  1. A word of warning, check how many ships in port, we arrived back and 5 big ships disembarking that day. There was a big wait for taxi, even though ours as pre booked via hotel. Don't cut it fine if multiple ships.
  2. Just read this. One thing, yuk, stood out. Tape worm treatment had to be administered by a vetinerian 1 to 5 days before dog can be let into UK. How does thus fit into a 7 night Transatlantic.
  3. Shorts and Tee shirt at breakfast or lunch are completely acceptable within the Saga dress code. However they are not acceptable at dinner or anywhere in the evening, and that should not be relaxed. I think the current Saga dress code is well balanced. With Smart attire most nights, coupled with occasional formal attire. I think Saga passengers support this level of dress and like the occasional formal night. They would not like to see Tee shirts , jeans or shorts at dinner. They like it that people make an effort to be smart at dinner.
  4. Yes but that would be legally classified as assistance dog. The owner will have sorted this out to ensure it is allowed everywhere with them on land. So seeing any dog on board, one would know it is a legal assistance dog.
  5. I love dogs , however When I go to hotels I will not go in rooms that take dogs, and if every room takes dogs look for another hotel. My view is Cunard should accept legally recognised assistance dogs e.g for the blind, not just because it's a legal duty but a moral duty. Even if it's means extra time taken at changeover. I don"t think a dog you wheel about in a pushchair passes the threshold
  6. No problem at breakfast or lunch
  7. Agree fully. Also even if they ring the night before , you can't assume the car/van be changed for a bigger one at such short notice. If you've given them plenty of notice it's their problem to fix , tell them night before it's your problem.
  8. It says they get priority embarkation, but after Liguirian and full suites. Don't know before or after Baltic. Aurora attracts many high level Peninsula club members , so it looks like mini suites are ahead of Carribean.
  9. Is this a consequence of , Liguirian, Baltic, or a Suite or just random
  10. Is this a maximum of 5 cases per cabin, ie 10 per car/van . Or 5 cases per car/van We've told them we are taking 5 cases for a months cruise. I didn't think there was any limit as long as you gave notice of more than standard 2 cases.
  11. Has this happened to anyone here, what was the response from Saga
  12. But surely they must put on enough for everyone who wants one, its like not having enough food.
  13. Selbourne, although I agree that logically if there was only one way of booking then it should be easier to manage. To make app compulsory they would have to hand out free smart phones and two week lessons to those without smart phone. Pre covid , pre app, the just turn up method, seemed to work well. Perhaps a step back to go forward. PS your blog has been very informative.
  14. As Saga prices by deck not position (mid, forward , aft etc ) unless you want to splash out on rear suite, go as near middle as you can. Same price
  15. I do not understand the higher the deck the later you are, as they charge a premium for higher decks. Logically other way round.
  16. PRICE and ENTERTAINMENT Just finished a 2 week Mediterranean cruise Cunard QG £14k , at this price prefer smaller ships, Saga , Silversea..... Next June 2024 2 weeks Mediterranean in aft suite on Arvia £6k, add in speciality restaurants every night , it's still half price. If we can get in to restaurants and embarkation not a nightmare then as we loved P&O pre Covid evening entertainment. Should be a really good cruise. If it goes wrong , can't get into restaurants or food sub par, cant get into shows and embarkation is a nightmare , then goodbye P&O
  17. Firstly I can't believe they'd issue to different times to people in same cabin. I think it's hard to reissue boarding passes. However I'd email them and get it in writing that you can both board together
  18. First come basis would really annoy the multitude of high tier peninsula club members. P&O would have to stop offering priority to suite passengers. As as you say anyone arriving early would still do so in the knowledge they would have to wait , is exactly what everyone is complaining about now .
  19. Everybody knows the state of play now , - turn up excessively early you will have to queue. - turn up on time and you should go straight through. This seems better than turn up when you want but expect to queue.
  20. What happens when 6000 people turn up at opening time whatever that is. Chaos.
  21. Yes if everything always goes perfectly, no hiccups.. But if there are queues that even airports can't guarantee against, cruise terminals are too small to invite everyone to sit in our nice but small. terminal. So if there is a hiccup and it's full of early birds, no one else can get in even if on time.
  22. Yes but Airports have far more internal space per passenger, 4 times as much or more. What we clearly need is far bigger terminals, but until they are built there isn't room for people to wait in side.
  23. See this review of multiple options https://www.cruisemummy.co.uk/southampton-cruise-parking/
