Honored and humbled that my original Tiki cocktail got chosen to be judged for Spikes Breezeway Cocktail Hour using Spikes own rum with collaboration with Ed Hamilton Rums. I knew I wouldn't win the round but happy I got to participate. I competed with others who are very experienced mixologists so I learned a lot. In the end I should have used 1 dash of Angostura Bitters instead of two. Here is my recipe for the "Sea Dog Breeze." * 2 oz Spike's Breezeway Rum Blend * 1 oz pineapple juice * 1 oz orange juice * 1/2 oz lime juice * 1/2 oz blue curaçao liqueur * 1/2 oz Orgeat syrup * 1 dashes Angostura bitters * Pineapple wedge and maraschino cherry (for garnish) Shake with pebble ice and pour into Mai Tai glass Cheers! Here is an edited version of just my cocktail as the whole show is almost an hour and a half. A couple of pretty funny moments when I get accused of trying to bribe Matt with a super chat even though I wasn’t just trying to say thanks for including me and then when Matt first tastes my cocktail his sip goes down the wrong pipe. Scared me at first. If interested here is the whole thing

Royal Caribbean Cocktail Recipes

Excited to try that one. I like the fact that there are other tiki cocktails that are not rum based. -
I guess I do have my strengths. My father was an architect and great at math and science which his genes went to my brother who is a doctor. My mom was an art major who painted and did jewelry silversmithing. She also was an accomplished classical guitarist. I got her genes. I don’t regret that but I could have made a lot more money as a doctor than a artist.😜

There is a very well known tiki bartender who has written several books about the science behind cocktails. He uses Malic acid powder to adjust the acidity of the citrus juices in cocktails. He also has written about clarifying cocktails by using milk to remove impurities and clear up a cocktails color. Fascinating stuff and does involve chemistry. I am not at that level unfortunately.

The last store pick of Russell's 10 year had a line all around the building. By the time I got to the front they were sold out. Luckily I know the owner really well and he asked me if I wanted a bottle. I said yes and he went to the back room and came back with a bottle in a brown paper bag and told the cashier how much to ring it up for. Pays to know someone .

I love Josh Allen. I root for the Bills anytime they are not playing KC! If I did a shot every time the Bills score a TD I would be an alcoholic.😁 Tried to comment below but it won’t let me. I have cut back from the hunt. It was fun for a while but too much work. I have gotten into finished bourbons like Rabbit Hole’s Derringer which is finished in a sherry cask.
