  1. That's why I read Cruise Critic. They'll post something immediately. ☺️
  2. Of course. This way they can please both types of the crowd. There are very few of the formalists who would leave the cruise line if everyone didn't follow their lead.
  3. Good one. Most people just wrap the egg in a box & hope for the best. My husband begins his prep at home and really looks forward to any real competition. Sometimes I think he goes a little overboard to just win a coaster. The key to winning is a creative design.
  4. I know it's not the most important thing to do while sailing but I still like to see a few newer flicks during the afternoon on a sea day. I suppose most people don't care one way or the other but I can only sit in the hot sun by the pool for so long. After lunch by 1 PM I've had my fill.
  5. By all means, bring your tux or anything else that makes you feel you've met what Princess advertises for their formal nights. Dressing has changed ever since the return from Covid but it shouldn't keep you from making what sailing was years ago. Just don't be surprised that not everyone will follow that same advice. Enjoy the experience what ever you choose to do.
  6. Until they actually offer some really good appetizers, I doubt if we'll rush back anytime soon.
  7. The comments above are all correct- Princess has relaxed their formal requirements in the DR on formal nights where practically anything is acceptable. For the men even a pair of nice jeans, Dockers or dress pants with a Polo shirt are now being worn. For the women a pair of slacks & any dressy top are OK. Aside from wearing shorts there doesn't seem to be much difference between any other nights in the DR. Of course the men can always dress up in a suit and tie and the women can wear a long gown if they prefer but many people are leaving all the really formal clothing at home. The important thing is that Princess has now given people the choice to decide for themselves what is appropriate - except I haven't see anyone in shorts, yet.
  8. Oh, they'll kill time all right.... at the terminal whether they're allowed in or faced to wait outside causing congestion for everyone. I don't know how priority is designated but I'm sure that not everyone can select early boarding. I'm still not certain that they'll board according to the time selected.
  9. And what would the people who fly do, especially if they landed at 8 AM and got to the terminal at 8:45. There's really no place for them to kill time.
  10. It sounds like they're trying to be more convincing about enforcement but I still think it'll backfire on them. Think about the turmoil they'll be at the terminal when dozens of people arrive before they allotted time? Where do they go? They'll only be standing in the way of those that are scheduled to board right then. It's just easier to let the early arrivals board rather than turn them back. Let us know how it all works out.
  11. I'll give it a shot on our next cruise. Since the mini bar is now extraneous, someone might as well get the benefit of some coffee.
  12. I check this security breach on every trip and they haven't corrected it yet. I've told the PSD, security and the Medallion crew about it and no one seemed to be concerned. I also asked them if people should right heir cabin number on the back of their cruise card if they use them in place of the medallion & they all replied "of course not". "People would be able to find your room if it was lost". 😑
  13. They must have brought their own balloons. I haven't seen balloon decorations since they stopped dropping them a few years back. Even the old celebration signs are now a thing of the past. We bring our old ones & hang them inside our cabin.
  14. I didn't think they would let you reassign the benefit.
  15. I've got no idea what that part of their statement means. 🤨 It could mean that if your profile photo doesn't match the security photo on file when you return to the ship (security check) they won't let you proceed to the room?? I.E.- you can't borrow someone's medallion to reenter the ship. ??
  16. You would think that would be true, but it's not. Princess has made it very convenient for everyone to find their cabin by just going to any of the display boards located around the ship (also on each elevator landing) and hold your medallion to the medallion spot and it will give you a map with a highlighted route back to your cabin. No pin or password needed.
  17. It's there somewhere but I can't find it either right now.😕
  18. Prior to choosing the arrival time using the medallion app, they were enforcing the boarding time in San Francisco, based upon what deck you were on. You can never tell what they might do next week.
  19. Was it well attended? Sometime they can't get enough people to participate.
  20. I don't believe that they ever said cabin access required a photo match to the security picture. All that's required is having an authorized medallion.
  21. No one can use your medallion to charge your account since your security photo shows up when a charge is made (assuming the clerk checks the image on her device). If a lost medallion is found by anyone they could get access to you cabin because there is no check other than having the medallion in their possession. The display boards give anyone your cabin location and directions if they have the lost medallion in their possession. Lost medallions should be reported immediately.
  22. Thanks. Glad to here it returned to the old standard. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ By any chance, can you post which cruise terminal you'll use in St Lucia after you arrive there? We hoping for the downtown terminal on our trip.
  23. Just in case you haven't been scared enough by having you name displayed, consider this: If by somehow you manage to lose your medallion anyone that finds it can locate you room and gain entrance to your cabin by using any of the display boards scattered around the ship even without your name posted outside your door. Your medallion will remain activated until you report it lost.
  24. Hence the lineup at 5:00 PM. By the time you get seated and place your order it's 5:45 PM before your food begins to arrive. By the time we leave at 6:30 there's a hugh lineup at the door and it's a mad rush to get to the show.
