  1. Thanks Laurie.  I should have looked at the email from the TA, as it is on there!  Just no mention on the booking confirmation.  I'm a little worried about these two cruises as no one seems to be booking.  I guess they're a long ways away Dec 9, 2023 to Jan 4, 2024.  Come join us!

  2. We have 2 cruises booked which are included in this promotion even thought they are not in Europe.  They were booked in Nov and I did not know about this promotion.  Is it new?  Are we out of luck?  We did get $300 OBC for each cruise.  They are Singapore to Fremantle B2B with Fremantle to Melbourne.

  3. Please people, we are trying to make Loracpin feel less depressed about missing the cruise.  Let's not turn this into another ugly thread.

Loracpin, I totally sympathize with you, but you are safe at home, you will not be missing ports and worrying about the person coughing as they go down the hall.  Do you have a future cruise to look forward to?

DH and I got tested the other day and my money was on a positive test.  Well we were both negative.  DH has all the symptoms and a Dr friend told us there is a 15% false rate in the tests so we stay home now as if we were positive.  And yes, it is depressing.  We are sitting on the fence with regard to cancelling our April cruise.

And yes, we are tripled vaxxed.

When is this going to be over so we can get back to normal life?

Take care and keep yourself safe.

  4. We bought at $40 years ago and have paid for that with OBC's over the years.  However, I wish I had sold it when it was $135 beg of 2020 I think.  When RCL announced they were suspending all sailings mid March 2020, I believe it tanked at $19.25.  Wish I had bought more then!  Isn't hindsight amazing?

  5. HUGE KUDOS to you OP for being so honest and reporting your symptoms immediately.  You could have taken some cough lozenges and continued to enjoy the ship infecting everyone and his dog, since you were not feeling that sick.

What a bummer having booked a suite but at least you can enjoy the food from Luminae in your isolation.  i wonder if you could sample Blu as well.

I hope your wife escapes although her enjoyment of the lovely suite will be tempered without her best friend.

I feel so sorry for both of you and I hope that you will have better protection going forward, by having the virus and then when you get the booster.

  6. We haven't sailed RCCL, but we sail Celebrity (same group) and on board currency is USD.  I understand your problem.  We keep a USD Visa and Amex for travel outside Canada.  You could get some US cash before you leave and use that for tips.  If you have booked your cruise through a TA and they give you OBC, I believe you can ask for it in cash the last day of the cruise and use that for the gratuities.

Welcome to Cruise Critic....a great site!

    Enjoy your cruise.

  7. This is inexcusable, dollyd.  Aren't you lucky to have Parkerson on board!  You shouldn't have to rely on another passenger to help you out.  Please get help for your UTI immediately.  In the meantime, drink lots of water.  You probably know this.

I'm not being nosy, but I see Orlando as a residence.  i hope you are able to go there after you disembark instead of all the way to Nove Scotia and having to deal with border people.  All the best to you both.

We went back and forth on whether to sail on the 11 day cruise to the ABC Islands tomorrow. When they canceled Key West I almost canceled but didn't. We originally booked an Aqua cabin which would've been new for us. Then I was able to snag a corner aft which we've never had either so we gave up the Aqua cabin for the bigger room and huge balcony. Then came Omicron and canceled flights everywhere. At the end of the day we decided to risk it all and here we are in Tampa. Flights were not canceled,  covid tests were negative and who knows what the future holds? We are 65 and 70, in good health for our ages, and we don't want to live in fear until we die. I think there will be more variants, likely more serious  than Omicron, so we're cruising now, while we still can. If we sail the Caribbean for 11 days without getting off the ship, it still beats sitting in the house in Missouri in the cold winter. To each their own.

Enjoy your corner balcony which will be beautiful even if you never leave the ship.
