  1. Kale is available but so is a classic Caesar salad
  2. You must bring proof of the negative results. Details are here https://www.princess.com/plan/cruise-with-confidence/cruise-health/frequently-asked-questions/au-cruises/
  3. Royal Caribbean has recently added non-smoking casinos on their Oasis class ships.
  4. Looks like Planks will be open this evening on the Caribbean. Neither were open on the day we sailed. Not sure about our second evening.
  5. The info is here https://www.carnivalcorp.com/static-files/50351a91-4dc0-4f6b-bfec-684647e6129f
  6. The cost for gratuity and internet is about $31 per day. It would take spending $25 ($29.50 after 18% gratuity) on beverages to come out ahead. A specialty coffee, two bottles of water or soft drinks, and a glass of wine would get you there.
  7. I am on board and haven’t seen or heard anything about them opening. Will try to keep watching
  8. Zumba is being offered free at 9:00 am on sea days.
  9. If I understand you are saying that without having any funds in your casino bank you went to the cashier and asked them to access your shipboard account and convert your OBC to cash. Is that what you mean? That has never been an option.
  10. I did a Princess Lodges rail tour that was completely separate from my cruise and loved it. I was glad we chose it instead of a cruisetour. There was no bus travel nor were there lots of organized group excursions or planned meals. We could pick the excursions we wanted at each lodge or book something on our own. To me it was the best of all worlds - hotels, train tickets and transfers arranged, leave luggage outside your door each departure morning and find it in your room at the next destination, but spend each day as you wish. To me, traveling every leg by train was way better than doing half by bus on a cruisetour. https://www.princesslodges.com/alaska-rail-tours/learn/ My suggestion would always be land first followed by the more relaxing cruise. You also usually have the longer flight first and end with the shorter flight home if you do a southbound cruise. I chose this unescorted 6 night southbound tour from Fairbanks to Anchorage followed by 2 nights in Anchorage before a 7 night southbound cruise from Whittier and would highly recommend it. https://www.princesslodges.com/alaska-tours/itinerary-3ts/?from_search_query=dG91clR5cGU9ZXhwbG9yZXImc2VhcmNoT25seT0w#3TS A day trip we really enjoyed from Anchorage was hiking at the Matanuska Glacier. We did a transfer to Whittier that included a tour as well. Both were booked with Salmonberry Tours.
  11. The question I answered was “Has anyone been turned away from the main dining room for wearing shorts”. I replied that I haven’t but have seen it happen to others several times recently. I don’t personally care what people wear, but feel they should be aware that the “no shorts” policy is enforced by some dining room managers. If eating in the MDR is important to them, they should be prepared and be sure to pack long pants.
  12. I haven’t, but I saw people turned away consistently on the Sky last November.
  13. That is exactly what I said. As long as passengers follow that simple set of requirements, they will be fine on all nights no matter which ship, which itinerary, or who is staffing the dining room.
  14. The minimum standard for smart casual dress is fine on any night but there is a dress code. Some restaurant managers turn people wearing shorts away at the MDR. It’s possible that the dress code won’t be followed but no one can predict whether the policy will be enforced on any ship on any given night. If eating in the MDR is important to a passenger, they should plan accordingly. https://www.princess.com/learn/faq/pre-cruise/what-to-pack-for-a-cruise/
  15. There is no form needed. Just send one email with the required information for both bookings https://www.carnivalcorp.com/static-files/50351a91-4dc0-4f6b-bfec-684647e6129f
  16. We were aboard in May and June. There were certainly plenty of men complying with the requested dress of tuxedo or dark suit but also plenty wearing what is requested on smart casual nights. I didn’t see any men wearing shorts in the dining room.
  17. Travel summaries are not showing updated packages yet but the package listing you see in the app has the new items
  18. You can also see it under “Packages” in the app
  19. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I am a longtime Celebrity cruiser who tried Princess in 2017 when they offered an itinerary that I couldn’t get on Celebrity. Since then, we’ve sailed with them quite often. To me, the two are more alike than different. One thing I like about Princess is the passenger laundry facilities since we tend to take longer trips and I don’t like sending much of my clothing to the ship’s laundry. I also like the availability of savory items in the coffee shop. What I dislike is that they allow smoking in the casino. I definitely agree that Celebrity has nicer cabins and bathrooms, especially on Edge class ships. The one thing Princess has is gigantic closets which are nice on long itineraries. We had plenty of room for two sets of golf clubs as well as everything else on the Enchanted Princess. Celebrity used to have much, much better food than Princess, but Princess has improved since the restart. It’s closer than it used to be. They also offer great variety in their buffet. I had the bad luck of trying to grab dinner on the Apex at 8:00 after an excursion this past winter and found only pizza, pasta, and burgers in the buffet. Hopefully that really has changed. My tip for wine drinkers trying Princess is that the “Premier” fare package is $20 per day more than the “Plus” package and includes much better options. At $60 and $80 per day they both also include internet and gratuities (along with many other things) so they a good deal compared to just a beverage package. There is also a wine bar on many Princess ships offering a nice selection and Riedel stemware.
  20. If you look in the app under Packages, you should see the updated items
  21. It shows in the app but doesn’t appear on the Travel Summary yet
  22. Since Princess sold you the two excursions, I'd feel confident that they will either refund the second one or put you on the later train if your first excursion returns late. The meeting point for the train is likely outside near where you board, not all the way back on the ship. You could always ask ahead of time at the shore excursions desk. As for eating quickly in Skagway, we had a 40 minute break between excursions and were able to grab a quick bowl of crab bisque and a beer at the Skagway Fish Company before we boarded the train. It is located right there. A lot will depend on when your excursion returns but soup is always ready so just let the server know what your timing is.
  23. Many people have used and been happy with https://www.travelauthenticasia.com/ They will organize small group excursions at all ports in Vietnam. We are booked back to back on two Southeast cruises this winter. I have organized tours at all of our ports in Vietnam and Thailand on the first and am joining a couple that were already planned on the second. So far, they have been great to work with. If you reach out with your ship name and date and itinerary, they will send you a proposal of what they can offer. The contact is Ngoan Le. Her email address is ngoan.le@travelauthenticasia.com
  24. @tillys mom and @Astro Flyer are absolutely correct. These are terrific cabins. If E407, 409, 408 or 410 are available, grab them!
  25. The point is that you don’t need to drink a lot to save money by buying the Plus package. It makes sense even on a busy port day when a passenger may use it for the bare minimum, just grabbing a coffee and bottle of water in the morning and drinking a couple of glasses of wine with dinner. Those items would cost more purchased individually than the $35 or so that makes up the drink portion of the Plus package.
