  1. @Saint Greg....I have learned that EVERYWHERE I go these days I have to make sure I pack my patience and lots of it, when I leave the house! It is VERY frustrating for sure. Great review enjoying it a lot!
  2. @Saint Greg...very interesting pics...nice excursion away from the crowds.
  3. @ninjacat123...this is neat, I am now going to Google The Foodie School. I would definitely be a regular attendee if I lived nearby!
  4. @Saint Greg...ship looks nice...you are off and running GREAT 1st day!
  5. @Saint Greg...so looking forward to following along this cruise....BUT YIKES that line....hope you packed your patience!
  6. @Saint Greg...based on the pic looks like you opted for a hotel room!
  7. @Saint Greg...thanks for the movie ratings.....guessing since you rated Equalizer 3 pretty high up on your list that Denzel still has what it takes? Also surprised to see My Big Fat Greek Wedding rated high on your list.......haven't seen either but will be watching for when they are available in my home! That is WILD about your Houston buddy....even if it was an immigration situation, not a very smart move, but then just my opinion...could become a $$$$$ mistake! Have a great cruise.
  8. @Saint Greg.....hmmm seems a little bumpy on Princess before you have even gotten on the ship! I can understand any frustration for sure as you seem like a pretty organized and thorough guy. This is going to be an interesting cruise review for sure. I know you will make the best of it and give us an honest review. Now the boss is staying home today I hope, fingers crossed!
  9. I know exactly where Florida City is. Used to have a place at The Harborage in Key Largo back in the 90's. Now retired and we travel fulltime in our RV, wintering in Yuma AZ after living in Florida for 40+ years.....no desire to return either. Lots to consider and research for your cruise to Alaska. Again a lot depends on the time of year you will be cruising. We opted for shoulder season for several reasons. My other half does not fly, so we are taking a 6 day repositioning cruise from SD to Vancouver. Overnight in Vancouver then board HAL Koningsdam for B2B Inside Passage cruises. We will return to Arizona via Amtrak....retirement is about adventures. We will be cruising on HAL Koningsdam this January 18 days to Hawaii......we love everything about HAL for sure.
  10. From your signature it looks like you might be flying out of Florida. If so, I've done this twice, both times took red eye out of OIA. Alaska Airlines offers a companion fare with their CC so you might want to research that. It is a LONG flight no matter what airline you choose. I have never booked flights via the cruise line as I prefer to select my own flight times. As for hotels we are doing HAL in Alaska in 2025 and OMG the hotels are VERY expensive. Pan Pacific is $500 in May! Guess it depends on your budget, for us it is one night, clean room, bathroom etc. I'd rather spend the extra $$$ doing other things. We do not have cc points so we will be paying for a room when bookings open for 2025. Good luck whatever you choose, it does depend on the time of year your are cruising, we will be cruising in May, early shoulder season.
  11. @orville99....I may have missed the answer to my question, if so, my apologies ahead of time. Due to the fact that there is a lot of active ship construction taking place on your cruise, was your cruise price discounted I hope? There was a time when cruises like this were offered at a nice reduced rate. If not my heart goes out to you for being such a trooper, any cruise is better than no cruise IMO.
  12. @Jamman54...whew I get worn out just watching Patti move...she is like the Energizer Bunny with those steps and she sure covers a lot of ground, but so worth it. Fantastic photos and she really shares the port experience with us! You two make a great team for sure.
  13. The icebergs are worth the price of admission! Not to downplay the whales, but I have seen them all over the east and west coast USA and in Alaska, they are amazing creatures for sure, but those ICEBERGS!
  14. Safe travels home, it has been fun following along. Will be interesting to hear a follow up from you if you have "sea legs" now that you are back on land and having been on a ship for so long.
  15. Careful...with some good luck you will be one of those "old" people some day.
  16. All signed up and ready to get the party started! Looking forward to this one as well as all the other fabulous reviews you have done!
  17. Sigh....the way things are rolling in today's world....pretty sad!
