  1. Our ship is scheduled to dock in NYC at 9am. We are traveling home via train from Penn Station. Is booking a 10:30 train cutting it too close? (We'd obviously do self service with luggage.)

If you even get out by 9:30 you can be at Penn station and have a lot of time to spare before 10:30

  2. My daughter and I usually do about 4 cruises a year, but my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung CA about 3 years ago and it was a long road. He passed 2 years ago and we now take care of my mother who has Parkinson's. In addition, my daughter started college last year so she's limited.

Well, we're sick of not being on a ship!! ;p

So, I've been looking and I just booked us on the Victory for December!!

We are so excited...I'm going to burst if I don't tell someone who understands how much we've been dying!!

    Okay...I feel better now! :')

lol I feel you. These are the kind of posts o love to see. I am kind of on the low right now in terms of excitement. I do not have any cruises booked until next year.

  3. Correct ish. :) No one will ask you if it's for the dining room (or anywhere else). If you bring the bottle to the dining room, they'll charge you the $15 corkage fee. If you just bring a glass to dinner - your cabin steward can loan a corkscrew if you need one - no corkage fee.

Unless you get a nice server like my last one who tells you to just hold it down under the table when you are pouring it and you will be fine :)

  4. I do not usually do the same things as I hate monotony. The only thing that I do that is set is dinner time. I usually do my own excursions. I've only done one carnival excursion because I can do the same excursions for cheaper and I usually do not go too far from the ship.

  5. You can certainly get free wifi I at some of the ports. I don't usually use Carnival excursions so when I go to ports to wait for my bus service I usually ask for their wifi password. This usually works well for whatsapp videocalling to family back home. My phone is on airplane mode the moment the ship starts moving

  6. Thanks for the review!!!!

Overall, it sounds like you guys had a great time!

What happened to DD that she all of the sudden didn't want to go to camp. That's sad.

Yes we certainly did have a great time. It's a mystery why she was so excited to go and then suddenly doesn't even want to go close to that floor. As soon as she saw one of the workers she started crying out loud. I did not brought it up to anyone other than ask if they knew why she did not want to go anymore. I did not even mention the scratch on her face. It actually left a mark there. By the next cruise she will be talking better and can tell us if anything happens to her.

  7. They should be done with 95% of the work. They may be doing little things here or there, but nothing that should ruin your cruise.

Highly unlikely anything like the Glory incident would happen again.:'):')

    I say go for it!

I wouldn't chance it. I assume that Conquest will be getting waterworks as well so it will likely take the same amount of time. Conquest may be getting Serenity also which could even result in a longer worktime than Glory. Victory also had lots of work post drydock.

  8. My thoughts on the ship and cruise itself

I went on this cruise with an open mind because of the mixed reviews. I was excited because it came out of drydock just a month prior the cruise. The ship is in good condition. Yes, there are some minor things that could be changed/repair/paint but there is nothing that stands out that is in bad condition. I am not a smoker so I do not like the scent of cigarettes. There was no issue with cigarette smoking in the casino. I have read where people say that was an issue. It is either those people have super sharp smell, or they just want to find something to complain about, or the ventilation was fixed during dry dock.

The only place There was a slight smell of sewage was in the hallway on deck 4 walking from the picture displays to the elevators. That odor was there for the most part whenever I passed that area. It still wasn't a strong odor but it's there.

The crew was always friendly and personable when you talk to them. Not everyone say hi when you passed them in the hallway. However, no one was rude. Carole is a great room steward and she seemed to always be working. Anything we needed she provided. The room 2277 was spacious and well-kept.

Entertainment was too-notch. The production was really good. Yes, it's similar shows I have seen before but the singers are some of the best cruise singers I've seen. We always go to the second show and they were very energetic even on the final nights.

If you read the summary of the ship on CC you will see that they mentioned constant announcement as one of the negative on this ship. It's not a ship issue. It is the CD's (Eric Brouman). He repeats the same thing too often. He is good at what he does. I think he is a great CD. He just makes too many announcements.

The food is awesome in the MDR. I've never gotten a meal that was too cold (unlike what a lot of people say). The soup especially seemed like it was just poured out of a boiling pot.

The Glory is a beautiful ship. I would definitely go on it again if the ports and price is right. If you are thinking of booking it.... Go Ahead! There is plenty to do.

  9. Day 8 - Getting off the ship

We didn't bring out our luggage so it took us a while to get off the ship. There were a number of people with priority debarkation so we we had to wait in the Golden Restaurant until they had us lined up and out lines merged with the other passengers in the lobby. Overall it wasn't bad at all. We didn't have an early flight so we were not worried. Our suitcases were off the carousel and waiting for us by the time we got off.

  10. Day 7 - Sea Day

Not much to report for the sea day because we all decided to just hang out by the pool area for the most part. We also did some laundry and went to the places on the ship that we did not get a chance to go as yet. This includes the sports deck and the gym. The sports deck was really windy and empty so I took some pic up their and got down. I peeked in the gym but did not actually go in and workout. Who wants to do anything involving work on a cruise? Then again, I guess doing the laundry was work right?

We could not get our daughter to go to Camp Carnival. As soon as we got off the elevator on the 12th floor she started crying. See post #134 for more details.

We are dinner at the MDR and a fan of dessert but I tried the carrot cake and I would definitely recommend it. It is as good as it looks8ad851422a4a8d0e81a71ac331e28736.jpg

We got up and danced while the waiters were dancing and everyone really had a great time. Our waiters have been so great to us so we all had something for each of them (3). Nelo, the head waiter was awesome and Emilio and Dani was just as awesome. They appreciated the tips we gave them and even on the last night they were just as welcoming as the first night. This is the best crew of waiters I have ever had. They were very personable.

After dinner we went back to finish packing so we could put out our suitcases to be picked up. Later on in the night we went to the casino to gamble the budgeted money we still had. :). We did win one of the $100 stack from the money machine589bcd9dd6360c2c17a0244e554619c0.jpg

We stayed in the casino until it was time to close. I am glad we did not have so much fun there the previous nights or we would have been broke coming back home the way we were going.

    End of day 7

  11. The CD may have crossed the line a little but when he joked about Titanic but then said ships are made better now so those kind of tragedies will not happened again.

I dont know how long it took for the power to be fully restored but it doesn't seem like a long time even though I did so much during that time. The crowd on this cruise was well-behaved and they really seemed very calm; at least the ones I encountered.
