Sadly this is true - not just no cruise ships either we were supposed to be on Majestic in Feb 2023, but about 3 weeks before final payment in 2022, Majestic docked in Sydney with over 800 covid positive people on board... we decided to cancel that cruise mainly due to the large number of covid cases still happening on cruise ships We're on Crown Princess in December, so hopefully we'll be ok.... we're certainly not living our lives around covid, but we are still weary of catching it

but then there are others who really want / need the wifi to keep in touch with loved ones by video link / zoom / whatsapp on a daily basis The plus package works for some and doesn't for others - simple as that

4-5 hours free time in Sydney

thanks - we've been to Sydney a couple of times before and have seen places like Harbour Bridge, Opera House and Botanical gardens.... but can check what excursions are on offer from Princess We did look at Bounce? I think it was and I sent them an enquiry asking if they were open Boxing day and didn't heard back -
Hi All, We're disembarking our cruise on Boxing day 26 Dec 2024 in Sydney OPT We will probably be off the ship 9-9:30am? and our flight doesn't leave Sydney until 5:45pm Our plan at the moment is to get train / princess shuttle bus to the airport, drop our bags off (check in?), then go from the airport to somewhere for shopping / sightseeing. Is there any mall / shopping centre close-ish to the Airport? could we go to Birkenhead point factory shops from the Airport? or is there anywhere else we could easily get to from the Airport? any advice would be appreciated

How much luggage do you take for a 2 week cruise.
Muffinz replied to MicCanberra's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
On our first (and to date only) cruise we just took a large suitcase each... I had a backpack to take on the plane. We had 1 night in a hotel Pre cruise, 13 night cruise and 2 nights in a hotel post cruise. Whet I did though was put a small carry on suitcase in my main case, so on the last night of the cruise I kept that out with my clothes..etc.. for the next day. We will probably do something similar in December on our next cruise (from Sydney) -

I remember getting advice on here for everything, when we did our first cruise (2018) One lady said her and her sister went on a 7 day cruise to the Caribbean and took 34 pairs of shoes between them! I think I took 4 pairs on our cruise.... -
My Wife and I don't have many 'overseas' holidays... But when we do go away we want to enjoy ourselves, have fun and relax...etc.... the last thing we want to do is try to add up how much each drink is and make sure we don't spend too much. So the plus package was a no brainer for us - not just for the drinks, but for the Wifi too - would be good to be able to keep in touch with family by e-mail / Facebook.

Difficulties making dinner bookings on the app

ok thanks for that - we can look forward to an e-mail from Princess in the near future explaining it all 🙂 -
Difficulties making dinner bookings on the app
Muffinz replied to Boatharbour's topic in Princess Cruises
We've not received any e-mail from Princess about changes to the dining times or anything... but we can't make dining reservations for the MDR until our cruise is paid in full in September (for December 14 Cruise) - that's what the message on the app tells me "to access dining reservations, your voyage must be paid in full or you must be Platinum, or Elite Captains Circle member or have Full Suite or Mini Club Class Suite" -
We've booked our first Princess Cruise and ticked the 'no upgrade' box when booking, because as we've read here on cruise critic sometiumes the upgrade can be in a location or deck you don't want to be in. Lets hope Princess don't upgrade us by accident!

thanks for that - very helpful

do we need to sign in to say we've watched it or something? how long does it take to watch?
-
thanks - yes we've watched dozens of ship tours on YouTube... but thought it would be nice do an actual one do you still have to do a muster drill and report to a Muster station? I think I read (on here probably) that it's now done by the App or stateroom TV?

We are on Crown Princess in December 2024 and I was wondering if Princess do a 'ship tour' on embarkation day? I'm not talking about an in-depth tour of the kitchens / laundry...etc... but if they do brief one of the ship showing where the dining rooms / buffet / bars / pools are?

We have got the plus package on our cruise in December - we did the math and it made sense to have the package. We're not huge drinkers, but knowing you can go to a bar and get a beer / wine / cocktail without worrying about the cost is great.... We tend to drink more when we're on holiday relaxing anyway And we get wifi and that's a big plus We're not too fussed on the premium deserts and probably won't use the free gym classes, but the package still makes sense to us

Vancouver hotel pre-cruise
Muffinz replied to tunisbridal's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
We stayed in Vancouver in July last year to see Tears for Fears in concert and we stayed at the Hyatt Regency. Fantastic Hotel in a great location - about a 7-10 min easy walk downhill to the Pier / Canada place and right next door to Burrard Street Train station. Pan Pacific is right on Canada place and you can't get any closer to the cruise terminal than that, but that was a lot more expensive from memory -
one way to possibly alleviate the issue of having your wife / hubby / partners drinks being added to your medallion account, is to take it in turns to order drinks. 1 person orders 2 drinks for themselves and their partner, then next time the partner orders the drinks?
