  1. Pennywise, pound foolish comes to mind. Even on a closed loop cruise there can be excursions that require a passport.
  2. I could see that for only a 4 day cruise. However, if you plan to go on more and longer cruises or trips that require air travel out of the country you might want to budget for passports. For my family two years after a cruise my son went on a fabulous band trip to Europe. I was so glad that he already had his passport since the time was a lot shorter to prepare for that trip.
  3. I need help.with what to do in Nassau in May. We were going to Blue Lagoon but that has removed from the excursions. We just want a nice beach day with amenities. Bathrooms, food and drink to purchase. Chairs with shade, and snorkeling would be a plus. Never having been there I have no idea of where to go and how to get there. Any ideas will be appreciated.
  4. That is good. I would still get her in to your regular vet for bloodwork. Just to rule out anything funny going on.
  5. Ok $15 A year. Yes it is payable all at once but like all things in life if a family wants to do a particular activity they need to budget accordingly.
  6. Not that expensive. Works out to $13 a year. Give up two Starbucks a year and you have it covered.
  7. It is 46 right now and no way would I go stand around outside. Sitting next to the fire knitting is perfect.
  8. Not the best picture, but I am finally able to block some things I have finished now that my guest bedroom is not Christmas central.
  9. One of my favorite extra items to bring is my travel lighted 10X makeup mirror.
  10. Happy New Year's Eve to all. I am volunteering this afternoon and we will probably be sound asleep at midnight. Lol. Tomorrow we will walk on the beach but it may be a quick walk since it may be chilly. Then we will watch the bowl games. Roll Tide. Hook em Horns.
  11. If all you have is a small personal item it will fit under the seat and you don't have to worry about overhead space.
  12. Wow I never knew that when I was in my 20s I was living in dire and upsetting conditions. I was single, living in another state then my parents, couldn't afford a phone and went to the local pay phone once a week to call home.
  13. I guess all your working life you have had all the benefits you thought you deserved. You could be obviously unhappy and frown at your customers and your boss was ok with that. Most of us have had crappy jobs where we thought we were unappreciated, underpaid and life/work balance was horrible. I wouldn't describe it as dire or upsetting just something that prompted me to find something else. If it wasn't for them there would be someone else wanting their job so we would still be able to enjoy our cruises.
  14. It isn't mean to point out to someone who obviously does not understand how business works. If the crew is working in dire conditions they don't necessarily have to stay home and work but can apply to other cruise ships that have not such dire working conditions. If all the cruise ships have basically the same working conditions then it is upon the employee to decide if it the job is a good fit for them or not.
  15. The bottom line is that the crew are employees. If they feel they are working in dire situations they are free to find employment elsewhere. Each and every benefit for an employee raises the cost to the employer, which is then passed on to the customer. Either that or the employer reduces the number of employees, which also has an impact on the customer.
  16. I need help planning what to do for our port days on our next cruise which is in May to the Bahamas. In Nassau we just want a beach day with snorkeling. I was going to book Blue Lagoon but that is no longer available at this time. There is Pearl Island but the snorkeling is only a 30 min. guided trail. On Cocoa Cay we are just going to the Chill Island part and hopefully find chairs in the shade for the day. For Grand Bahamas I am thinking the caves and beach excursion that is offered. We have never been to the Bahamas before for so I need ideas. We like beaches with amenities and hopefully good snorkeling. We would like to avoid most of the vendors in our face as much as possible. I really appreciate any help.
  17. I was talking about the long line of people in the aisle of the plane which backs up to first. I am willing to wait for my bags to be able to take what I want. I have never had to wait that long to get my bags that it wasn't worth it.
  18. When flying another plus to just having a personal item is while other people are standing in the aisle waiting to try to find a space over head for their bag I am already knitting with my beverage.
