I just recently did an upsell and it was only maybe 5 days before the cruise. I would have been in deep trouble if it had wiped it out. I didn’t. Maybe what was meant is if you booked and got an oceanview than decide on your own to change to a balcony, you would get more obc. Other than that I don’t know why it would change or clear it.

Agree you should be fine with 1:30.

Thank you about the comment about the specialty dining. I mentioned the same thing about that a week or so ago. For me it seems the worst in Canaletto. Like you I’ve rarely said anything but on my last cruise I finally spoke up as they wanted to put me at a banquette. I put up with it on the cruise before. I can’t sit on the banquette because my knees get so stiff it’s an ordeal to get off it. I sat on the chair in the aisle and was bumped all night. I got a window all right the next time and my meal was served so quickly so they could get me out and give the table to someone that deserved it 🙄. The next single lady that came in was sat at the banquette.

Embarkation-Dropping off Carry-ons in Room

I haven’t had quite the same luck. I’d say about 70 percent of time the room was ready. Had to wait until noon on my last cruise. -
"Have it all " package with Holland cruises

Hint to those that have hia excursion credits. Book your excursions asap. If you wait until 5 minutes before you board they will be sold out. I booked my last cruise 7 weeks before it left. Despite the fact that I have physical limitations I was able to book my excursions. On my next cruise there is an excursion I’ve always wanted to do so as soon as it was available I booked it. My last cruise there was multiple port change and a new port added in. I checked once a day for excursions in the new port and I was able to get my choice no problem. Lots of complaints from those that dilly dallied that all the shorex were gone. That’s completely on them. Luckily hal added more shorex. -

It’s not difficult to switch between devices. It asks if you want to disconnect the other. Easy. Also don’t know why the hia is being described as complicated with restrictions. You get 15 drinks period. Spend them how you wish. Pretty straightforward. -

That’s not what I am saying. It was said upthread that people may be too lazy to do the math to see if hia is worth it and just blindly buy it (insinuated). I’m thinking that would be a tiny amount of people. -

It’s been my experience that you lose that money. On my last cruise I was given 15 percent back from a shorex I did because there was a lot of complaints. That 15 percent never appeared on my account and I confirmed it was use it of lose it. I would have had to chip in my own money to buy another shorex and I wasn’t interested. -

I’m wondering if anyone doesn’t do the math because they are too lazy 🙄. I would think “most” people would rather pay a lower fare. I’ve purchased the hia on my last few cruises. I definitely want internet. The shorex are so so for me. I generally have only 2 or 3 alcohol drinks and coffee and sparkling water, maybe a virgin Caesar. What I like is not thinking about the extra cost of getting a drink if I want it. I used to buy wine packages as I get 1/2 off but I find I enjoy a cocktail much more. -
Thanks for the information. It’s just not anything I’d want to do.

What 😂? What does that even mean?

Post for “lissie” about high insurance rates
Florida_gal_50 replied to rochelle_s's topic in Holland America Line
Yes that makes a huge difference (age and no pre existing). -
I absolutely pay mine off every month but I’ve disputed with both American Express and home trust visa and didn’t have to pay those charges until they were resolved or they got reversed. No interest accrued on them. The credit company was of course aware. As long as the debit card is separate that’s a better way to go. I just prefer to cover all my bases when dealing with hal and things that can go sideways.

The yearly plans still have limitations. Before I started my present position (I have health insurance through them) I bought a yearly plan through a company that’s highly recommended on the Canadian board. I believe you had to be stable (no medication changes in 90 days) or you weren’t covered for that particular ailment. I remember my mom telling the dr not to change her meds until she returned from holidays because she was always doing the same. The dr said she would be marking that comment on my moms chart. Needless to say she didn’t go on the holiday at that point. People need to ask lots of questions. -
The way it works in Canada if you use a debit card those funds are immediately taken from your account. When I use a credit card those charges are not coming directly out of my account. Once billed I have a choice to pay them or not. No money is removed from my account if I dispute those charges. In my eyes, that is completely different. No way would I use a debit card.

Anyone currently on Westerdam?
Florida_gal_50 replied to TwinMommyByGrace's topic in Holland America Line
Me either. I just like a cabana so much. It was kind of a weird set up. They had this cupboard kind of thing on the side of each cabana. Really odd. That was a few years back. Hopefully it was taken out. -

That is suspicious. I wonder if you are on to something. Years ago the noordam cabanas suffered problems. There was damage and they have gotten rid of them even though I’ve been told I’m wrong. I had someone confirm they are no longer there and she confirmed that (noordam). I wonder if they weren’t getting used that much and the damage extensive so they thought let’s cut our loses. -

As far as I know the only ships that have lido cabanas are the na and eurodam. The westerdam definitely has retreat. I have had one. -
Navigator sucks. Part of the time I can’t get in and many times I can’t pull up my statement either. It says the same thing. I’m just glad 🙄 that hal charged me the 31 cents I owed them when I left my last cruise. I’d hate for them to write it off.

Rotterdam: When and Where Does She Feel Crowded

Thanks, no, I’m not in that bad of shape but my knees suck. I’m just always amazed at how people think walking an extra 100 steps is a big deal. I’m talking people that have no physical disabilities.
