  1. I think Cunard are missing a trick. I think there is demand for more gala nights , but it will vary by cruise and time of year. Given most people will sign onto their account. They could simply ask do you want an extra gala night or more. If yes then let's have more official gala nights. Of course I could be wrong.
  2. When you say sold out , did they have to pay for them or just book via app
  3. We are staying night before in new forest hotel , so may be difficult to make last minute taxi change
  4. I was puzzled about 12.45 arrival time, as everyone on this board in QG seems to have been given 12. 30 as an arrival time. I don't know what we've done to annoy Cunard , however shall take everyone's advice and turn up at 12.00.
  5. I'm talking about a change to general dress code, if jeans were allowed , even if it ssid smart dress jeans, it would open flood gates to any jeans , as who can define what is smart. No ripped jeans , still allows any old jeans
  6. Been lucky and never had to wait except in security queue once. Are there any facilities in holding area , presumably toilets , what about tea/coffee
  7. If jeans were allowed, it would not be smart dress jeans one would see, the ship would soon look like an audition for Gardeners world. Might as well just abandon dress code.
  8. I'm sure with what Jeremy Clarkson earned in Top gear he didnt get his jeans at primark or Matalan . I agree if people knew there limitations and understood what casually smart means Cunard wouldn't need a dress code. However given the number of men who dress like students from 60s or 70s, I'm not sure this approach would work.
  9. Check in time 12.45, QM2 Mediterranean
  10. Perhaps that is another approach to dress code, wear what you like as long as it's Armani, Gucci ... But seriously if you put those jeans even with the Gucci belt on Jeremy Clarkson it would still look like a sack of spuds. Given that young Jeremy is more representative of the average Cunard male passenger I can see why jeans are not considered smart attire.🙁
  11. Yes in answer to you question that's about all on normal , can pick up emails and slow browsing . The premium offering is better than that, with luck a WhatsApp call. It depends also on time of day . I had to book something that became available at midnight UTC, 1 am on ship, worked like dream must have been only person on it
  12. The only men who look smart in jeans are 6ft , with a 32 inch waist, men who would look smart in anything
  13. Speaking for men only. Smart jeans , not for the over 25s. Look at who wears them, Jeremy Clarkson, Tony Blair .
  14. Looking at cost of a private transfer, it looks to me that they charge you the full cost not half cost. My assumption is that Saga logic is , if you ask for a private transfer, then instead of two couples sharing, they may well end up with two couples on their own. That is an extra car, so you pay full cost not half.
  15. Too many Margaritas , leads to to many Wives. My wife asked me why I had one eye closed all the time. I said if I open both there was two of her. She rationed my intake after then
  16. This is getting boring Anyway we are conflating two separate questions Question 1 , Why cruise with P&O when there are better cruise lines Question 2. Do land based holidays offer better value.
  17. Keeping to arrival times is necessary especially for the big ships. Perhaps next time the coach driver will have another comfort break an hour out of Southampton and arrive on time, he should know better. If nothing goes wrong and every one arrives no more than 15 mins early, with perhaps exception the last hour, things would go smoothly. Perhaps they are hoping that the message don't come too early will slowly sink in.
  18. I am confused, every night you have option of wearing a DJ , evening dress. So what is an optional gala night. Personally I like the fact that everyone dresses up. 50% dressed up ,50% casual seems odd.
  19. The carnival accountants will most likely want to prioritise saver fares as they represent extra revenue
  20. I live 225 miles away ie 150 miles over free 75, so will I pay A : 150×£2.50 per leg so £750 total , or B: just 150×£2.5 ie £375 for the return journey. If it's A then I can arrange to use the same car hire company Saga normally use for just the two of us for the same amount. Has anyone ever asked if you get a reduction if you don't want Saga to organise your travel
  21. Hate to disagree with Host Hattie, there are a similiary "Cunarders" who would take umbrage at any sugestion that P&O was better than Cunard at anything. However your review / comparison of the two would be of interest to many on both boards. So don't let anything put you off posting it.
  22. If there are not enough buses, should they give priority to those that have paid up front, ie select or in worst case restrict to select. A controversial idea.
  23. So if you have priority, be careful not to be sent to back of even the fast queue, go straight in.
  24. Two questions Firstly general question , for the big ships may have to process 6000 people in 5 hours, 1200 an hour , 20 people a minute. There seem to be enough check in desks, but what about security, would need at least 5 machines , at 15 seconds a person , more like 10 machines if it takes 30 seconds a person, do they have that many? Secondly Priority Embarkation, who and how many get priority. Are priority boarders put into queue or is there a third queue. Theoretically suites and Liguirian went first does this still happen
  25. Thanks, it seems to me From What is said above they want a flow through the terminal rather than people sitting round waiting to be called. Which makes sense
