  1. Cruzer0007, if you can handle your own luggage, I would advise you to do the self disembarkation where you can leave the ship as soon as it is cleared.  We have been at airports before 8AM by doing this.  You may have to pack for the cruise with this in mind though, and that means your wife won't be able to pack those 15 pairs of shoes!😂

  2. They have now gotten some sense about requesting a PCR test for returning Canadians on the land border who are in the US less than 72 hours.  Thank goodness.  This is wonderful news for day trippers.

I can't get my mind off the terrible disasters we have in BC with that torrential rain we had last Sun/Mon.  Heard today it is the worst disaster Canada has ever seen.  I could cry thinking of all the animals drowning in the fields and all the chickens in the flooded barns.  I feel terrible for all those farmers.  I don't think at the present time you can drive from Vancouver to the rest of Canada as many of the roads are flooded and broken up and they are still looking for missing people who were victims of a terrible slide.  Others were trapped in their cars for nearly 20 hours between two slides.  They had to be rescued by helicopters.

  3. We have also sailed about 6 TA's and the only really rough one was a northerly route.  They had to tie down the furniture on the balconies and we were asked not to go out there.  The southerly routes are generally more gentle.

I think, Jim, we are talking about the same cruise.  Was it Silhouette, Nov 2018

Which cruise are you looking at cruzer 0007?

  4. Lovely to see some of you getting ready to cruise again.  At the moment we do not have anything scheduled till July but sometimes I think I'm not going to last that long.  We are seriously looking at the new sailing from Vancouver to Hawaii in April.  And hey if we book it we get 50 PUP!!

I just got my booster on Tuesday and honestly I had a sorer arm with the flu shot.  I guess I'm a tough old bag!  DH was quite sick for about 5 days with his booster shot.  i hope you have a better time with the third one On the Journey.

We have a huge stack of packages to pick up at a friend’s house in Detroit, so hopefully the tests will be eliminated completely for short stay land crossings.  The US doesn’t need one, so it would mean we can just pop over for a few hours like we used to in the Before Times.

Same with us for our PO box. We are hoping they won't soak us with duty for all the items we have received in 20 months.

you have to look up your CC number in a separate browser window or elsewhere.  If you do a typo, they'll tell you it's the wrong CC number, so obviously they know what the right number is.  Why not just automatically pre-populate that field like most other cruise lines do?

Simple solution.....memorize the number then you never have to look it up anywhere.

I agree with your annoyance on the telephone.  Service has gone out the window everywhere.

  7. Definitely the Silhouette and make sure you try the Lawn Club Grill (you can usually get a discount the first night).  I hope you have an absolutely fabulous cruise and that you have to pry them off the ship at the end of the sailing!

thus not worth eating, in my humble New England opinion

Well you see, if all you've ever had is skim milk you don't know what cream is like!  We do enjoy the lobster on Celebrity.

We were on Summit 2 years ago and anxiously anticipating the Lobster in Bar Harbour but alas, we had to skip the port due to weather.

  9. My apologies, Norris, about the missing passenger.  It was a duh moment because of the ageing brain!  Now, there was an opportunity for you to create a story!!  I had been reading the Equinox thread just prior to coming to the Azamara one, where the poster had said the ship had already waited 3 hours for a passenger who did not return.  They actually sailed 5.5 hours late and Captain said passenger did not return.  I am following this sailing because we have neighbours on it.  Seems there are a few stories about what happened, some of them very different.

A million thanks for the pictures of #7116.  It looks like a lovely cabin.  Too bad we didn't get it for the Norway Intensive.

I am so sorry you got poor weather in Nice.  I guess I'll find out tomorrow if you got to St Paul de Vence, a delightful little place.

Love all the French.  As you probably know we are a bilingual country and we have to have French and English on everything (except for Quebec).  We have arrête/stop on all our stop signs but we laughed when we were in Quebec as there is only arrête....no stop!

  10. Norris, you make me laugh and you make me cry!  I feel like crying when I hear that little bit of Irish lilt in your accent.  It's been too long since we've been to Ireland.  The laugh.........there's no way you're getting ahead of me in the dumpster to get the lava cakes!!  My fav dessert in Blu on Celebrity and hopefully even better on Quest when we sail in July.

Did you ever find out why the Captain waited for the late passenger?

  11. Really looking forward to your review of San Gimignano.  We thought that was one of the most delightful little places we ever visited.  We enjoyed a lovely lunch there on a patio. Toward the end of our lunch I saw a couple coming out with their food and looking around for a table.  The place was packed, not a table to be had.  I beckoned to him and when they came over, we told them we were just finishing and they were welcome to our table.  He was so effusive in his thanks you'd think I had given them a pot of gold!  It made our day.

Try the breakfast...and you decide. I always stay on Aqua  and I find it not worth getting up for. Dinner is great though.

We got cold Eggs Benedict in Blu.  When we asked for the manager, they sent us the hostess.  We do enjoy dinner there.
