  1. Can I add my recommendation for the Sorolla Museum, Truly a gem.
  2. Left Bergen last week to fly home. Luggage left outside cabin the night before, time will be stated in letter delivered to your cabin. Coloured tags indicate time of disembarkation for you. You wait in the living room until your allotted time and proceed ashore to the cruise terminal and go through immigration. You identify your luggage in the terminal and take it to your allotted coach. At the airport you identify it again as it is taken off the coach and you are shown where to go at the airport for your flight by the Viking staff there.
  3. Our very first Viking cruise director. She is the standard we have judged others by since.. We rated her very highly ,a great performer. A niece of the Clancy Brothers I believe.
  4. Typically in the UK it is proof of age when buying alcohol that might be asked for if you look like you are under the permitted age for drinking or buying alcohol. Another time might be if you are seeking age concession access tickets for an attraction. If you want to hire a car you would need to produce your driving license.
  5. Chocolate replenished every day as well !!!
  6. On Viking’s Ocean website in cabin details the photograph shows a door and a window for PV cabins but obviously there are also the PV cabins with sliders. I seem to remember that D grade and DV only come with sliders.
  7. Recently when we had a fairly late arrival in Prague we had an email to say that in the very unlikely event that there was no longer a Viking rep still at the airport that we should get a taxi to our destination, get a receipt and present that to the Viking desk for reimbursement
  8. I like the room configuration better with a opening door and a window as you can sit on the settee in your cabin and see outside. Strangely I find the sliding doors a problem as they pull on my shoulder as I try to glide them open or shut.
  9. Some advice I saw about using the tongs in the buffet was to use a paper towel of some kind to handle them and to have some hand sanitizer on you to use back at your table.
  10. This time of year I always take a couple of strappy sundresses with me as an alternative to shorts for day time use. Europe is currently somewhat warmer than usual for anyone travelling soon.
  11. Those signs have been there at least since my first ocean cruise with them in 2019.
  12. Apparently the US mainland has had a record number of cases already this year with hospitals especially being affected.
  13. Ideal way to return from Rostock is to get a local ferry back. They drop you off immediately in front of the cruise terminal.
  14. Took me a while to work out what CC meant . Then did not know what closed captions were as In the UK the term sub titles is used. This might be useful information for those of you with a UK hotel stay as part of your holiday. Look for the word SUB on the remote control hand set . Will not always be available for live broadcast events.
  15. Docking in Hull would perhaps open up tours to York as well as the East Yorkshire coast . Newcastle might be another option.
  16. We did not fancy all that train travel and so did two great excursions from Warnemunde instead. Our solution to having more time in Berlin and having a Viking holiday at the same time. We have just returned from the absolutely wonderful Elegant Elbe river cruise with pre and post stays in Prague and Berlin.
  17. Viking will put a kettle in your room if you ask your room steward, they did it for me and provided fresh milk every day so we could make tea.
  18. Not the lasagne definitely. The sharing platter of meats and cheese is a good starter to go with the wonderful bread and a nice red wine.
  19. Last week mine opened up 36hrs before the posted time on MVJ,it may have been earlier but I had not checked for the last 24 hrs. I was able to book everything I wanted (anniversary date and birthday ) otherwise I am flexible with days .
  20. Randomly checked MVJ just now and my dining options were available to book,36 hrs ahead of schedule. All options ,days and times available . We have chosen shared tables for the first time and interested to know if we will prefer that option. Into the Midnight Sun on Viking Venus July 22nd.
  21. Not being too serious here but if you both have Apple Air Tags and each of you has one with you then you can find each other 🤔😂. Could be useful if you got separated on an excursion?
  22. On Viking Sky in December it was the vocal group’s first week with Viking and their nights were Beatles medley and American classics through the ages. I don’t recall an Abba night.
  23. Our guide in Copenhagen was asked about what currency to tip in. He said he happily accepted any currency and saved them all up until he had enough of any particular one to make it worthwhile getting it exchanged for local currency.
  24. We did his tour when we were on Viking Venus in December and I think I can speak for everyone on the tour and say how enjoyable and informative the tour was.
  25. Interesting that it is a Sicilian wine. We tried a bottle some times ago when we were binge watching Inspector Montabano on TV and wine was always being drunk. Now it is one of our go to wine regions to try. Not been disappointed yet.🍷🍷🍷 We have found a white one that we like as well.
