  1. Thanks for the replies. Well, I hope I was wrong & can use OBC from my travel agent & Princess booking deals. That since I now read the following when logged-in to my Princess cruise....... "Onboard Credits are essentially onboard spending money that is applied to your shipboard folio. At the end of your cruise, these credits are applied to your final balance due. You may receive these credits as a result of a special promotion from Princess or your travel agent."
  2. It's a shame Princess apparently doesn't allow OBC to go towards gratuities like Royal Caribbean. Anyone have experience with Princess applying remaining OBC towards gratuities at end of cruise?
  3. I don't remember from our 1 previous Princess Alaska cruisetour, but on our many Royal Caribbean Cruises they allowed any balance of our OBC to go towards gratuities. What about Princess? Their website doesn't state it however.
  4. We are booked for Jan'24 Princess cruise with no special Teacher discounts. However, my wife is a retired Math teacher. Are we missing anything we would be entitled to? But, we have a great on-line travel agent with over $400 in on-board credits due.
  5. Sorry, my mistake. But I do see both the Emerald's Sanctuary and the Majestic Hollywood Conservatory are located FORWARD on decks 17. Hence my confusion.
  6. The Sanctuary seems like a Princess ripoff if you need to pay and reserve it. When we were on the Majestic Princess July'22 in Alaska. It was free and no reservations. However, there was no food or drink. While it was generally a relaxing place we went to a few times, they did have some educational sessions there with Park rangers + dance classes as I recall.
  7. We have never purchased a drink package on any of our past cruises.. We don't drink much alcoholic beverages, maybe 3 each on our upcoming 15 day day Emerald Princess cruise. But we might consider a non-alcoholic package. We are also considering the Plus pkg. But, we will have $400 on-board credits. There-in lies our dilemma on what, if any, package to take. Also, was wondering if just 1 of us can get a drink package(alcoholic or not) and whether they add tips to those drinks.
  8. Hello neighbor? I'm trying to decide on air for Panama canal cruise in Jan'24. Booking direct w/airline, now seems too early for several reasons. Cruise departs from FLL and ends in LAX. However, in past booking air w/Princess EZ-AIR for Alaska cruisetour 8 months in advance really paid off. Then didn't have to pay for air until final cruise payment date(90 days b4) and saw air prices drop twice which they allowed we to change w/no penalty. But for Alaska timing was very critical. For my new Panama cruise would fly to FLL the day b4. This time cruise is Princess again( only 2nd time). All other cruises either didn't have air(Bayonne NJ very convenient) or booked directly w/airline. Any suggestions out there on which way to go this time?
  9. Thanks. Since I haven't booked my air yet, not sure what if any is refundable. When I asked InsureMyTrip agent, they said to add my air insurance coverage when I booked the air. When do you think is best time to book air? If I use Princess EZ-AIR, which worked for criticle timing for our previous Alaska cruisetour, is doesn't matter. That's more money, but they will lower the fare if the price changes b4 final payment due.
  10. For a 1/22/24 15 night Panama canal cruise we purchased the IMG SE policy from InsureMyTrip on 6/10/23 where the original deposit was made on 6/1/23. Therefore, we should be within the window to get the preexisting waiver. But, as others have written, we have not yet booked our air. Unless I use Princess EZ-Air(no $$ due until final cruise payment), it seems too early to book the air. But then, there's that issue of jeopardizing the preexisting and/or whether I need air coverage at all. The post cruise air is from LAX to PHL. I'm still confused after reading other posts and also speaking to InsureMyTrip. ANY THOUGHTS OUT THERE?
  11. Yes, the food was pretty good. I liked the eggs with bacon and maybe cheese mixed in, but not omlette style. Wife enjoyed the French Toast. All came out hot, unlike buffet. Portions were rather small.
  12. I believe they have a switch on the balcony door that turns off the A/C. On RCL if you have an issue with your cabin that's not promptly rectified you need to speak to the HOTEL MANAGER. That's what RCL calls the manager overseeing all cabins.
  13. Yes we had breakfast just last week at Jonny Rockets on Harmony of the Seas and it's free. Most seating is outdoors on the Boardwalk area. There's waiter service.
  14. I sure hope I can watch the NFC playoff football game on a big screen somewhere on Board. It's scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday 1/29/23 Eagles vs. 49s, our Embarkation day. As a diehard Eagles fan I wouldn't want to miss it. Although my wife insists she leave game early & won't miss the 5:15 MDR dinner. But, I'd be OK with hot dog or slice pizza to watch whole game..
  15. Wait... I misread the thread. I'll be disembarking at Port Everglades Ft Lauderdale) going to nearby FLL. Is taxi, Uber or something like ridesas.com the best?
  16. My travel agent said to use a taxi as they are waiting outside the cruise terminal. But for the very short ride to FLL $104 + seems outrageous. Was that the exception? Our flight is scheduled for 2:35 PM.
  17. I forgot to look at football playoff schedules when we booked our 1/29/23 Harmony cruise. I'm going to be in the doghouse if I watch the entire NFC playoff game Sunday afternoon, 3:00 pm with my favorite E-A-G-L-E-S vs. Cowboys or 49's. Wife says she will watch at least 1st half, but must eat @ MDR @ rereserved early 5:15 seating. I could be ok to get a hot dog or something from buffet after game,, but guess I'll loose this one! Will the game be on a big screen TV somewhere?
  18. Looks to me, now with no changes allowed, except for those with food allergies(see footnotes on menus), there are too many items with GARLIC which doesn't agree with our stomachs.
  19. Thanks. It seems odd that it would be on the web, but not on the app. Nonetheless not sure yet what night(s) we would go there. Since it doesn't show prices I guess it wouldn't be the Brazilian Steakhouse some people mentioned.
  20. For what it's worth we enjoyed the Samba/Solarium buffet several times on the Allure about 4 years ago. It was located in front of the ship. I think in front of the Solarium. But, didn't go for dinner where they charged extra. We'll have to see what's their venue on Harmony when we go in a few weeks. But wait, dissapointed to see it's NOT Shown on my RCL app when logged in. But, there is Coastal Kitchen that we're not eligible for(not in a suite or Pinnacle guest).
  21. We're booked on Harmony in a few weeks. Wonder if all that water caused any damage?
  22. NEW Changed 2023 RCL menus are now available. Found them recently posted on the Royal Blog at.... https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2023/01/07/first-look-royal-caribbeans-new-main-dining-room-menus SINCE all RCL ships are to have these new changed uniform menu by beginning of Feb '23, it's likely I'll see for my Harmony cruise in late January.
  23. Well, we are going a day early. Except for being worried if it could happens to us,, so far we are unaffected since we 're a month away for our cruise & flying SOUTHWEST. Travel insurance agent says that our Nationwide policy would NOT have covered us for cruise losses had we missed the cruise due to the Sothwest screw-up. That's because it wasn't a plane's mechanical failure. But, they don't care that it was in part a SYSTEM FAILURE. Except for a CFAR policy, I wonder if any other brand insurance would cover any cruise loss from SOUTHWEST. Agent wouldn't answer that question.
  24. We are scheduled on SW 1/28/23 for RCL from FLL. Their flight time was good + price & free bags. Took precaution that's a day early, but now wonder if that should have been several days early . But, then the. FLL hotels are pricey about $300/night. Now we wonder if SW will straight things out by then and what if more horrible storms? We do have travel insurance, but don't know what that will do for us if can't make it to board ship because of airline?
