How recent was the cruise where most men were in tux? What was the itinerary? And yes, cruisers from the UK definitely dress up more formally. Obviously a cultural difference, as some other UK practices I encountered during a roadtrip from Southampton to the Lakes district in England.

Sorry, I can't remember exactly but my guess would be Equinox Mediterranean 2011.  Yes, a long time ago and things certainly have changed.

  2. We mostly book AQ class and I think generally people spruce up a bit for dinner.  One cruise in particular, where I wish I had taken a picture of the diners in Blu, DH was the only man I could see in the dining room not in a tux!  He was wearing a suit.  I often notice that British people like to dress up for dinner and they look great.

I would agree that Alaska cruises are more casual.

  3. Yes, I have celebrated more than one.  One year as I was leaving our cabin in the morning, our steward asked me how I was.  i told her that I was feeling old since I was going to have my birthday on Sat.  Never thought another things of it.  When we came back to our room on Sat after breakfast, our cabin was totally decorated!  Streamers everywhere, a huge banner saying Happy Birthday and decorated with balloons.  A lovely bouquet was on the table.  What a surprise!  She was one of the best stewards we have ever had.

I don’t think you should wait that long. Tell you what, if you book Equinox for 10 December, I’ll hand you one when you board😜 My DH says I’m a bad influence, but he intends to get one too 😂

That Affogato  looks awesome too.  I'd love to join you having either one.  Looking at the new scheduled Vancouver to Hawaii Apr 23 to make up for all their cancelled Australian itinerary.  We've never had a sailing to Hawaii from Vancouver in April and probably never will again. Some are making a B2B out of this, pairing it with the usual one May 4, Honolulu to Vancouver.

Oh please, am I going to have to book a cruise early in 2022 to have this?  i don't think I can wait till October!  And i don't mean this year!  This is my idea of dessert.

  6. Didn't work for me either.  I've written them twice to get the points added but I'm afraid I'm wasting my time.  DH asks why I bother as we're never going to reach Zenith anyway.  It's just the principle of the thing.  When you're promised something you shouldn't have to bow and scrape.

  7. We have cruised from Southampton many times and we always use National Express to get from London to Southampton.  We usually spend the first night in London and we take the bus from Victoria Station to the depot in Southampton.  The driver loads the luggage and there is only one stop.  I don't know if they still offer the £5/pp fares as it is a while since we have sailed from Southampton.  We will be doing a TA next year, so we will find out.  They also go from Heathrow but it is a bit more.
