Yes, it is.  The Captain of the Allure was found to be completely vindicated for his decision to sail into the storm off the East coast by following RCI's ISM procedures, and RCI decided to revise their ISM policies, but the Captain was a few months later quietly transferred to another ship.  I think it was a HAL ship that had an incident entering Alexandria a few years back, where the Captain was again vindicated, but ended up retiring due to the poor press from the incident.

FWIW -  When the Captain and Chief Engineer came out to talk to pax on Sun am  they were given a standing ovation.

  2. Majesty of the Seas 2003. I took my grandsons, then ages 14 and 10. The oldest sulked all the way down to Miami, he didn't want to go because " it will be SO boring!"   Fast forward 5 days and he was in tears when we had to leave to come home,he had such a good time..... he asked " when can we come again?"   We're still sailing.

  3. We always stay at the Holiday Inn, Port of Miami which is overlooking the port, basically at the other end of a long bridge. We have also stayed at the Intercontinental on Chopin st which has car rental  desk on site there.

It is much pricier than the Holiday Inn. H.Inn is opposite the BaysideMarketplace.com which is a very nice place to spend a pre cruise evening- shopping/restaurants/bars set around a marina. . Intercontinental is just a five  minutes walk along a park path to Bayside.  How long pre cruise will you be there?

  4. Oasis from Miami - the easiest port to arrange your own hotel, transportation. Taxi from airport to the Holiday Inn, Port of Miami is fixed rate. Hotel overlooks the port and is opposite the Bayside Marketplace, which is a great place to spend a pre- cruise evening, then taxi over to the port in the am $8-10.  In my early days of cruising I went with the cruiseline reservation thinking it would make it seamless. It didn't and it cost me more than  double what I could have done it for  myself. Never again.

Being on Medicare does not necessarily mean that they are not healthy.  It only means that they are 65 yrs old or older and are eligible for Medicare benefits  which include doctor visits i.e.. check-ups, also flu shots, etc..  Being on disability probably means they might have some health issue(s).  :-)

That is the point - they are both on Medicare because of chronic illness, on disability. Neither one is over 65. All the more reason to get travel Insurance ....

What would make a person think just because a person is on Medicare they are unhealthy.  I am on Medicare and am very healthy.  With speaking with passengers on ships, I am amazed at the number of passengers do not know that Medicare does not cover you out of the continental United States.  Why do people not do some research or ask there travel agent questions.

They are not of retirement age, they are on Medicare because of disability........

Ridiculous. Very sad that someone died but that is absolutely not RCCLs fault. The person to sue is the tour company if they did something negligent. Unfortunately zip lining can be dangerous sometimes, especially if one isn’t aware or hasn’t done a lot of research on the company that operates it.

Maybe its just me but I was under the impression that everyone knows that the cruise line doesn’t operate these excursions? Thought everyone knew that. Not a lot of details available to determine what actually happened on if it was an accident or if the company that did the tour did something negligent. No matter it isn’t RCCLs fault though. But sure her them go ahead and sure the bigger company 🤨

i dis zip lining once and won’t likely ever do it again. A little too out there for me and far too many accidents like this one.

Hopefully RCCL maintains their ground and doesn’t allow themselves to give out any money for this and now hopefully the family understands how cruises and excursions work. It’s still very sad though.

If they bought the excursion through RCCL then it seems to me that they share liabilit with the operators.

The excursion I booked was called Royal Aerial Adventure.something or other.  It was $ 50. I thought it was only going to include one zip line trip and one float down canal but they said I could ride repeatedly and use the water slides.  I’m not sure what the difference is between the one I paid for and the higher priced one they offer on the cruise planner.  They both go to the same place and they let me ride what I wanted to.  I didn’t try and ride the zip coaster so maybe that was part of what wasn’t included.  The zip lines I rode were the conventional ones that went from platform to platform.  I had three to choose from not including the zip coaster and I rode two.  I rode three different  water slides and I think I could have rode them all.  Maybe there were some that weren’t included that I never tried to ride.

    Thanks.
