  1. Ah Norris, you have to get back to Ireland to tone up your accent!  We haven't been there since 2010.  I lived in Enniskillen for my first 9 years and then in Dublin till we emigrated to Vancouver.

I have to say I would have been with Carol in my choice of Singapore noodles with shrimp.  Actually all the food you photographed looked amazing.

Loved your description of what to do with a ringing cell phone!  We have that in common too.  It is a war in my family that I refuse to get a cell phone.  Hate the way people get so involved in them that they are oblivious to everyone around them, blocking aisles in the store, bumping into you etc.

    Bring on Tuscany!

TeaBag I will  put some pics up soon of 7116. I haven't seen them since I took them which is true of all the pics- I look at them before I post them. There's over 1,000 so some are real surprises. Carol sees them for the first time on CC.

I would say no to looking at the wake over the partition unless the ship is going fast and the wake trails back a long way. If it's the case I recommend standing with a strawberry daiquiri at the railing.

Suez in 7016? Is that using a Jewish calendar? Oh, not the year but the cabin 7116. Oops!

Norway Intensive with Az? We did just the Fjords with Celebrity (see my signature) and that was mind blowing. Azamara will absolutely increase the pleasure  by a big margin!

Love your Irish sense of humor, Norris.  Sorry I meant 7116 not 7016.  We had thought you wouldn't be able to see the full wake sitting down.  So yes, lovely recommendation standing at the railing with the strawberry daiquiri and what in the other hand?

We were booked on Silhouette for the Norway Fjords and Iceland/Ireland B2B and Celebrity cancelled them both.  Bah.  The Norway one included Gerainger and Flam, neither of which are on the Azamara itinerary.

  3. As I said in post # 48, I would love to meet you Norris, some day.  We are both Irish.  I couldn't believe it when I read this AM that you are in cabin (er stateroom) 7116.  We have booked that cabin for 3 of our 4 cruises.   It was already gone for the Norway Intensive July 25 which will be our first Azamara sailing. I can't wait to sail in the Suez in 7016.

I really look forward to anything you can tell us about the cabin.  Can you still see the wake sitting down on the balcony or is it obscured by the solid railing?  TIA

  4. Norris, I'm thrilled to see you back.  You are Irish aren't you, as am I.  I would love to meet you on a ship some time.

We have done the same thing as you....switched to Azamara but our first cruise, also on Quest is a while away.  July 25 Norway intensive which starts in Dublin, the city I lived in as a child.

I really look forward to your impressions of Quest.  We are also sailing on her on the Spice Route May 2023.  Two more booked, as well, on Journey.

What an absolutely horrible time you had getting to Rome and then finding your luggage didn't make it. I HATE cancellations and delays as they just become worse by the hour.

I bet when you stepped onto Quest, you gave a loud thank you or was it grazie?

Looking forward to the rest of your review.

  5. We are looking at this cruise also.  It is very much cheaper than the return to Vancouver on May 4, 2022.  There is always lots to do on sea days.  In fact sometimes there are two things offered at the same time and I want to go to both of them.  We have done this cruise or the reverse about 4 or 5 times.  It can be a bit cold for the first few days out from Vancouver, so I would pack something warm to wear on deck.  Enjoy.

Have you sailed Azamara before, TB?

No, I haven't, but everything I read is positive.  I just can't wait to sail in the Suez in one of those aft cabins.  Unfortunately they moved that cruise to 2023 but we still have the Norwegian Fjords to look forward to next year.

so you're saying the waiter was mistaken when he said no when i asked if tip was included in the meal?

(i asked after he presented me with the check.)

No the waiter was not mistaken.  Do you think if he had said "yes" you would have left a tip?  Savvy waiter.  That being said, we are aware the tip is built in but we still leave something for a great meal and an excellent waiter.

I'm recently off the Quest.  They had several very new looking Speed Queen washing machines, with the dryers stacked on top.  Detergent capsules were provided in a plastic bin.  There's also an iron and board there but I draw the line at ironing on vacation 🙂

Thank you for the info.  I will do some washing the last day of the cruise.  I like to arrive home with clean clothes and also, it will help to transition me to fending for myself when I get home!

I'm on hold with Choice Air right now.  My call was initially answered by a live person who asked if I wanted a call back, or continue to hold.  I was able to ask about the website and was told that "IT is working on it and hopefully it'll be up soon". I guess that's good news😕.   I'll let you know if I learn anything else.

Thank you, Sharon.  We need to start looking at airfare for our July 25 cruise.  I'm another person who likes to use the Internet for comparison.

We were on her in September in Luminae. Enjoyed the Luminae menu but my wife mainly choose off the MDR menu and was satisfied. Murano was great but thought we wasted our money in Tuscan grill.  We are not foodies but usually dine out well and my wife knows how to cook. I am sure you will enjoy.

Too bad you didn't try the Lawn Club Grill.  We think it is the best restaurant afloat and that includes Murano on three different ships.  Of course things may have changed with COVID but we intend to eat there again when we next sail on Silhouette in 2022.
