  1. Agree re turndown. Not necessary for me. Neither are wine waiters per se. But not to able to order a bottle of wine with dinner is rather basic.
  2. Yes sorry, wine waiters had gone, but on my last cruise before Covid, I had ordered my wine on the first day and it was on the table, then the remaining wine was put away for the next day etc. I think this has all stopped and I've no idea how it works now. Sounds like you have to carry your wine back to your cabin. What a farce.
  3. I tend to agree, but I can't believe they are no wine waiters at dinner. That is such a basic thing. And Megabear you are also right in that cruising has totally lost its glamour for me. We will do the October one, unless something else happens, like they sell the ship, which has already happened to us twice and I think that will be it, unless a Fred one appeals at the last minute. Our friend just did a cruise with Fred and all the normal things were happening on Bolette. Turndown, wine at dinner etc.
  4. We were in time to get back from Venice, taking a Vaporetto and then the little train to the port. However, 2 vaporettos were totally full and we had to wait over 40 minutes for the next one. I was beginning to panic. We finally got to the port and a car whizzed up to us and shouted "If you're for Aurora - get in". Now I was not about to get in a strange unmarked car and started to argue. He said get in, you're late!. We were driven to the crew entrance, passports scanned and got on board. Apparently our names had been called a few times! Phew!
  5. It's beginning to sound absolutely dreadful. I hope things are better on Aurora in October 2023.
  6. My middle name is not on the personaliser, never has been.
  7. definitely won't be allowed in the Main Dining room. Even in the bars, a t shirt won't be allowed. Just a shirt and jacket would be fine.
  8. Mind you it does show on Madeira arrivals for 15th December. P&O site says it's in Madeira on the 13th!
  9. Yes you would think it would have a booked slot for 9th December. It's not on the list for Madeira either.
  10. Agree. Just been looking at cruises on Aurora. They have 5 sold out for next year, but I noticed the 28 day cruise to the Caribbean was only £2020 (ish) which is only £72 pp per night. As this situation in the economy worsens, they are going to have a hard time filling ships.
  11. Unbelievable when you think that the US are still running Guantanamo Bay there.
  12. Not surprised! The name is enough to put people off 🤣
  13. Don't know what makes people assume that if you are older you go to bed early. My OH is 83 and I am 75. We never go to bed before 1130 at home and later on the ship. The late show doesn't finish until 11.30 or later.
  14. Hi, haven't cruised with Fred for a while. Thinking about a cruise on Bolette and wondered if anyone could tell me what she is like.
