the wearer beggar the starer’
  7. Hi You can purchase bottles from room service to drink in your room. If I don’t purchase DP (I usually do) I used to buy a bottle of Jameson’s for in the cabin,,,near enough same price as supermarket.
  8. Hi They must be working top down then,we are on deck 15 on Britannia and got 12:30 boarding,,,,no matter,,I’m coming on a coach. We are Atlantic tier going into the next tier during the cruise. So I don’t know what the criteria is for boarding times. Maybe Eavesway give P&O a list of names travelling on their coaches.
  9. Hi With the current 10% discount on Classic DP,a package for 14 nights is £1230 per cabin,,,less than £44pppd. Ive just this minute priced up a Ventura cruise for October.
  10. Hi Lots allow alcohol to be brought on board usually wine/champagne but not spirits. https://thepointsguy.com/guide/cruise-ship-bring-your-own-alcohol-rules/
  11. I have sailed many Celebrity cruises always with AI,,,but not now, apart from astronomical rises in cruise prices to the point where I see no value. Last spring I sailed X from Southampton and found they had taken Boddingtons Bitter off the menu and put Guinness into the Premium DP. Now if that isn’t a reason not to sail Celebrity again,,I don’t know what is.
  12. The report is in ‘Must try harder’.
  13. The figures are audited surely…the financial institutions wouldn’t lend them the money to finance new ships if the wasnt.
  14. Hi I cruise Celebrity (no more) and P&O,have a look at the Celebrity board here on CC,,,it’s worse than P&O.
  15. Hi A company can be in profit and have huge debt. Most companies carry debt,,,how do you think they finance their Huge ship building programmes. The question is are they making enough profit to service the debt and increasing costs.
  16. Hi Foreign registered cruise companies got no financial support from the US government.and nor did they ask for any,,,,,to get that aid they would have had to open their companies into paying US taxes. Unlike the UK who helped Royal Caribbean with a £25m soft loan agreement and Carnival with the same worth £300m. Although both companies are registered in ‘tax havens’ of Panama and Liberia.
  17. Hi,lucky you sailing through the Dardanelles Straits in daylight so you could see the Anzac memorial on Gallipoli.most cruise ships pass in the evening to get into Istanbul for 07:00…you must have been sailing at walking pace. Some cruise lines have a minutes silence passing Gallipoli. On one cruise an Australia passenger asked the CD to read out on the PA system a peom written by her relative who lost his life at the Gallipoli Landings. You couldnt hear a pin drop from those lining the decks. There is an annual pilgrimage from Australia/New Zealand to this area for Anzac Day on 25th April. ps,,did the Queen actually drink the Turkish coffee?
  18. Hi,,I have done Fijords in May,weather can be mixed but the joy of May/June is the snow is melting and the many waterfalls are in full flow. You don’t get the same dramatic effect in August when then weather can be good. Bare in mind Bergen is the wettest place in Europe.
  19. Hi I only drink Guinness,John Smiths and Jameson and my wife is OK with Prosecco so the standard was fine with me.Same on P&O,,,no need for double spirits and I absolutely never drink cocktails.
  20. I’ll go with that. There is a saying ‘Comment is free,Facts are Sacred’
