  1. ok, i searched. and searched. b-i-l has a baby mom (from now on known as dumb idiot-and not just because of this situation). her application for passport was denied because she supplied the wrong version of birth certificate. she waited almost 2 months to tell me and then request a new copy of her birth certificate (she says they kept the other one). she has a photocopy of the very very beat up birth certificate she turned in. she was borne in texas, we live in florida. so she can't go in person to get one. she already asked for the new one expediated back when she told me one month ago we sail in literally ONE WEEK. it may or may not come in time. this is a family cruise (bil will get a letter from her just in case). and their solution right now (if the new birth certificate doesn't come), is for her to show up with the photo copy and hope they let her on. i know when they check you in, they look at your documents. i have always sailed with a passport. what if Carnival allows her on (accepts her birth certificate copy), but then customs is not happy with the copy when she come back? what are the chances that they will accept this copy? (I know they will accept a copy, but its not an official copy and her original is very beat up).
  2. yay! i use my phone for certain things but i liked being able to see everythign at once.
  3. my last cruise didnt have any printed fun times. not even the half sheet they used to have. i looked at coffee shop and guest services. was told they don't print it anymore at all.
  4. i couldnt get any service to stream last november. it would start but glitch every few minutes. wasn't worth it.
  5. yes you can. but everyone from both rooms needs to go to guest services to ask for the two extra cards.
  6. we were on the magic in novemeber and ate at the steakhouse. there were bar stools. and not cow print ones. we saw someone eating there. dont know if they had reservatiosn
  7. we were on in november. it is an older ship. meaning some of the decor is dated. but it was clean. we had a grand suite and they had usb ports installed so i think the JS had them too. food portions were smaller (i had enough to eat. usually i end up with left over food. now i ate the entire dinner entre). husband needed two entrees but he usually eats more than me and used to eat his entre and then finish mine. we had any time dining and service and seating were slow. i dont know about set dining. if you have any time dining. check in about 15 min BEFORE you want to remotely eat. and it will always say 15 min but it is longer. i will say that they dont utilize all the areas on the ship enough (but that was how it was on the magic last year too). food was good. not great. i dont like the changes made to the sea day brunch because it is all lunch foods (but it was the same on the magic) the serenity is small at the back of the ship but that is where it has always been on that ship (or since i went on her the first time in 2013). no bar in the serenity area.
  8. you could put the lights on the inside of the window or door to your balcony. i know it says no string lights. but i've seen them many times on doors and in windows. i would say only have them on when you are in the room
  9. we were on the magic for the same 8 days to the same ports. you don't tender at any. aruba, we got off and managed to get a tour from people in port (you can tell that they are legit by their license plates if it says T or O. we had a man named Sonny. it was 25$ A person and about 2.5 hours long. he was AMAZING we did the hato caves and downtown in curacao. NOT WORTH IT grand turk- u get off and beach is right there. the chairs without umbrellas are free. the rest they will rent. we paid 30$ for two. but they will fill the chairs up from the far end first. and its walking on sand. so it will be a hike. the magic is nice. joey the cruise director is great (normally we dont notice the CD). they don't utilize a lot of the spaces like they should. go to the love and marriage show. comedians are a hit or miss. they have a silent night disco party. thats fun. odd times for the movies outside. they would be at 6pm and then midnight.
  10. i was there last friday. i had filled out my paperwork iwth carnival stating i was vax. no one at GT asked me. but a family in front of me getting off was turned away from getting off the ship by carnival. because the parents weren't vax. i filled out the health thing stating i had a vax but was never asked me about it. so most likely you would be fine. but still a risk.
  11. depending on when they added this and when you were on... now a non smoking casino on deck 4.
  12. we go to grand turk in a week. we were told to bring the cards and that it would be checked when we were getting off. i'll try to remember to check back here and let you know.
  13. how many arein each group? how far does A and B go?
  14. what is the silent white party? i'm assuming dress in white, but what about the silent part?
  15. water depth is back to normal. there is a channel dredged. usually the ships simply fill their ballast tanks with water to "sink" the ship a few feet to go under the skyway
  16. that would work for people who are flying. but they would probably have to pay extra to change their tickets. and tampa gets a lot of people who drive there.
  17. hope you manage to get in and that you still have a hotel room avaliable.
  18. all the ships i have been on (I HAVE not been on the Spirit) have really really bright balconey lights. strongly suggest bringing a book light because it will disturb neighbors
  19. we use those too. we lent them to my in laws when they went. def worth it
  20. i do this and i pull it forward enough that the door wont close. i leave it open over night. helps cool everything down
  21. since there are 3 places for ships to dock and it depends if they go straight in or if they back in. so flip of a coin.
  22. often the stateroom attendant is one that is more experienced and has better reviews so you will get a little better service (he brought multiple buckets of ice and put our wine bottles in them). and we automatically had bathrobes without having to ask. but nothing fancy, mainly just more room. and a free bag of laundry.
