  1. Ok...I think I see it when you go to check out. Is it $35 per person or $35 total?
  2. I don't see that about the prices for transportation. I just see the price for day passes and all inclusive day pass.
  3. For those of you who have done Tabyana Beach and Jolly Roger - which do you rec? In looking at a map, it appears "Tabyana Beach" is just the beach by the Paradise Beach Hotel, Mayan Princess, etc. Should I do the Carnival excursion or the $39 package at Paradise Beach Hotel (that including transportation) and doing the day pass at Paradise beach Hotel that way I can also use their nice facilities and pool rather and can come/go as I please? Or is the area such that I should use Carnival excursions??? I also notice that it appears Half Moon Bay is just north of this so I suspect the snorkeling is similar.
  4. I don't think you will have a hard time doing it boarding day or the first sea day. I have done a lot of laundry aboard Carnival ships. Only time I had a problem was on recent Europe cruise when the ship was newly out of dry dock and laundry facilities weren't working the first 2-3 days (and lots of people with lost luggage as well) resulted in lots of people trying to do laundry.
  5. I am going to report the post myself and ask it to be taken down because I am tired of getting alerts from people incapable of scrolling past a post they don't like. It's July 4th weekend! Have fun everyone!
  6. Similar name, but different place. 🙂 I am talking about a place we went to in Roatan where there is good reef snorkeling: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g303875-d8027628-Reviews-Half_Moon_Bay-West_End_Roatan_Bay_Islands.html The negative is that it was a pretty good cab ride (and slightly scary cab ride) from the NCL dock. (This may have changed in 15 years.) I don't think it would be worth it unless I knew the snorkeling was as good now as it was back then.
  7. As an aside, I posted this half-way tongue-in-cheek but also because I did think it made some good points...especially the one about using trash as a signaling method. My family and I occasionally do off-shore fishing and a boat capsizing or other issues while not common also isn't unheard of. My grandfather was a professional fisherman/shrimper in the gulf...even built his own boat in his back yard. So, I was honestly just trying to be helpful in the 0.00000000001 percent chance someone ever found themselves floating in the gulf or any other body of water. I know that I have also heard of divers left by excursion crews before...although, again, this is rare. I didn't expect so many people to get so worked up over a post. .
  8. Ok...so snorkeling at MB doesn't sound like it is that great. Anyone been (recently) to Half Moon Bay to snorkel? We went 15 years ago on an NCL cruise (took a cab) and it was amazing snorkeling...BUT that was 15 years ago.
  9. I sail Carnival primarily because it is kid friendly without being the price of chartering a yacht (ahem, Disney). I do think the atmosphere is fun, though. Comedy club, deck parties, etc.
  10. Some of you get way too worked up over really silly things...
  11. You know, if you see a post you disagree with or think is pointless, you can just keep scrolling...
  12. It is pretty random when they post schedules and it varies from port-to-port and even year-to-year. With that said, from NOLA, I would only book a 7 or more day cruise because on the shorter cruises you really get a pretty party/rowdy crowd.
  13. Hubs doesn't drink much so I would have to drink for two so I am probably better off just setting aside $400 for my drinks.
  14. @hapytobehr and @sunonfire Thank you for your responses! Do yall know if the snorkeling from that beach is any good? I read one review on the "Jolly Roger" catamaran tour that said the snorkeling from the "free beach" near the port was better than the snorkeling on that excursion so it made me assume there was at least SOME snorkeling. But I wasn't sure if there was a reef out the reviewer was being sarcastic.
  15. You definitely need to call because I do recall someone complaining on this board at one point for "upgrading" and loosing their OBC. I don't think this is what normally happens, but I think it can.
  16. Mods - Please don't move this to the Roatan board. This *IS* a Carnival related question because Carnival owns the port and only Carnival cruise ships dock there. What I am wondering is if there is enough to do in the port area and via the magic chair lift to the Mahogany Bay Beach that we can just stay in the area and not bother getting a cab to another area (like West Bay beach or Half Moon Bay). I am mainly wanting to just snorkel from the beach and have a few drinks. Is the shore snorkeling from Mahogany Bay beach any good? If we stay in the area, I may also try to zip line in the area. On the Roatan board, it seems like most of the people on there recommending going to West Bay beach and doing a resort day pass are coming in on NCL, RCL, etc. and that port is not as nice. Thus, I am wondering if there is any reason to even pay the money to do this if coming in on Carnival at the better port where everything is sort of an extension of the ship.
  17. Can you snorkel form the shore at the beach near the ship port? Is it any good? What is there to do in the area if you simply don't leave the port area?
  18. If you don't mind my asking, how much does the transportation from the resort cost?
  19. I would like to know the answer to this, too. Was amazing 15 years ago.
  20. Thank you to everyone who posted a response on this thread. I was really torn on whether to book one of these two exact tours because of the long bus ride, but this thread made me do it! Can't wait!
  21. 4 at the aft in the middle of the ship with the doors opening towards the aft balcony rooms.
  22. A bad dancer contest. Informational sessions that give the history/interesting facts about each port of call on sea days--beyond them just trying to sell excursions. A crazy hat contest.
  23. And bring back the hairy chest contest. Or do a bikini contest for men.
