1. But either way, we're back to it being stressful again. With that rigamarole, I could easily just say forget it and not cruise.
2. We had no water at all. But it was okay--we didn't need it at the time.
3. Basically, but it's not that bad. The way I remain flexible with this itinerary is, if we are going to ISP then I do whale watching in ISP. If not, then we do whale watching in Juneau. Between whale watching, the museum, and the hike, we can make a day of it. After multiple visits to ISP, though, we start looking at the Patter and checking to see if maybe some events on the ship are more interesting than getting off.
4. Same story here. We had a toilet issue but it went away before we even had to report it. The cabin stewards must know things we don't.
5. I thought the drive-in Walgreens testing was anything but stressful, but it also didn't cost $129. If that's what they charge now, and the balcony itself only costs $700 for the week, that is a hefty chunk of change.
6. I would be mad. Sitka is the reason I book the itinerary.
7. That is true, but that is not the same as just buying CCL stock for the OBC credit and then selling it to get your money back.
8. I do. I give them A thought: I browse the sailings, and I immediately gloss over Costa. Just saying.
9. Only reason I don't like bench seating is because we like the round table, shared seating. If we sailed as one big group it might be different, but when it's just the two of us we need to meet more passengers on the ship.
10. I'm not very picky, but as far as anything I actually cared about, I noticed no difference between the Caribbean Princess and the Island. The staff were different, but people will always be different.
11. I wonder why Princess themselves have so much trouble telling me that. My thing is, I am the teacher's spouse, so if I book under my princess.com account, I don't see anything. All I ever wanted was for Princess to just tell me that my spouse has to create an account and do it, or just call in. Do they want to fill their cabins?
12. If it was for widows and widowers, and they kept track of the contestants after their "happily ever after", I would totally watch.
13. We brought a couple of bottles of soft drinks right through the conveyor belt, at port. This month, no issue.
14. On Alaska sailings, I just pick a cabin close to the Lido deck. One flight of stairs away from the lemonade. And access to views both port and starboard of the ship.
15. Sooo.... Princess notices my web activity on their site and asks if I need any help booking. To which I say yes. Cruise Vacation Planner leaves a voicemail and email and we start looking at sailings. I ask about the Teacher Discount and say that's the reason we would consider another 2022 sailing. Skid marks. I guess I don't have a Cruise Vacation Planner anymore.
16. Technically, any stock can go to $0, but not all stocks have a tangible possibility of going under. Given that cruise fares are getting low, combined with fuel prices getting high, combined with a lot of debt, and that tangible possibility does exist for CCL stock. Don't buy the stock thinking you'll just get the OBC credit and then sell to get your money back.
17. I think it was said elsewhere on this board that your cabin steward will help you make it work, if it comes down to that. It's not Princess' first rodeo when it comes to CPAP machines.
18. Actually... I enjoyed my last Princess cruise...AND I'm not sticking with them. There are other cruise lines out there, some are getting higher ratings, and Captain's Circle is not all that. When I saw the OP subject, I was under the impression that both yes and no votes were being invited.
19. I booked no excursions and was all shopping my first cruise. I started booking excursions only when merely visiting the same ports was no longer enough. Finally booked my first ship excursion on my 8th cruise.
20. There is still the law of averages. Princess has a 3.8 average here on CC, as does Carnival. RCCL and HAL have 3.9. Celebrity is 4.1. Norwegian is 3.7. Also, the cost of customer acquisition far exceeds any loyalty costs. Princess (and all cruise lines) would get far better return if they invested more in loyalty than they did in acquiring replacements.
21. The average Celebrity cruise is probably more expensive than the average Princess cruise, but definitely not always. Unless you're comparing cheapest Celebrity suite to the cheapest Princess "suite'. It's also possible that the worst Celebrity cruise is not as good as the best Princess cruise. All that to say, you have to shop. Not just assume before you book.
22. We had 2 culinary demonstrations on both of our recent Caribbean sailings. Not my thing, though; but they had them.
23.
American ethnocentrism. It's their restaurant, their ship sailing under the flag of Bermuda, in international waters.
I don't think I can go along with that. We all know Bermudan, Panamian, Liberian, Bahamian ships are mostly flying the flag to exploit legal loopholes. Just like offshore corporations in the Caymans and Ireland are not really Caymanian or Irish. If the start/end port is in the United States, and their majority market is in the U.S., then American ethnocentrism is, in fact, correct.
24. Sounds like Princess needs two tags on all their cabins: Do Not Upgrade, and No Really.
