There was ever a doubt about it spreading.  There attempts are to slow the spread and lessen the impact. The vast majority of cases are mild.

Thank you. I’m very well aware that it was going to spread in the Caribbean. I was just commenting on another person’s comment.

We were on this cruise.  Wish I'd known about your FB roll call group.  Anyway, I came down with a gastrointestinal bug and visited the medical center.  There was a steady flow of crew members coming by to get meds for upper respiratory ailments.  I think I heard them say they had dispense close to 3000 boxes of meds on this cruise alone.

Oh no...I hope you feel better now.  I’m beginning to think that there was definitely a bug going around and that it is cold and flu season, and that was responsible for the respiratory issues. I’m sorry to hear that you got sick on your vacation. I hope the next cruise is better! Thank you for your response!

300 people!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm sorry you got hit with whatever bug was going around.

I was on the Breeze cruise just before yours (the Magical Mystery Tour).  I noticed quite a few people coughing and/or hacking while they were around me, but there could have been any number of reasons for their behavior.  I did have a bit of sniffling four a couple of days in the middle, nothing that slowed me down more than a trifle.

I didn't notice any mold in my cabin in steerage or whatever public areas I went to.

Oh good! We are on deck 1, so we should be ok then. I’m thinking it’s just that time of year and people are just sick.  I hope you enjoyed your cruise!

We just got off the Breeze on February 1, 2020. We stayed in a balcony cabin on lido. I didn’t see or smell any mold, and I am asthmatic. But, over 300 people in our FB roll call group came down with an upper respiratory infection or influenza A. I, unfortunately, am one of them.

Oh my...that’s a lot of sick people! I hope you feel better soon!

On our last trip the texting worked just Ok if it was person to person, Group texting did not work at all.

The texting feature is great for parents as kids start to go off on their own.

Does this app work on every carnival ship?

That is a lot. I'd recommend checking out the Blue Lagoon excursion. We did in in 2018, and it was so nice! Beach day, snorkeling, food. You can swim with dolphins and have them push you through the water (your kids would probably like that).  It is absolutely  gorgeous there.

    Great idea! Thanks!

  7. Hi! My family is new to cruising so I was wondering if I could get some opinions on which ship to go on.  I have 17 year old triplet daughters and this vacation is to celebrate their high school graduation. There is a 7-night Breeze going to Amber Cove, St. Thomas, San Juan, Grand Turk or a 6-night Horizon to Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel.  Are the ships that different? I’m sure we will love all the islands, so I guess I’m more interested in which ship is really better. Thanks for you help!

All beaches are technically public but access to non-guests is not required. The ones within the Atlantis resort are bounded by huge rock jetties so you cannot stroll in from down the beach. Much easier to pay and then go between the resort's beaches and the pools and water park.

There is a big public beach east of the resort that many people from cruise ships go to. You have to access it from a path next to the Riu or the next hotel to the east (can't remember exactly because we walked down from Atlantis). Lots of vendors for parasailing, jetskis, etc. Umbrellas and chairs for rent. Taxi from pier should know how to get there.

Is Atlantis worth it? We are timeshare owners there, so our answer is defintely yes! With kids and that much time, go for it!

Thank you! The kids really want to go, but $830 is a hard one to swallow so it has to be fantastic.

  9. Hi!  RCCL changed the itinerary for our cruise on the Independence  in July.  We are now going to Nassau instead of Labadee, which my family is not happy about because we had already bought tickets for the zipline and we were sooooo looking forward to it.  Anyway, we were thinking about going to Atlantis for the day since we will be there from 9am - 10pm.  It is really expensive though.  Is it worth the money? Also, could I just lay on the beach at the resort for free while my teenage kids went to the park?  Thanks for your help!

I have chosen the lowest deck on most of my cruises, because of the thrill of being so close to the waves.  (Can look out your porthole and see the ocean waves RIGHT THERE!  Reminds you that you're on a boat, not a hotel.)

More importantly, the mid-ship cabins on the lowest deck are the MOST stable part of the ship... thus an excellent choice if you are prone to seasickness, or don't want to be jostled all night long if waters are choppy.  Furthermore, those cabins are typically priced lower, and have more availability of adjoining rooms.  And, you are closest to the port debarkation exits... won't have to wait for an elevator w/ everyone else.

I have never heard ruckus from the employees on Deck 1.  They work long days.

The downside of staying in a low cabin is that you may be closer to the engines or anchor, depending on which end of the ship your cabin is.  Early on port mornings the anchor knocks & clangs about.  This wouldn't affect people who plan to be up early for port activities, but would affect those trying to sleep in.

    Thank you!
