Oh my. How do you kill a thread on here? With the current status of the hurricane and multiple "points" being made on this topic multiple times during the past 48 hours on multiple threads, can threads like these be paused, blocked, stopped, or whatever has to be done? Hopefully all travelers are safe. Lessons learned. Decisions made about future travel. Points taken. Etc. I wonder how many more pages of this redundancy is necessary.

You can always skip a thread once you are bored with it, not request it be shut down . This cruise is not finished yet, there will still be lots of questions as to disembarkation, final travel arrangements people are having to make and whether NCL assists them at all. I anticipate that once some of our CC members are home they might also add comments.

Thank you. No, all the captain said was that we’re going to New Orleans. They can’t even give us a port time. So, no one can even make flight arrangements until they do that. We were so close to key west and Sky was leaving the dock and we just kept on going. Tampa out of the pic as they don’t have a deep port there for this ship. The captain made the announcement and then left his crew to be bashed by all the guests. I was 2 feet from the desk when they were making the announcement so I was the first in line to ask questions. They couldn’t give any answers. They said that they don’t know any details only that we’re going to New Orleans and we have to get off the ship. I have video where passengers were chanting “don't get off the ship” over and over. It was kinda scary.

    Can you post the video?

Geeze, we would have been in your shoes if we left a week earlier, parked at Port as well. I agree, shame on the few that are calling u all crybabies and think they are above all of this. If they don't have a question or can't contribute something positive, stay off the boards. NCL told us yesterday afternoon that you guys would be departing and we (9/1 boarders) would be boarding at 8 this morning. Like you said, it was announced at noon yesterday that port of Miami would be closing, so something doesn't add up. So sorry they put you in this position. Has anything even been explained? Like why they didn't dock in Key West or Tampa! New Orleans is a long way, hope they get you all back quickly and safely. Prayers for all.

Would the port of Tampa be able to handle a ship of that size?

Sorry for any lack of information. I’m in the United States. The “Norwegian agent” i was referring to works directly with NCL. I’ve contacted my bank and the money was returned. However, because I wasn’t aware of the refund I tapped into some already. He said it was a glitch in their system and that the reservation is no longer confirmed so at any point before sailing I can forfeit my cabin. I guess the blame does fall back on me since the money was returned. I guess I’m just not understanding why the payment was refunded nearly 3 months later and that it was document on their end. It’s an unfortunate and disappointing situation to have planned this cruise since January, Pay in full, and just days before sailing see that for some reason the payment defaulted.

If by some 'glitch' they had overcharged you by $900 would you expect them to return it to you?

Like I said the last time someone posted that link, that is an article, not a policy. The article also does not talk about the scenario I'm asking about in my original post.

It states clearly that Royal Caribbean do not allow any cannabis derived product onboard their fleet.

What else do you need it to say? That is their policy, regardless of cruise itinerary. .

Agree. I believe that lawyer is attempting to put pressure on RCCL to come to the table and negotiate a settlement. Remember the attorney gets a piece of any settlement and possibly an enhanced reputation. This is not intended as a criticism as he's just doing what he was retained to do!

It worked for the George Smith family, and probably countless others.

Well that's certainly a very different account of what actually happened compared to the information in the first link.

Assuming this account is correct, I'd be interested to know why a glass pane was removed from a child's play area making it possible to fall from the ship.

The windows are all along the sides of deck 11. You can see them in this video of the H2O Splashzone.

They would pose no threat to any child.

A question about Key West... we want to do the Hop On Hop Off trolley, but it's not available through our excursions on Freedom yet. There's one that includes the trolley and admission to other sites, but we don't want that- just the HOHO Trolley. The trolley site mentioned that these tickets are always available at the excursion desk onboard... can anyone confirm? Or is it possible that this will show up closer to sail date (we're still 500+ days away).

I will buy them directly from the HOHO Trolley site if I have to, but I'd rather do it onboard so we can use some of our OBC...

You can buy either the Conch train or Trolley tour for a lot less by buying direct.

On the Sun this week.  Was told by the CruiseNext Consultant last night that NCL will be discontinuing the "Free Open Bar" on the Sun and Sky starting with sailings in September.  Also said the other cruise companies that offer the drinks included cruises (ie Royal Caribbean et al) will be doing likewise.  A Guest Services Rep. said he knew the change would be coming, but had not heard of a specific date.

They still have them on the website for sale. I am looking at Oct 15. Free open bar is what they show....

  10. Cozumel is a small island. There is a 2 lane road that runs from downtown past the piers,  and goes all along the coast. There are numerous beach clubs, each a few minutes apart on this road. Look at Playa Mia, or Mr Sanchos for lively fun,  or if you want a quieter day Nachi Cocum.  Lots  of videos on Youtube.  Get a taxi, they will be plentiful at the port for about $15.  Nachi Cocum only has an all inclusive ticket, the others have  a choice of pay as you go, or all inclusive day pass for about $55. If the beach does not interest then take a taxi into downtown, about $8,  to stroll around shops and eat lunch at Pancho's Backyard. As far as excursions, look online at the trips Carnival offers to see what appeals to you. You can almost always buy the same trips for less than CVL sells them, at the port or pre book online. Be aware though if you are planning to go very far from the port with a private vendor then you have to be very aware of the all aboard time  and get back in plenty of time. This applies to any port, but especially in some of the very rustic ports with poor roads. If this is your first cruise and you plan to go far I would bite the bullet and pay for a CVL excursion, that way if you are late back, the ship will wait for you. If you are on an independent trip and are late, the ship will sail without you....   Cozumel and Costa Maya are essentially beach, watersports, snorkeling or souvenir shopping days, with some Mayan ruins available to visit , and small rustic towns existing only for tourists.

Went to see specialist today, recommended surgery to include plates, screws, rods, and bone grafts. Surgery next Wednesday . If I needed to fly for cruise he wouldn’t have cleared me but live close to Boston so I get to go.

Use of thermal spa will be a last minute decision based off how the foot is doing.

Picked up the Iwalk 2.0, been using around house and have gone out once, like it other than  my foot sticking out while standing still and people might not notice and walk into it.

Do have a couple questions for you all, should I get wheelchair assistance for boarding ? Will the metal they use in my heel set off the detector at the cruise terminal (or airports) and if so do you bring a letter explaining the surgery from the doctor or just let them wand you?

    Thanks for any help!!

I would book a scooter for onboard use. I can tell you those hallways are very long if you are using any assistive device. Save those for onshore excursions.  Having your heel protruding back from that knee walker imo is asking for someone to knock it or ram into it.

Did the surgeon mention if they were using  titanium?   Titanium should not set off TSA Detectors.   The original screws / bolts in my knee used to set them off, every now & then.   The screws / bolts have since been removed.

I have titanium in my tibia, knee and hip and I always set off the alarms and have to be taken aside for pat down and scan.

I remember on previous cruises that I would see scooters left in the hallway outside of peoples cabins. Do people still do this?

My mom fell ill last month and is at a rehab center. They have have not been able to get out of bed yet, the goal is to get her out of bed this weekend. Told my mom she has to be able to stand up and be able to walk 10 to 20 steps to go on cruise. We sail in 3 weeks on Symphony of the seas so we will be cutting it close.......

If you think you might need one I would go ahead and book it, I. was told they need to be reserved 3 weeks ahead.
