  1. We walked there with our carry bags and backpacks for the day. Not bad.
  2. We had 4 ships. I can imagine 9 ships would be nuts.
  3. I don't see what you're expecting to reach with just a golf cart. It would be a stretch just to make it to Puerto Plata. A motorbike would make more sense. Even then, though, the traffic & driving in Puerto Plata is just insane. You can hire a private driver for the day for just a little bit more, for a party of 2-4.
  4. Agreed. I don't think you missed anything. I think we did.
  5. I used to keep the old medallions, but the new medallions are more secure than the old but are not particularly useful afterward. Much like your hotel room key.
  6. As far as I'm concerned, I'm the one who paid, I'm the one who sailed, and I'm the critic. If others wish to view that as complaining, then okay--I am giving my opinions; not taking them.
  7. Their policies that Princess actually imposes need to match the policies on the sites and signs. Otherwise no one reads them; because they're not credible. I would be surprised if Princess ever openly advertised in writing, front-and-center:. "women can wear shorts. Men cannot ". There would be an overblown (but warranted) firestorm. That doesn't fit Princess marketing's style. In their world, everything is wonderful.
  8. The important thing is that people just know what they're buying in to. Some people have never been there, done that. And so we have this board, to help you find out. Other times, the cruise lines market one thing, but you get another. So again...we have these boards, to let you know.
  9. Oh, so Princess is actually going AGAINST their advertised policy? Only for women?
  10. I have never PM'ed anybody on this board before. I will figure it out after I get my luggage.
  11. I guess I would put up with nothing:. I just won't pay full price for a cruise to begin with. I also really don't care what the reasons are why there are issues with the cruise: I either simply don't cruise again until I hear more positive feedback on here, or I get teed off and don't cruise again until I hear positive feedback. Either way, same end result.
  12. Just got back from Lamanai; we have not done Tuna Sandwich or Altun Ha. My impression was, while ascending the 2 temples about 9 stories was a trip highlight, the precious port time we spent in transit was awfully long, the boat ride was not any exotic Jungle Cruise expedition, and we would have seen about the same wildlife driving I-95. The San Gervasio ruins on Cozumel were a smaller version of the same thing. The hike and climbing the temples were hot and a bit strenuous (which we were okay with). Lamanai was plenty worth doing--the question is the opportunity cost. Some other tour might be a better use of time, if you have never been. Xunantanich is probably not one, since on that one you sit in a van for 2 1/2 hours each way.
  13. We just did Rony's on Roatan and it was in our top 2 favorite tours on our 14-day Caribbean cruise. I have the exact driver's contact info and email if anyone wants it (it was not Rony). He helped me fumble my way through my Spanish, and told me several Spanish words.
  14. Allowing women shorts sure sounds sexist to me. Even so, I am on the Caribbean, and it hasn't seemed to be an issue simply because women haven't done it. My bigger problem is how the information is disseminated. You have to go to the MDR the first night and happen to stand near a man who is wearing shorts (or be that man), so you can hear him get warned.
  15. We are having no crowd on the Caribbean at 5 pm. Especially if you're willing to share a table.
  16. I would escalate that to guest services and management if I had to. If I got a full suite and put up a silver tablecloth, I'd be like, man, I want my gold tablecloth. I don't care if you have to pull it out of a closet, give me my doggone gold tablecloth.
  17. We did a shorex with an airport dropoff, and they offered to drop us off at the ship instead of the airport. It worked out.
  18. One can self-quarantine and still potentially be a good citizen. It's more a matter of trusting Princess to handle it well. If you don't, then....
  19. I saw on my medallion that full price was $20 for 1 day, 1 device. I didn't buy it myself.
  20. We're paying $10 a drink individually, which is about right in line with what we would pay at any restaurant at home.
  21. Our Princess Everglades airboat tour + airport dropoff was actually better priced than if we did the tour independently--and that is BEFORE we price in transportation. The sum of the regular admission tickets to the exact same places would have cost more. We saved a killing on taxi.
  22. Getting an aft suite is always worth a substantial sun in my book, regardless of dining. I did full suite before, so I have an idea what the dining is like.
  23. Based on this thread, I'm concluding that no, Club Class is not worth it. You're better off just going to a specialty restaurant every now and then.
  24. Wow, we only heard about that secondhand. We did monkeys and zipline.
  25. Our golf cart sat up to 4; price was $99 regardless. Scooters are absolutely much more fun, though. I would have paid $120 instead of $99 if my DW wanted to drive.
