  1. Have you seen the price of a cabin if you purchase one? Also, if you want to sell it back after a year you lose 40% People must be mad to sell their home and buy one of these.
  2. is that when another family member is travelling with you, or staying at home?
  3. Yes, Parking4Cruises are excellent. We often use them.
  4. Well one is a virus and the other is a bacteria. So can't see how that is effective against noro which is a virus. Looks like it's more for babies.
  5. we are on board late October, having not sailed on her for 10 years. But not concerned at all.
  6. I booked my upcoming cruise when on board Aurora and got a good deal and £520 OBC in an inside cabin. recently they were offering £60 only OBC. It's no good worrying about if things can change. Of course they can. when you booked, it was a good deal. they change deals all the time. It's no different from buying something in a shop and the following week it's half price.
  7. As they do not know whether it is noro or a foodborne bug, there is very little they can do. As said before, as it is very common in hospitals, it can't be anything to do with people's hygiene. spent 6 days in hospital after breaking my hip. Hygiene was everything and they still had to move a lady out of our ward because of a tummy bug.
  8. Same thing on Ventura https://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/canary-islands-cruise-norovirus-b2591421.html Also, MSC, Celebrity. Not just P&O
  9. My TA only wants the money 2 weeks before P&O, so quite happy with that, especially as the money goes straight to P&O
  10. Both the TAs I use have been absolutely great. No complaints at all.
  11. Yes, they couldn't really have polished wooden tables could they. They would get ruined. Our tablecloth comes off when we have people for dinner, and there's nothing like a real wooden table with crystal glasses and red napkins.
  12. Do you know, when you read some of these posts about anti bac anti this and that, you may be wondering how we survived after childhood. I'm sure the same people don't wash their hands now than they ever did.
  13. Yes agree. Our friend who used to cruise with us always took the double for single occupancy. So much more room as well.
  14. Well it's funny you say that, but we hardly ever caught colds or flu and there must have been many passengers on the aircraft with it. Yes, our immune systems were really good. What we did get was some nasty tropical stomach bugs. One of mine had to be sent to the School of Tropical Medicine before they found out what it was!! All this anti baccing that people do at home has been proven not to help a child's immunity. You need to be exposed to bugs to develop an immune system. They say having a dog in the home is very good for kids.
  15. Well, I must have been very lucky or have a strong constitution. I have never caught any of these bugs on a ship and I don't spend my time santising this and that any more than I do at home. No I don't walk round the cabin with an antibac wipe either. I mean if you do this, you must do it everywhere, all the time. It just isn't feasible.
  16. I would never take the drinks package for quite a few reasons. With our current drinking pattern of 2 large glasses of wine at 7 pm in the Crows Nest and a bottle with dinner, a rare coffee and don't do soft drinks or cocktails, we might be ashore one day, we might be not well another day. I can't imagine paying the drinks package and then something happens and you don't spend half of it.
  17. Actually Immodium is not good if you have an infection or virus because it stops the nasties being expelled.
  18. I thought someone said the doctors on the ship had no facilities to test for noro?
  19. I'm afraid if I had to think about doing all things every time I touched something, it wouldn't be worth cruising! So I wash my hands and then I hold a menu and then I sanitise. Don't think so. You'd be doing that a hundred times a day?
  20. It's true! Been cruising since about 2003, never caught anything except a cold once. AND I do have a sensitive stomach, IBS, etc. My husband has never caught anything exccept a bad cough either. So do we just have strong constitutions or what? And yes always use the buffet for breakfast and lunch. Also, have been on quite a few ships where there was Noro, and they resorted to all the usual precautions.
  21. and yet we always use the buffet for breakfast and lunch and have never come down with it.
  22. I really don't understand how they can sue for this. Anybody could have caught it without knowing and brought it on board.
  23. The last time I heard from a Captain that a ship had many more years was on Oriana. She was gone in 3 months and I had to change to Aurora. Same thing happened with Adonia, so I have no faith in what ship Captains say at all.
