I'd say no cruises till middle of 2021 at the earliest for anyone from the USA or Americas.  The New World is really blowing it here.

You might be right as the U.S. have no strict rules / control over people. Not like other countries where they lockdown. If they are lockdown, it really lockdown as in not going outside of the house. They also have an app too. It hard over here in the USA as not a lot of people would follow rules. Look at all those riots, protesting, etc.

Today's battle is the challenge of the Thermal Suites.

The Epic was the first mega Thermal Suite. Located aft with a outdoor sun deck, coed and unisex saunas and steam rooms, large relaxation rooms, and coed saunas with large windows looking out at the sea.

Breakaway and Getaway came next, installed over the bridge provided partial forward views. They introduced the salt baths. But the saunas moved to the interior.

The Escape kept the forward position right over the bridge. Beautiful 270 degree views with loungers and heated stone loungers wrapping around the bow. Saunas were back with beautiful ocean views. And the Snow Room was introduced.

Bliss and Encore, the Thermal suites were moved aft to make room for the Observation and Horizon lounges. Both are smaller due to their location.

And the Joy, built for the Chinese market where Thermal Suites are not desired, the thermal suite was not installed.

I only took a tour on the Breakaway and the Escape. I loved the Escape more, the way it look out to the ocean.

    They should.

The Encore chandelier cost NCL a million dollars

Wow, a million dollars for this. How do you know how much it cost? They should of stick with similar chandeliers on the other big cruise ships. This one does not look nice. Are those flowers (roses) they are trying to make it out off? I wouldnt want to take a picture near that chandelier.

If Mega Ships are your preference, which of the NCL fleet would you choose and why?

Of these, I only been on the Breakaway and the Escape. I would of have been on the Encore this Sept. but of course it was cancelled. I liked the Escape more than the Breakaway. The water grotto on the Escape and other things that the Escape have that the Breakaway do not have. I would like to sail either the Encore or the Bliss in the future cruises.

  5. If you did paid like a deposit for the 2nd cruise, then you should get a bonus.

As Budget Queen posted - need more information.

    On NCL site:

What happens if a suspended sailing booking has a combination of cash deposits and FCC applied?

FULL CASH BOOKING: If an affected booking has a full cash (credit card or check) payment, they will have the choice to either retain the 125% value FCC, or they can submit for a cash refund when the web form goes live.

FULL SUSPENDED SAILING FCC BOOKING: If an affected booking has a payment with a previously issued suspended sailing FCC, they will not be entitled to the additional 25% and are not eligible to submit for a cash refund. In this instance, the FCC will go back to the guest’s Latitudes account.

FULL PEACE OF MIND FCC BOOKING: If an affected booking has a payment with a previously issued Peace of Mind FCC, they will receive their Peace of Mind FCC back on file to their Latitudes account, plus receive an additional 25% FCC. In this instance, this booking is not eligible to submit for a cash refund.

CASH + SUSPENDED SAILING FCC BOOKING: If an affected booking has a cash (credit card or check) payment in addition to using a previously issued suspended sailing FCC, they will receive the additional 25% FCC on the cash portion ONLY. In this instance, a refund request may only be submitted for the cash (credit card or check) payments made.

CASH + PEACE OF MIND FCC BOOKING: If an affected booking has a cash (credit card or check) payment in addition to using a previously issued Peace of Mind FCC, they will receive the additional 25% FCC on the total invoice. In this instance, a refund request may only be submitted for the cash (credit card or check) payments made.

  6. You only have a few choices. But if it was me, I would not pay the final deposit until NCL sail. I would also not rebook any cruises until they sail or know what they are doing. Right now, some of 2021 cruises are already cancelled for redeployment. I know a lot of people like to book last minutes. But with Covid-19 still going on, they might have to cut down some cruisers. Right now in some casinos - it is only 25% capacity. Some are up to 50%.

  8. FYI, NCL just changed their peace of mind policy:

YOUR PEACE OF MIND IS OUR TOP PRIORITY

"Should you need to cancel at any time, you have up to 48 hours from your vacation start date to do so for a 100% future cruise credit. Applies to vacations on or before December 31, 2020"

We had a FCC than was given to everyone on a recent cruise we took.  We applied it to our May 2010 cruise which was canceled.  The expiration date is at the end of September 2021 and did not change.  We are unable to cruise in 2021 until November.   I called today to see if I could get an extension since we lost so much time to be able to use it because of the shutdown.  I was told no.  They did say that things could change later but probably not.  I was surprised they would want to pass up a booking of 2-3 Haven cabins by not extending our date by a month.  I guess they don't want my money.

I'm a little confused. If you wanted to cruise in Nov. of 2021, then why you cannot do so? Though it was to book a cruise by the deadline, not cruising??

Yep, got my son's FCC back today. I'm still thinking about our FCC that must be used in March (on a cruise by end of 2022). Wondering if NCL is going to change those dates down the line or I'll be booking something at the end of 2022. I would hate to lose FCC for various reasons.

I hope NCL will change those FCC expiration dates down the line.

I do not know if you knew, but NCL said we can transfer those FCCs to another person.

We cancelled a cruise that was supposed to sail on October 16,2020 before final payment was due. Deposit was made with 2 cruise next certificates. Those were returned to our account in about 3 days. Our May cruise which was paid in full was canceled by NCL 3 weeks before the cruise. We chose FCC instead of a refund. FCC still has not hit our account.

You should have FCCs in your account by now for a May cruise that was cancelled.

I just got back FCCs for a Sept cruise that was cancelled by NCL.

Can anyone answer my original question?

Heather - I can now answer your question. The expiration date is the same as the first FCC. My 2nd cruise was cancelled and now today I got back the FCC. The FCC expiration date did not changed at all.

  13. 33 minutes ago, Budget Queen said:

It is not calculated on any FCC you used to pay for the cruise.

I understand that part. But I did paid a deposit on it. That's why I asked if it was based on that. I do not understand how they calculated the bonus part. Thanks for replying. I will have to call NCL this week anyway.

Maybe you can transfer it to another family members / relatives.

If not 2021 cruises, 2022 cruises also work and perhaps 2023 cruises.

    Good luck.

So you're saying they are supposed to be keeping our gratuities, port fees & taxes, drink service charges and excursions on top of the cruise?

What costs are included in the future cruise credit (FCC)?

The following will be applied to the FCC:

    • Cruise fare and taxes
      • Including any winning Upgrade Advantage payments.
    • Flight arrangements booked through Norwegian Cruise Line.
    • Hotel and CruiseTour packages purchased through Norwegian Cruise Line.
    • Shore Excursions booked and pre-paid through Norwegian Cruise Line
    • Prepaid service charges
    • Beverage or Dining gratuities (if part of FAS Promotion selection)
    • Essentials, Booksafe Standard or Platinum Travel Protection, if purchased.
Booksafe Travel Protection will be issued as a separate additional FCC worth the value of the travel protection plan paid. This insurance FCC will be valid for one year from date of issuance and only applicable towards insurance for all published sailings through Dec 31, 2022?

If you did not ask for refund of gratuities of prepaid to the dining or the drink package or the prepaid service charges by I believe it was March 13-15 (or whatever the date it was), it would then be in FCC credits after that date.

Now that NCL cancelled cruises, these shouldnt be in FCC if requested for a refund??

Those that already gotten their refunds - maybe they can tell us what it included.

Was it just the cruise fare or was it everything?
