I had an urgent call from my old firm, to come in and help a couple of the young engineers with a project.  So I spent the morning with them, and helped them out.

Then, this afternoon was the firm’s Christmas luncheon.  I got there a couple minutes early, so I stopped at the bar and ordered a yuengling draft to take in to the dining room.  Asked the bartender how much, and she said $1.  Me: That’s it?  Is it Happy hour?   Her: No, that is the price, all day, every day!

I totally missed the sign on the way in.

I can’t remember how many years it has been since I had a $1 beer.

Great price for the beer.  We enjoy Yingling, however we can’t get it in Michigan.  ☹️.  We have to drive down to Ohio to get it.

Many of us named our daughters Jennifer after reading the book!  Our daughter Jen has several friends named Jennifer.

One of my all time favorite movies.  My stepdaughter is named Jennifer.  I remember reading the book when I was in high school.  I stayed up all night and read the book in one night.  Bawling my eyes out the entire time.

    A couple of things.

Happy Birthday wishes to all those having birthdays coming up.

As far as the comments on Live reviews I am not going to respond as to say a lot of us work hard in time to provide readers of this forum our experiences out at sea on a ship. We can’t control all the other comments and side chatter that people including those here post. I would hope that people would respect the original poster’s intention and not turn a live review into a free for all.

Sad to report that Linda and I have cancelled our April 1st Beyond 11 night Southern Caribbean cruise. We angonized over it but feel with Linda’s shoulder surgery on December 26th and me scheduling a hernia surgery will not give us enough time in rehab to really do this physically. It’s not like we don’t have cruises coming up. Navigator in October, Bella 2, Bella 2.5 in February of 2025 and Bella 3 in January of 2026. We will try again and book Beyond but I’m sure the prices will be more expensive by then. Oh well.

So sorry you’ve decided to cancel your cruise.  I’m sure it was a difficult decision.  As someone who has had rotator cuff surgery, it’s not an easy surgery to go through and it does have a fairly long recovery period.  I’m sending positive thoughts for healing for you both.

Curious what your thoughts on Covid shots , I get them whenever a new one is available, wife got all of them except for the latest.

I've received my Covid vaccines.  I got the latest dose about a month ago along with my flu shot.   I figured with the holidays coming up and holiday shopping, I don't want to risk getting sick and missing our January 6 cruise. I've been waiting too long for it.   I did get Covid once last spring and got Paxlovid.  I think I was sick for maybe a day or two with cold like symptoms.

I hope your wife feels better soon.

  5. @aussielozzie18  What a fun outing you had with your dad.

It has me thinking if the post river boat in our area offers something similar.   We are very close to the Detroit River which runs between Detroit, Michigan USA and Windsor, Ontario Canada.

This river is used mostly by freighters.  However, I know there is a postal boat that delivers the mail to the freighters as they pass through the river.  I’m going to have to do some investigating.

    Thanks for the wonderful photos.

Thank you, Mark. It is amazing how quickly you revert to "normal" and how hard is to "restart"....

At least, DH keeps delivering for our eldest son and me excellent and varied comfort food.... This Friday he tried for the first time stuffed peppers 😉 My "contribution was" mashed potatoes.

He managed to squeeze another small yellow pepper in the middle....

Your meal looks delicious.  I think about everything you are all going through every day.  I pray that peace will come soon.  Please stay safe.

Another person from my HS graduating class passed away.Three in the past 6 weeks, all in their sleep. The President of the school Alumni Association sent out e-mails to every member who graduated in the same year as the guy who died. Our graduating class had several hundred students.I realize that not everyone joins an Alumni Association but the e-mail was only sent to 23 people.

Sorry to hear this.  My graduating class has a FB group and I'm starting to get a few of those notices as well.  I just try to be thankful for every day.   Sending positive thoughts your way.

Good to hear from you.  😍  Sounds like a fun filled week.

I keep hearing about sous vide - someday I have to try it.

Last year I went to order seeds from MiGardener early January and they were out of a lot that I wanted so we plant some left over seeds and I picked up a bunch of Burpee seeds at Lowes.    Our garden did not thrive this past year either because of old seeds and/or the weather where we had lots of rain and lots of humidity this past summer.

So this year I ordered my seeds from MiGardener as soon as I got the emal that 2024 seeds were available.    They arrived this past week.   I am trying something new to us - Poona Kherra Cucumber, Purple Cayenne Peppers and Lemon Drop Aji Peppers.

I plan on putting the seed packets in Eric's stocking as he is in charge of starting the seeds and I manage the plants once they are outside.    I hope this coming garden season is better.

I'll have to check out MiGardener.  I'm not familiar with them.  Doug is the gardener in our house.  I'm not allowed to touch anything green. 😄    We have a couple of Aero Gardens that he starts the seeds in before it warms up enough to transfer them outside.  It seems to work out pretty well.

Edit - Just checked their website.  Looks like they have a store about an hour from our home.
