  1. I don't see HAL (or anyone else) doing 21 day Capetown to Barcelona next March/April - more than twice as long and less than $20,000. Here's the closest from VTG (if I can say that here): FastDeal # 15884 21 nights departing November 16, 2024 Norwegian ❘ Norwegian Sky Brochure Inside$10,152 Our Inside$1,062 You Save90% Brochure Oceanview$14,392 Our Oceanview$1,444 You Save90% Brochure Balcony$37,592 Our Balcony$3,824 You Save90% Brochure Suite$97,992 Our Suite$9,902 Click for additional rates: Free at Sea, Singles Important Note: Visas are required for this itinerary.
  2. OMG - we did this! "Do we even know for sure that this was an actual tour company? Or was it just a guy on the dock with a van that holds eight and asking everyone who walked by if they wanted a "Private Island Tour" until he filled his seats? I could easily see that scenario happening." Thank you BLACKWING! Many years and cruises ago, our group of eight intelligent and professional adults sailed into one of the islands (St. Lucia, I think) and none of the ship tours had inspired us. "Guy on the dock" saw us and a deal was made -- he signaled his associate to go rent an air-conditioned van and meet our group "over there" - OK, next step we were getting into a small boat and crossing some water to the parking lot - Pretty sure the other passengers did not get to tour bus location that way, but who knows? Soon the driver and guide had us loaded and off we went - was a total blast and all worked out. We were ahead of the big tours and saw so many of the off beat things on the island including all the ladies who knew our tour operators. Fun memory of another adventure with our traveling crowd - we always seem to find a spot for ice cream along the way. Back in plenty of time and lots of stories. BLACKWING - you made me laugh out loud and smile! Thanks.
  3. The independent eight returned to the ship and the lady from the ship excursion is hospitalized at home - Bless Their Hearts.
  4. Wait a minute - per the info ASHLYNKAT just shared, San Tome as 3/27 and Ivory Coast 3/29 and then Gambia on 4/01 and Senegal 4/02 - was there an attempt to get to Ivory Coast?
  5. That is true - and amazing what I can do in case of emergency. Appreciate everyone's responses - been a while since I tendered (now called water taxis...). And I do remember all crew members helping the transfer. I know my limitations, especially when I am traveling solo as an 80+ year old woman. Cruise on!
  6. Interesting story - now, don't hate me - but, is a paraplegic allowed on a tender? I've had to get realistic about my touring as time has gone by. Just saying.
  7. I had Lynchburg Lemonade back in 1995 when touring Jack Daniels - but, it didn't come with any JD in it, unfortunately - Dang!
  8. OMG - what a wonderful read this was - sorry I am so late, have just started to look at Windstar. Did a 14 day Med on Celebrity years ago which stopped at Mykonos and Santorini - fantastic experience at both - I rode the donkey up (don't judge me!) and met my friends at the top. Love Shirley Valentine too! Did Ephesus on a Gate One Turkey tour and it was fabulous - truly a magical feeling. So your pictures and stories brought it all back - incredible -- enough about me - glad you and Adam shared this adventure and hope you keep on cruising - thank you so much.
  9. Thanks - my trip is quite a while away - but your report was great.
  10. Oh, dang - "cooties" are no fun, especially when traveling - keep your chin up and try not to sneeze.
  11. Eek! OK, plain old type. I honestly did not know - I'm still here and following.
  12. I'll be better - sorry about that - just like to talk about cruises like we all do. Yep, on a PC sitting here at home. 😎
  13. I'm here, too - did Alaska a hundred years ago on NCL with a group - we loved it and did a bunch of the things you have planned. Agree, you should see the Earthquake Park in Anchorage (that was an earlier trip on Carnival where we bussed up to Denali for a few days and took the train back) - the Museum has a wonderful exhibit and is small and easy to tour. Sled Dogs/Musher Camp was really fun and interesting, rode the sled and held/petted the pups. You will Love when the dogs are getting picked for the Team - Me! Me! Me! I've seen pictures of what you order for meals and I'm impressed - think you'll be happy. O'Sheehans has a great Reuben and is open 24 hours a day. Also had "Nightly Specials" like BB Ribs sometimes. La Cucina had Affogato on the Dessert Menu on my TA, all of the alternative dining was good - even great Grilled Hot Dogs in Garden Cafe. Hot Chocolate and Hot Spiked Drinks - perfect. Jewel is a good size and easy to get around - Cheers and Cruise On!
