  1. I absolutely would do this once I retire. It would be great if they could do it at least every five years.
  2. Sorry, I read that wrong. I thought they had to choose package A or B and the original was being removed.
  3. So you don't get drink vouchers on the world cruise? They should give some table wine at dinner at least.
  4. I like that it's not a hot tub area. There should be more of those up top but I like the quiet atmosphere and it not being a place people spend all day camped out.
  5. Apparently a fleet wide problem with the Caesar salads. It's like they dress them and hold them in a warming tray before serving. Thanks for sharing your cruise, love Anthem. So many nice nooks and crannies to spend time in if the weather isn't cooperating.
  6. Absolutely, the Windjammer on Oasis is way too small. At least there are a bunch of other places to eat though.
  7. I haven't looked it up but I felt like the elevators were always an issue on my recent Liberty cruise. Are there less elevators/ passenger count? I don't know. There are things I don't like about Oasis class but I felt like there were adequate elevators despite the large number of pax. The Windjammer also felt inadequate for the number of passengers. Everything else was fine, easy to get bar drinks, seats for the ice show, etc. I think Radiance class is my favorite on the whole.
  8. Generally the best bet is the Black Friday sale. I have a 14 nighter in September and I purchased the internet last November during that sale.
  9. I just did this on a 4 night sailing. I went to the voom help desk on embarkation to make sure we did it right. I "bought" one day, and then a second day, then my partner "bought" the remaining 2 days package. Make sure you see $0.00 as the purchase price. Each day counts down 24 hours. You can easily separate your days as one day purchases.
  10. Additional tipping of $10-20 per meal on the UDP is above my generosity point. I tip on my diamond plus vouchers, but I swear I never see anyone else tipping and bartenders always seem surprised. I suspect the people who spend a lot of time hanging at a particular bar all week tip for the night/week, rather than per drink.
  11. I'm recently off Liberty and was very happy with the new main dining room experience. Service was timely but not rushed. I thought I would miss the old menus but there was always something that I wanted to order. I had no problem subbing a baked potato instead of rice one night. The tables around us were served multiple apps and entrees and it was impressive how quickly they brought out each plate. I really enjoyed everything I ate, to me it was a definite improvement in quality and preparation. I'm not a polyanna, I have no trouble calling out things I don't like on a sailing, MDR was 10/10. (Liberty's Windjammer is like a 4/10)
  12. Oh that is tight going under the bridge. I never miss being out on deck for this when I sail from Bayonne.
  13. I've never gotten an obstructed view when I've done balcony GTY. The big risk is being far from the elevator, which has happened to me. You have to decide how much money that is worth to you. If the price difference is enough I go with the GTY.
  14. The gap between the MDR and the specialty restaurants has grown wider. I hate having to pay extra but more often than not, I get the ultimate dining package now. The food is much better and the service is exactly what I want. Friendly, but not overbearing, and 100% on point. The only caveat is to not overeat repeatedly. I never have that problem in the MDR.
  15. I've never had a problem sailing from Miami. I always go in the day before and make sure to visit my favorite restaurants, do some sightseeing, etc. I've never cruised from PC, only had it as a port stop.
  16. I'm cruising next week and I still don't see the main dining room menus in the app. I click on dining, then on main dining? Am I looking in the wrong place?
  17. The assistant waiter service has really fallen off in my experience. Perhaps a lot of new staff, language barrier, less training? Coffee service after dessert is my pet peeve. I want my coffee with my dessert. I'm increasingly sold on specialty restaurants where the service doesn't miss a beat.
  18. The sales I've seen are more along the lines of stacking services, so getting you to spend more to "save" more. They are always upselling in there too.
  19. I like the Unusual Negroni. Lillet Blanc replances Vermouth, and Aperol replaces Campari. Gin remains. It's a less aggressive sipper and a very pretty color. It's all equal parts and stuff they usually have on hand so it's easy for bartenders to make.
  20. Asking for a friend, but I'm interested in this for myself as well because I really don't like the amount of sodium in cruise food, or eating out in general. She filled out the special needs form and the reply said to check in with the dining room captain after boarding. This addresses the MDR, but is there anything to be done at Windjammer? I know they have a gluten free section, but I don't think I've noticed any dishes labeled lower sodium. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this? It's a medical need. Is it possible to special order something there to be cooked without added salt? Do you let them know the day before and say you will be there at a certain time?
  21. I thought the food quality and experience was light year's better on Navigator's El Loco Fresh than on Oasis. This sounds like just another IT issue but maybe it's time for a refresh.
  22. I pack a small serving tray. Bring bucket to any water station. Fill bucket with cups of ice. Pick up a couple of cocktails and a snack. Return to balcony. Tip myself.
  23. In life, when someone offers you a courtesy, you show your appreciation, make eye contact, smile, and ask no questions.
  24. We don't talk about this much here at CC but this is it for me too. The ocean is why I cruise. I walk the ship and see what's going on, but my favorite activity is watching the sea. I've never once sat in one of those coveted loungers by the pool. At Coco Cay, if I'm not in the water I'm in the shade, but I just find it all very relaxing.
