  1. Le Muse on the Divina (the YC dining room) is all the way in the AFT of the ship, so you'll want your butler to escort you the first time you go. Other than that the Divina's YC is lovely and intimate.
  2. Shaking my head. Literally, there is a schedule on the cruise ship. No one, I mean NO ONE, in the cruise line industry gives a hoot about a shuttle launch. And as a Central Florida resident I couldn't care either; heck, 99% of them are scrubbed.
  3. MSC has very low single supplements on some of their Flash Sale fares out of FL. Booked a solo Interior for 4 night on MSC Seashore on December 3rd for $288 and was upgraded to Deluxe Balcony.
  4. Shady spots are generally easy to find on deck - it's full sun that people have a hard time getting. Umbrellas are plentiful and free in the YC beach. Enjoy!
  5. Wasn't suggesting that the 2nd person would be free. Just wondering if anyone had encountered this before. (?)
  6. I don't think I've ever seen this. So, say you book & pay as a solo (with whatever solo supplement there is). You then bid and successfully upgrade to a new category, paying for 2 guests. You now want to add a person to your booking. 1) is it possible? 2) how would the fare work? Now if it is were non YC I can see a couple of options ranging from having the 2nd person book a 2nd cabin (assuming low supplement) and "joining" you in your cabin. At that point no one would theoretically care where you slept. But if your upgrade was to YC this wouldn't work... Anyone experienced this? Again, just hypothetically but given MSC's ever-changing rules....
  7. If no cabins show as bookable then the upgrade company might be data-mining. They collect information to see how much people are willing to pay for each category. It is used in setting prices going forward. From personal experience, YIN > a balcony (unless it's a Yacht Club Balcony, of course)
  8. Ok, so the more I thought about this the aunt didn't actually pay for 2 berths; she paid a 100% solo supplement WIHTOUT the port fees on the 2nd booking. Solo supplements can range from 0 - 100% (or more in some odd cases), but they do not represent 2 people. It is a penalty. Taking the OP's logic about purchasing 2 seats in the YC for dinner, what's the difference if my DH wants to stay in and watch Monday Night football and order pizza and I go to the YC dining room and take a non YC friend? Isn't that the same logic? I paid for 2 seats and since he's not coming I can invite anyone I want, right? (Or if his pizza counts as his meal, let's say he doesn't feel like having dinner at all, so I can just substitute someone else for him in the YC dining room by this logic, and he actually PAID for a place at the table....)
  9. Lots of very low single supplments on the Euribia I have seen. While we are not supposed to name websites the one previously referenced has a very robust search engine for solo deals. There was a Euribia out of Southampton and/or Le Havre for $298 USD for the 7 nighter as of a few days ago!
  10. I booked a 4 nighter on this week's flash sale as a solo, Interior, Bella. Paid $228 all in ( (It was $99 base fare, $19 solo supplement, $100 taxes.) for a December sailing on Seashore. Would have been content to have inside as I intend to sleep and recharge, however I just got assigned a Balcony cabin. The upgrade 🧚‍♀️ fairy is alive and well!!! Yahoo!!!
  11. Anecdotally, I once brought on a bottle of Prosecco, wrapped and tied with a ribbon with a card on it intended for one of the MSC staff at Guest Services that we had befriended a few weeks earlier. It was in plain sight and security at Pt Canaveral freaked out, confiscated it, and said that it would be sent to Guest Services. 😜 Precisely where it was supposed to go. It was actually rather funny in hindsight.
  12. Great. So you would be "very vigilant"... one of our favorite kind of entitled YC guests. Thanks for trying to intimidate the staff into bending to your interpretation of the "rules"
  13. No. I've tried booking on the Italian website but get locked out as you can't change country of origin. I didn't want to risk showing up at the port and being denied.
  14. It *might* is your best answer. Did you use a travel agent? If so, I'd ask them to help.
  15. 4 INCHES or 4 FEET? I'm pretty sure a 4Ft tree would be confiscated as a potential fire hazard
  16. You can request anything; you are likely not to get one, though.
  17. Mental note... become a travel agent 😉
  18. My guess is that someone else found the fare and posted it on a popular website where others hopped on and booked out the sailing. Had it only been a few cabins booked at the wrong rate they likely would have honored it.
  19. 1. MSC does not discount the drink packages or have sales like RCCL often does 2. Yes, you can cancel pre-purchased packages HOWEVER (and no one has yet noted), it could take two - three billing cycles to get the money refunded (we are on our 3rd month waiting on a $198 refundable deposit to come back) 3. The drinks onboard are very reasonable, however for a transatlantic I know I'd drink enough espresso based drinks a day to easily cover the "Easy" package, let other other libations. 4. To the person who suggested you look at booking an "all in" package; I have never seen them offered on such repositioning cruises. The intro rate for the cruise is dirt cheap, but they wifi and drinks are at rack rack.
