We have stayed at the YVE (just this past May) and although it was definately not 5 star (or 4) it was fine for an overnight pre cruise. The rooms were clean and the staff was great. Short ride to the port in the morning. The hotel prices in that area are pricey. We stayed at the Holiday Inn a few years ago and would definately take the YVE or it.

Your review is so informative....perfect for those that will be taking this cruise for the first time. So much to see and do on Ohau. I always recommend people stay a few days pre and or post cruise. You are making me consider another Hawaiian cruise/vacation 🙂 One of my favorite TV shows growing up was Hawaii 5-0 and when I was there I recognized so many things from the show.

That sounds like a plan. The only time I have done that was for our Med cruises but I may just start doing it your way for all cruises.

I guess I will just be prepared with and overnight bag. Personally I would like to pick up all of my luggage in Dallas so that I can make sure sure it gets on my flight from DFW - I would hate to arrive in Alaska and my luggage is still sitting in a "holding" area at DFW.

Looking forward to more...My very 1st cruise was on the Pride of America back in 2006. I loved it so much I did it again in 2007, 2008 and 2012! Hawaii is one of my favorite places.

OK then I will just take a small carry on for overnight. I usually just check everything but my "big" purse with what I will need. Thank you.

Thank you....I will ask them to check bags to DFW when I check in with Waco and then re check in Dallas. That way I will have my luggage and not wonder if it made it onto our flight to ANC

American Airlines. We have an eagle flight from Waco Regional arriving at DFW 7:40 pm on a Tuesday. Our next flight will be DFW to ANC departing at 12:20 pm Wed then ANC to FAI on Alaska airlines. It is all booked on one ticket. We booked this way because the flight times out of Waco.

Not sure where I should ask this question but thought I would give it a try here. We will have an overnight layover in Dallas. We booked ourselves and fly out of our regional airport here in Texas to DFW in the evening and our flight to Alaska is the next morning. I am wondering if they check our bags straight through to Fairbanks or if we will need to pick them up in Dallas and re-check the next day. I need to figure how to pack and whether I need to take a small carry-on for the overnight hotel stay.

Reading your review and looking at pictures and videos is really making me look forward to our cruise next year. Eagles are something my DH really wants to see....hope we have that many on our cruise

I have many in my family and my husbands family that I would not cruise with period. If the OP is already worried about the togetherness then I feel sorry for them. Nothing would ruin a relaxing cruise more then walking on eggshells the whole time and trying to keep things and people happy.

As someone that has recently lost my mother I for one would either get my own suite and share with my mother or make sis get her own and have mom stay with my husband and I. Life is too short to not let everyone enjoy the cruise and the thought of mom having to sneak into the Haven or being excluded from the experience is sad. If financially you cant swing two haven suites why not just get a few balcony cabins so everyone can enjoy the cruise....Just my thoughts and opinion.

For me it is the excitement of taking one more step toward my cruise

I prefer Coke with my Crown but have been cruising for 16 years and Pepsi works just as well.

Was Susan able to select her zip line time? If so maybe we can book the zip line before or after an ATV excursion. We will be on the Jewel in August Southbound after taking a land tour.

Definately on my bucket list....looking forward to hearing more.

I have really enjoyed reading this review. After reading all of this we just booked Alaska for the end of August 2023. We decided to book the land tour pre-cruise also. Thank you for sharing and helping us get off the fence and book!
