  1. Since Princess sold you the two excursions, I'd feel confident that they will either refund the second one or put you on the later train if your first excursion returns late. The meeting point for the train is likely outside near where you board, not all the way back on the ship. You could always ask ahead of time at the shore excursions desk. As for eating quickly in Skagway, we had a 40 minute break between excursions and were able to grab a quick bowl of crab bisque and a beer at the Skagway Fish Company before we boarded the train. It is located right there. A lot will depend on when your excursion returns but soup is always ready so just let the server know what your timing is.
  2. Many people have used and been happy with https://www.travelauthenticasia.com/ They will organize small group excursions at all ports in Vietnam. We are booked back to back on two Southeast cruises this winter. I have organized tours at all of our ports in Vietnam and Thailand on the first and am joining a couple that were already planned on the second. So far, they have been great to work with. If you reach out with your ship name and date and itinerary, they will send you a proposal of what they can offer. The contact is Ngoan Le. Her email address is ngoan.le@travelauthenticasia.com
  3. @tillys mom and @Astro Flyer are absolutely correct. These are terrific cabins. If E407, 409, 408 or 410 are available, grab them!
  4. The point is that you don’t need to drink a lot to save money by buying the Plus package. It makes sense even on a busy port day when a passenger may use it for the bare minimum, just grabbing a coffee and bottle of water in the morning and drinking a couple of glasses of wine with dinner. Those items would cost more purchased individually than the $35 or so that makes up the drink portion of the Plus package.
  5. Alaska cruises are more similar to Caribbean cruises than to European and Asia itineraries as far as dress goes. Last summer I saw only a few tuxedos and a handful of men in dark suits. Your son will certainly not feel out of place in a sport coat, but if he skips it he will not stand out like a sore thumb.
  6. What address do you use for contact information in Australia?
  7. I think you are mistaken. If the price difference between Zero Alcohol and Plus is $20 or $30, it only takes two drinks to come out ahead.
  8. There is of course nothing wrong with not getting a package, but finding value is all very individual and doesn’t require drinking “a lot” of alcohol. For me, 2 glasses of wine ($36) and a bottle of Pellegrino at dinner($3) and one coffee a day ($5 if I remember correctly) makes the Plus Package well worth it even as an Elite.
  9. We’ve had 4 cruises on Celebrity since the restart and more than twice as many on Princess. Before that we’d been almost exclusively loyal to Celebrity with only one cruise on Princess. I choose mostly based on itinerary and still find the experiences very similar. It seems though that while the food and service have declined on Celebrity since the restart, they have improved on Princess. The deal breaker for me was hearing Celebrity refer to itself as the “culinary line” in a webinar when the week before they were serving only burgers, pizza, and pasta in the buffet on Apex for dinner. The staff on Princess also seems consistently friendlier and more helpful. If you find an appealing itinerary, I think giving Princess a try would be well worth it.
  10. I think traveling by train is MUCH more comfortable than traveling by bus. The ability to get up and walk around, outside viewing platforms, glass domed cars, drink service, dining cars and bathrooms are all factors for me. I also agree with the advice to spend enough time in Denali for the Tundra Tour. Starting in Fairbanks with 2 nights in Denali and ending in Anchorage would make the most sense to me if you are sailing from Whittier after your tour and want to make the most of the 4 nights you have available. (My pick would be the yellow 94C in that case) The tours in your screenshot are a mix of round trips from Anchorage and one-way trips with different starting and ending points. Deciding where you want to begin and end the tour will help narrow your choices. Have you picked a cruise? Do you have dates in mind? Plugging that information and dates into the search tool will show availability. The difference between blue and yellow tours is the inclusion of an overnight stay at the beginning or end of the tour. The blue box will that says Open Tour Search can be hard to spot on the page https://www.princesslodges.com/alaska-rail-tours/rail-tours/
  11. No, we didn’t go to any of the production shows and I’m sure comedians and bands are different than in May and June
  12. The production shows were at 8:00 and 10:00 earlier this summer and there were other shows like comedy at other times. You can see the times in the Journey View activities timeline in the app. They can populate as much as 6 or 8 weeks ahead of time. No show reservations are possible but there are seats reserved until about 10 minutes before production shows for those with the Princess Premium package
  13. Yes, you can check-in with just your passport. If you don’t want to print your luggage tags ahead of time, I’d be sure to know your cabin number so the porters can write luggage tags for you. I don’t know if you can refuse your medallion at check-in and ask them to make you a card instead in the terminal. Even if you have to use your medallion to board though, you can usually request a plastic card at guest services if you have an objection to using your medallion.
  14. I wasn't disagreeing with that advice. I was simply pointing out that using it for the itinerary was not strictly necessary. As others have pointed out, we don’t have enough information to know that. For example, if they are traveling alone with a minor, both individuals would need a passport to board the ship
  15. The hoop jumping involves getting a passport.
  16. But this poster says they have a valid passport. Why in the world would you disagree with the advice they have received to bring it?
  17. A passport is required to board a flight to the US from Canada unless they have a Nexus card https://help.cbp.gov/s/article/Article-3618?language=en_US
  18. There is no way to change what has already been marinated but you could probably ask for shrimp with no marinade . As others suggested you would need to request a special marinade ahead of time
  19. I hadn’t seen yellow since right after the restart either. I had it once over recent travel. I think Australia/New Zealand is the only place that even still has vaccine or testing requirements.
  20. The app sends you to the website for excursions until you are onboard. Many are having issues logging into the website recently. I find that if I try a second time my credentials are accepted
  21. I did a Princess Lodges rail tour that was completely separate from my cruise and loved it. To me, traveling every leg by train was way better than doing half by bus on a cruisetour. https://www.princesslodges.com/alaska-rail-tours/learn/
  22. The poster may very well need a passport. For example, if they are traveling alone with a minor or plan certain excursions, passports are required.
  23. Document requirements depend on your nationality, itinerary, and other factors. For example, if you are one adult traveling with one or more minors, everyone in your party needs a passport. You can see Princess’ Travel Document requirements here https://www.princess.com/learn/faq/pre-cruise/prepare-for-your-cruise/
  24. We were aboard for four weeks in May and June and saw the same. No one wearing a tuxedo could possibly have felt out of place.
  25. The second formal night on a cruise is now sometimes listed as “White and Gold” or “Dress to Impress”. That is another reason why formal wear is seen less often on that night. I doubt that that many of those who choose to dress formally do it because they feel forced or that they are uncomfortable. I believe the majority of them do it because they enjoy it. I think it’s very unlikely that men are running out and buying tuxedos because of the requested dress code.
