  1. Eddie Bauer has a great men’s sport coat/blazer in their “Traveler” collection. It’s made out of a performance fabric that is great. When required, my H brings this and wears it in the plane. It resists wrinkles well. I agree with you and this sentiment applies to “formal optional” nights as well.
  2. Don’t forget the old faithful argument that resort casual will ruin the ambiance.
  3. Prepare to be skewered. The loyalist will come for you and the destruction of the ambiance with your logical line of thought
  4. Don’t know the first thing about a tie. But I will say that it doesn’t take more effort - from packing to execution to pull off formal nights in my opinion.
  5. This is the same argument that has been raised on the other CC boards when elevated lines have changed their dress codes. This is very relevant as it would explain why the cruise line has relaxed their code on at least one ship and are being less strict on their other ships.
  6. I’m intrigued by the ‘ambiance argument’ I’ve been on plenty of ships in nice jeans and had spectacular dining experiences.
  7. I’m afraid that I will be in the same boat after our port intensive trip in June. The OGs will be happy I am sure since the ambiance will not be impacted but I suspect that if many of us who share your thoughts fill out the guest survey overtime it will change. Too much competition, and too much money spent to eat pizza every day.
  8. I wish this was the standard on SSea!
  9. Wow, you pay close attention, I’m honored. In my experience = the 20 other cruises that I have gone on. All with dress codes, most discussed heavily on this website (once it started) then never mentioned on board.
  10. Appreciate the reasonable dialog. Hope you enjoy your trip.
  11. If ambiance includes what your fellow passengers are wearing will you sailing Nova or is that too casual? Just curious if you opinions drive your purchases or if they are more preferences.
  12. I very much appreciate your input and writing style. I agree with you . I believe that SS may be relaxing their code to match other lines and to suit (pun intended) the younger generation. It’s a revenue grab.
  13. I agree. It seems as though the Nova code of formal optional is infuriating the OGs who still want to dress up AND want everyone else to as well. Thankfully the group that is vocal here is a very small percentage of travelers and once onboard talk of this nonsense is nonexistent, in my experience.
  14. I hope this means that you just won’t reply further to that post and not in general. I hope you continue to share your opinion as it is valuable. Others will not allow dissenting opinions, they are relentless.
  15. We have played but don’t play regularly. So excited for this trip and to meet you.
  16. We were just at Lovango Cay and it was enjoyable for a couple of hours, I agree, not much of a full day or even half day place for us so I would likely stay on board if I did it again.
  17. thanks for your comments. One thing that I know for sure, this group of SD passengers are the nicest ever! These boards can get ugly sometimes, but I have found this group to be amazingly helpful. I am so excited.
  18. Yay! We are from Austin. We have two cabins, originally there were 4 of us but one had to cancel so we will be lively group of 3. Can not wait! When do you get into Margot/SXM? We fly in the day before embarkation.
  19. This is great news. Just out of curiosity, how did they 'change' it? Did they announce the change somewhere or was it word of mouth type situation?
  20. 🙋🏼‍♀️ only chose SSea for Summer 2024 due to the new ship, great cabin availability and itinerary (with perfect timing). Learned about the complexity of the dress code after the fact and it wasn’t a big enough deal to cancel.
  21. Yes this is a copy but it does not even give all lf the details/complexity by ship. A new to SSeas cruise would never assume their DC to be this intricate.
  22. This is the point. How silly that this much has to go into the explanation especially since you didn’t include the chart.
  23. I have learned that this forum is a place to state your opinion but if you disagree with the 'OGs' you are likely to get an onslaught of pushback. The fact that you need carry or memorize the Ship, Venue and coding for the each night is ridiculous. I agree that long days, especially if many will likely miss dinner, should always be casual. As for those that say eat a pizza or worse, stay in your room to eat....SMH
  24. Ha! I bet they made him wear it to the table and the “allowed” him to take it off and put it on the back of the chair. Silly.
