  1. Thank you for doing this research for us! 😉 I noticed they have luggage storage service too! I may have to rethink my Vancouver plans leading up to my red eye back to Boston in August! I am currently booked on the NCL post cruise tour because of the luggage issues, and my latitudes discount and $50 excursion credit too… but now I have other options!! Thank you for your awesome review too!! I’ll be on the Jewel SB from Seward after a six day land tour. This entire post and all the questions and answers was so helpful!!
  2. thank you everyone for the thoughtful responses! I am already booked, locked and loaded so to speak, arriving July 26th! This is my very first inclusive tour. I usually do all the research and book everything independently, but I booked this one later than usual. I am also going solo and I wanted to be with a group. Time will tell if this will be my first and last inclusive/group tour! lol. Thanks again!!
  3. Hi everyone. For those who have done the NCL Land Tours, I am wondering how accurate the schedule is that NCL sends out in the Alaska Cruise Tours brochure? I am taking the Denali Talkeetna Explorer land tour first, then the SB cruise on the Jewel. I am exploring additional sightseeing opportunities at each of our stops along the way (Fairbanks, Denali & Talkeetna) to Seward. I want to book some things in advance but am hesitating around the schedule, especially where I have to book exact tour times or pick up times. I am exploring transportation options too. Fairbanks example, Chena Hot Springs and North Pole Alaska, and squeezing both in, one after arriving on Day 1, and the other after day 2 scheduled activities. My flight lands around 2:30PM Day 1, and our Scheduled Tours return to the Hotel 4PM Day 2. Both days puts me at an evening schedule to do other things. I am realistic in that I want to plan as much as possible but know in reality that I may not fit everything in! Any experience would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!! Debbie
  4. The prices are comparable if you get the buy 3, get one deal on the ship. The other thing to consider is where the cigarette’s are made. The cigarettes on the ship are from Virginia while the one’s on the islands are from various other countries. It can change the taste… or so I am told! I bought some in st Maarten in March because the ship didn’t carry a particular brand I needed as a gift. The others I bought in the ship!
  5. I sail solo often . Here are my experiences…A few years back, NCL would allow a solo traveler to split the coupon and use it for two separate solo dinners on different nights. NCL stopped that practice and at the time this clause covered that change. I have since, but not in a while (post Covid), used my coupon to cover dinner for two with someone who was not in my cabin, essentially treating someone to dinner. Given all the post Covid changes (belt tightening), I would not be surprised if this was no longer an option! I also did ask once if I could order two meals with the coupon one night and was told no. At the time it was more about NCL allowing the coupon to cover a soup and a salad instead of an appetizer and a soup or salad. Since then, I find I get more value with the coupon at restaurants with cover charges than at the a la carte’s because of limited non-seafood appetizer options. Admitted picky eater here!
  6. I’ve sailed in suites and Haven suites outside the Haven on many ships on NCL over the years. I struggle with not choosing an aft facing cabin, which is my favorite location on the ship! I sailed in the Haven proper (aft wasn’t available) for the first time in early March on Getaway, and it was by far my best experience to date! The service, having the haven bar and restaurant steps outside my cabin were amazing! It was 12 days, so the haven menu got repetitive…. Also I don’t eat seafood! I got creative and they were absolutely happy to let me mix and match from the various menu options! I ate a lot of filet mignon and various potatoes! I do so miss the filet and eggs though! For lunch it was a double Cesar salad with chicken! I mixed in specialty restaurants for dinner, and wandered to the casino periodically! But I stayed in the haven more than I have in the past!! Now, I’m going to have a hard time not wanting to sail in the haven!
  7. I am sailing NCL Jewel end of July. I booked Hubbard Glacier and Wilderness Explorer. It was really expensive at $399, but with $50 excursion credit and latitudes discount, it came down to $296. Still expensive and I was thinking about cancelling but some of the comments here made me think I’ve made the right choice. I also booked Endicott Arm and Glacier Explorer. Another expensive tour, but they all seem to be! I am sailing solo so I don’t have to pay the high prices for multiple people, and I don’t know if I’ll ever travel to Alaska again, so I am splurging! I’m glad I came across this post! Thanks for all the comments! Debbie
  8. One cruise I called the access desk and they were willing to give my niece the soda package instead of the beverage package since she is sober and not drinking alcohol. Ultimately, we ended up cancelling the cruise so I can’t say that it worked out as we requested.
  9. I’ve sailed solo often and have not been treated any differently when heading to the dining rooms. I sometimes get a little more attention being solo. Ask for a two top if you haven’t found anyone to have dinner with and if you feel funny about them clearing the second setting when dining alone the ask them to leave it. Also ask for a window seat, if one is available. This way you aren’t in the middle of a big room feeling like everyone is looking at you. Likely they aren’t any way. I did have one occasion when they took the chair. I felt a little funny but made sure that didn’t happen again. Expect to be asked if you are waiting for someone. I’ve never asked to be seated with others so I am not sure if that is even an option. Enjoy your solo cruise!
  10. I called after seeing it here and on fb. I had already purchased the upgraded beverage and wifi packages. Changing to this package upgrade saved me $123, and I get two extra specialty dining nights! So for my 7 day it was definitely worth it.
  11. It’s been a while but my last vibe did have premium plus items… Woodford bourbon, I thought vueve too and some higher end wines.
  12. Thank you for the correction to immigrations… I knew it was one or the other. Fingers crossed that I can stay on the ship! Thanks for the quick response!!
  13. I had the same question as OP. I’m sailing on the Pearl, Boston to Bermuda with a stop in Bar Harbor Maine. I have two booking numbers and I am in two different Aft Facing Penthouse Suites. I know NCL will complete a Covid test for me between the two weeks but I wasn’t sure whether or not I have to get off the ship and whether or not I had to take my luggage with me. I believe we’ll go through customs in bar harbor before returning to Boston. Any one do a b2b on Boston to Bermuda yet this season?
  14. I booked in April for August and the single supplement was waived. I’ve never seen it this far out before!
  15. Aft facing haven was amazing on breakaway!
  16. The ones on the ship don’t taste the same as the ones at The swizzle Inn, which claims to be the original Rum Swizzle…. Swizzle Inn, Swagger Out!!
  17. We took the Hawaii cruise 6 years ago. There were 4 of us and we rented a 4 door Jeep in all of our ports. We loved having the freedom of touring on our own. From the road to Hana (all the way around) to surmise on Haleakala to tubing in an irrigation ditch and a doors off helicopter tour, plus the national parks (we had an annual pass that saved us some money)… we had a blast driving around!
