  1. What error message are you getting when you try to reserve a spot?
  2. Hi Gwendy, good to hear from someone currently on board. Are you doing the eastern or western route? And what about this afternoon tea? I hadn't heard about that. What do they serve?
  3. That's interesting. I'm hoping that it won't be too full in early December...
  4. We're the plumbing and A/C issues in your room or in the common areas of the ship? Did the engine problem affect your itinerary?
  5. So I guess Princess does an auction for their unfilled rooms? It appears I can do this once the fare is fully paid. For those who haven't seen my earlier questions we're booked on the Caribbean Princess for Dec. 10th for a week to the Eastern Caribbean. We currently have a balcony room, but wouldn't mind moving up to a mini-suite if the price was right. I would guess that the ship may not be very full at that time but who knows? I would like to hear from experienced Princess cruisers that have won bids for upgraded rooms, specifically what they bid for an upgrade from a balcony to a mini-suite and, if possible, from someone who did it on this particular ship/itinerary.
  6. This is exactly why we decided to give Princess a try. We wanted no part of the 20's crowd that seem to gravitate towards Carnival, and had our fill of the zoo on the big RCCL ships. I will plan to do an accurate, objective review of our cruise in December.
  7. I'll start this by saying I'm not an experienced cruiser by any means, the wife and I have only been on 2 RCCL cruises to date. We were looking at doing a Caribbean cruise this winter, and we did the western section on the Allure Of The Seas in 2016 so we thought we would try the eastern section this time. We wanted a smaller ship than the Allure (too big, too crowded) and fewer kids. Our TA recommended Princess, and we picked the December 10th sailing on the Caribbean Princess - we figure that will be not as busy, and the little ones will be in school. So this morning I decided to go look at some of the recent reviews for this ship and it appears that depending on who you believe it's either one of the best out there or it is closer to a garbage scow. I know that it's an older ship but it went through major maintenance and upgrades a few years ago. So who do you believe? I'm pretty laid back, I don't expect things to be perfect as I know things can go a awry. And it's Princess, not Silver Sea or one of the other super-luxury brands that cater to the 1%. So are some people just too picky or unrealistic about their expectations? And on the other hand, are those who rate this ship 5 stars too blind or loyal to Princess to note the shortcomings? Signed, Tuco
  8. First timer here. So the medallions are shipped via USPS/Canada Post and not UPS, FedEx, etc.?
  9. So I've been following all the drama concerning the changes with the casual dining, room service and OceanNow. I booked our December 10th cruise aboard the Caribbean Princess 2 months ago, ordered the Premier Package with our room. The cruise personalizer mentions that all 3 of these features are now included with the Premier package. However, my travel summary on the website doesn't show these items as part of our cruise. When I look in the app under the packages section it shows Princess Premier, and at the bottom it lists OceanNow access & Casual Dining. It does NOT show the room service being included, and under casual dining it says unlimited Prix Fixe (fixed price) meals? I thought the meals were free? Should I wait a few weeks to see if it updates? Or do I need to call my travel agent? I should probably mention that I have not received any emails about this. Perhaps I will when I pay the balance in full in a few weeks?
  10. I went ahead and set up our dinner reservations for the Caribbean Princess for our Eastern Carribean cruise in December. For MDR it gave me 3 options - Coral, Palm and Island. I selected Palm since I was told they all were the same as far as the menus and decor. However, when I pulled up the ship layout in the app I could not find the Palm, I only saw Island and Coral. Can someone tell me what deck Palm is on? I assume it's in the rear like the other 2? The second question is what are our options for breakfast and lunch? Are the MDRs open for breakfast and lunch? If not, I'd like suggestions from experienced Princess travelers as to their favorite places to go. Thanks, Bruce
  11. Dark rum in a Pina colada works for me also. If it's Cuban so much the better!
  12. WisCruiser, it gave me several different times starting at 5 PM up to around 8 PM for all 3. I went ahead and picked Palm for the 5 nights that we're doing the MDR option.
  13. Our upcoming trip on December 10th aboard the Caribbean Princess leaves from the Port Everglades terminal in Ft. Lauderdale. The last time we cruised from here it was in 2016 aboard the RCCL Allure Of The Seas and I remember what a long, drawn out affair it was.- talk about a zoo! I've got all our Ocean-Ready steps complete, we're both in the Green Lane and we'll have our medallions with us when we arrive. How fast and seamless will it be to get aboard? I believe the ship sails at 3 PM, what is the earliest time we can get aboard?
  14. Aren't Princess and Celebrity the same company? Or is it RCCL I'm thinking of?
  15. I tried using the on-line chat option on the website and it worked, he was able to get it ordered for me. So we're both green and ready to go!
  16. I was having issues getting my wife's medallion ordered, the app was not working and neither was the web-page version. So today I went and did their live chat option, took about 5 minutes and it was all taken care of.
  17. On a similar note I enjoy drinking B&B, has anyone ever seen it on a Princess cruise?
  18. The app has been having problems this past week. I could not get my wife's medallion & wristband ordered, kept getting an error message when I tried to finalize the order. So I went online and did the live chat option, and he took care of everything. We're both set for green lane departure!
  19. We're sailing on the Caribbean Princess in December. First time on PCL. The Dine My Way is showing 3 different location options - Palm, Island and Coral Dining Rooms. Does anyone have a suggestion as to which is best? Or are they all the same? Our room is on the port side, about mid-ship.
  20. Thank You Steelers36. I plan to bring jeans & a couple pairs of khakis for dinners. I never wear shorts to dinner, even when we're at the resorts in Mexico and it's blazing hot. As for their app or web-based software I've already learned they're both screwy. I've got my medallion ordered and set up for home delivery before we cruise but I keep getting an error when trying to do my wife's. They claim they are "working" on it...LOL
  21. Thank You Rick & Jennie! cr8tiv1, thank you for your reply. Regarding the MDR, have you ever known anyone to be denied seating due to their dress? I ask this because RCCL also has these nights, but they never enforced it. I saw a guy dressed like a beach bum get seated on a formal night, and I was livid because I had pitched a ***** about having to dress up on vacation. As far as selecting places & times for dinner, I assume I can't do that until I'm paid in full? BTW, the 2 specialty meals were part of the package, we didn't pay separately for them. So you don't buy tickets for the shows? Are they all considered complimentary? We do have the Premier Package... I'm doing as muck of my pre-trip planning using the app, we will have our medallions in-hand when we board. Hopefully it will make a difference at boarding....
  22. Hello everyone. We're currently booked on the Caribbean Princess for the December 10th Eastern Caribbean trip. I have a few questions, apologies if it's redundant. 1. What is the dress code for the main dining room and the specialty restaurants? Are jeans & collared polo shirts acceptable? Or do I need to pack dress pants & shirts? 2. I've read where desirable time slots for the specialty dining and MDR can become hard to get, but it appears I cannot make any arrangements until I make the final payment. Do you think I should pay it now and not wait until next month when the balance is due? 3. As far as on-board entertainment, when will we be able to book shows? There's nothing showing yet, at least when on the app. Or does that not show until we're fully paid as well? 4. On embarkation day, we want to get aboard as early as possible. What time would that be? 5. This is our first time on Princess, we have only done RCCL in the past. Anything different that we should be aware of? Thanks in Advance, Bruce
  23. Is anyone else besides me having issues ordering medallions? I can't seem to get it to work in either the phone app or on the web page.
  24. Is anyone having issues ordering medallions in the US? Had to change the credit card we used to order the medallions because we got a new one, but now it won't take our order. Have tried both the app and the web -based applications.
