  1. I agree 100%. each time I'm on the Queen V I wonder if it will be the last and this years WC looks to be the last for me for a while. Fortunately the QV is South America next year so don't have to make a drastic decision. When I look at the countries that we used to go to that we can no longer, it was only 2008 and 2010 that I had trips booked to Syria, and Russia looks problematic now too let alone Egypt Israel and the Canal
  2. you disappoint me maggielou, what about if they have been bedazzled?
  3. watching closely, that could be a game changer but maybe it means the QV and QM may cross paths this year which would be great!
  4. sounds like they may be de riggueur this trip.....
  5. Omg i forgot about the laundry, missiles at 100 paces….. theres barely enough room to swing a cat let alone a bazooka
  6. don't......Im sure all the pirates will have the proper dress code warning in advance........ (have a great trip....youll love it.....)
  7. they wouldn't dare, the clothes police would make absolute mincemeat out of them in the MDR and god-forbid if there was a Formal night onboard and they didn't adhere. They would have no idea which wine to pair with dinner let alone be able to cope with a few hands of bridge. No, no self respecting pirate would tangle with a Cunarder
  8. hate to disagree BellBoy but the internet minutes under the old system rolled over for me.... maybe it was dependant on who was running the Internet service, but needless to say I can't imagine it would under the new system....
  9. yes its just whether they will risk the ire of hitting a merchant ship full of international passengers and nationalities, would they risk having America Australia England France Germany (and the kiwis ferocious maoris warriors) on top of you. Mind you, the mindless acts currently being undertaken......maybe they would risk it....
  10. I wondered about this recently. Very glad our QV is going around South Africa on the WC this year. They seem to be attacking commercial ships at this stage, the outcry if they attacked a cruise ship with its numerous nationalities onboard could bring them results they are not prepared for. But to suddenly change the QMS Itin this late and close to sailing would be problematic for Cunard - a lot of the providorring would already be on the high seas in containers ready to be accessed at Dubai and having to rebook ports this close to docking plus also rerouting passengers to board at Capetown rather than Dubai, passengers complaining that Carnival had "ruined their trip of a life time" by not going through the Suez etc would be a nightmare that they might not wish to address. I can see Carnival and other lines rethinking schedules for the future but I doubt they would change this late for this year.
  11. thanks Guys, Ive applied for a transit visa just in case, regards Roscoe
  12. curious to know if anyone has been to Sri Lanca recently by ship if the cruise ship organised the visa for you or you did it yourself before you boarded. In the past it has been done by the ship but this year our shipping g line has been a bit confusing about who organises it.
  13. she did this year while we were in Hilo......it was in the wintergreen...
  14. Damn ill miss you…. Make sure my office is nice and clean when you vacate it! Regards
  15. Oamaru although a Victorian deep port wouldn't be deep enough for a modern cruise ship, although I agree it has lots for a tourist to do, especially compared to Timaru (all due respect), Timaru is deeper and possibly why they are calling there. but this part of the South Island between Christchurch and Dunedin are sadly neglected by the cruise industry. Hopefully people will still discover them.
  16. aloha darling Patti, the ship is not the same without you both..... I get on the 25 February through to the 28th April then a week in London then through the states and home. Sadly not to Hawaii this year....best regards....R
  17. awwwwww... you flatter me Richard....blog forthcoming... http://exitviathegiftshop.blogspot.com myriads of elves sewing as we speak.....
  18. Can I thoroughly recommend Oamary and its victorian quarter. One of the largest surviving Victorian quarters left in the world. A link to a magazine article I wrote is here... https://roscoesseafever.blogspot.com/2023/07/the-new-otago-gold-rush-published.html It is truly a hidden wonder and I am afraid...Timaru has probably lest excitement's for a days excursions.
  19. Great News! Worked a treat! Thankyou, much appreciated.
  20. yes thanks, Ive already had the benefit in facts Im now close to having paid off the cost of them but this is the first time ive had a problem applying for it. It will at least cover one night in the Gin Fizz bar .....
  21. thanks and yes all I do is the statement with the voyage details etc. I was reading somewhere that carnival had changed it to some app and was requesting annual income etc....it sounded like a real scam but there is a thread on another carnival thread and people claimed it was the new legit way to get the benefits. Your method sounds much more reliable for a luddite like me...ha. ill wait and see if it works this time. regards ps...two minutes later an acknowledgement of receipt...so half way there!
  22. thanks, Ill try it now, its for the Wc so getting onto it now. I'll let you know....best regards,,,
  23. I just had my request for shareholder benefits bounced back and even though it was sent to the US email adores which is the normal one a reply came form the UK address saying they didn't deal with anything not booked in the UK or Europe. I sent it two more times.....same repp once. Remembering there was a number of posts...which I didn't read I admit about shareholder benefits and Ive searched back to page 12 and not found it and ym search button only brings up princess and seaborne posts I was wondering if any one had a link or knowledge about a change in system.??? Is there a new website called Stockperks? or something that we have to apply from now??? only look for replies regarding US or Australasia shares...thanks...I know that the UK ones go through the shareholderbenefits.UK site thanks....Roscoe
