Oceanview Cafe dinner service being eliminated?
newtocruiseinblue replied to LMaxwell's topic in Celebrity Cruises
So it's only dessert now? I could get into that. 😁 -
New $9.95 + 18% grat for room service
newtocruiseinblue replied to Elros's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Wow this looks like something could have printed from my home computer. 😆 Guess they were in a rush to get it out. Just another shift I will make to stay within what is included in my cruise price. We typically get room service for port days that we are going on a planned excursion. I will just select items from the continental breakfast menu. Thank you for posting. -
Why doesn't HAL have a Lobster Night?
newtocruiseinblue replied to Reds4life's topic in Holland America Line
It is interesting that you bring this up. We were on Celebrity Reflection last July in the Mediterranean and, on lobster night, our waiter INSISTED on bringing both my dh and I two lobster tails. I felt a little funny getting two, but he insisted, since the size was petite, that we each receive two. He was probably one of the best waiters I have ever encountered. -
Santorini - A review of cable car vs. path walk vs donkey

Are there two paths to walk down? Could that be were the time difference that people are experiencing? -
Captain’s Club Power Up Points
newtocruiseinblue replied to cruisestitch's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I enjoyed the webinar and the look at the new itineraries. -
No but we tip the person that brings it. To note - if you like extra cream like we do (kill it with the cream) - you must request extra cream and be very specific about it. We usually leave the room service request form on our door at night to have it delivered in the morning. Coffee on the veranda is one of my favorite parts of a cruise.

Trying to figure out what stops need a shore excursion.
newtocruiseinblue replied to Stockjock's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Interesting to note (and someone may have done this already) the description of my Ephesus tour says that we have the option of skipping the carpet demonstration at the end and going straight back to the ship. -
Trying to figure out what stops need a shore excursion.
newtocruiseinblue replied to Stockjock's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Let's be real - every shore excursion seems to have a bathroom stop that happens to be at an exclusive leather store in Florence, a limoncello shop in Sorrento, a gift store in Barcelona..the rosary store after the Vatican...even the wine tasting is trying to SELL you something. It is my understanding the ruins at Ephesus are 10 times better than what you will see in Greece. I had a conversation with a physician and his wife once at a party and they are very well traveled. I asked them what was the coolest places they have been and they said the African safari and Ephesus ruins. I have my Ephesus tour booked for this July. Doing Mary's house, Ephesus and lunch at a hotel. Was supposed to do this in May 2020 BC -
I really love the monthly PUP activities. Maybe I'm a nerd but it keeps me engaged. I would NOT watch the celebrity destination videos and events without earning them. This is something celebrity got right and did better than other cruise lines.

Is Celebrity getting a lot more expensive?
newtocruiseinblue replied to slanik's topic in Celebrity Cruises
And demand is definitely going to go down at some of the prices I've seen lately! -

Absolutely! Glad we booked when we did! -
Is Celebrity getting a lot more expensive?
newtocruiseinblue replied to slanik's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Last April, when Celebrity was "Always Included", we started to get the sense that the pricing was going to change sooner rather than later and booked a 2023 summer med cruise. Soon after, they changed their pricing to cruise only and All included rates. We have not seen a better offer than what we have. The biggest savings for us has been booking the flights through Flights by Celebrity as we booked them almost as soon as they were released for about a savings of over $1500 pp than the current rate. We also bought two shore excursions for three people for about $625 that now would cost us over $900. Plan ahead as you can always rebook if prices drop. We would not have been able to afford to squeeze this cruise in if we had waited. -

First cruise :embarkation port Miami
newtocruiseinblue replied to boopuff's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Be careful Uber surge pricing can be expensive. We were going to Uber then decided to use the hotel shuttle for $12 pp and saved $20. -
Yes, absolutely 100% yes, we did a 10-day cruise in the Mediterranean with my daughter over the summer and she had a blast. They will definitely be other kids onboard because it's the holiday season. The kids on her cruise still have a group chat going and they keep in touch. She is a cruiser for life!! No better way to travel. Taking her back on celebrity next summer to Greece and turkey. You don't listen to the naysayers on this board and go for it !

"formal nights" on Holland America?
newtocruiseinblue replied to j3000's topic in Holland America Line
Yes, that is fortunately false. Just did 7-night Eastern Caribbean on NS and most people dressed up for the formal nights and there was a nice splattering of tuxedos in there as well. This was even a bit dressier than our celebrity Mediterranean cruise last July, which surprised me. No wife beaters and my husband felt underdressed in slacks and a golf shirt. -
Just disembarked from 7 night on Nieuw Statendam Eastern Caribbean. For every person on this board that insisted and argued that they wear golf shirt to chic night (and many insisted they wear shorts), there were a large number of people wearing suit jackets, long sleeve shirts with ties and even tuxedos. I saw several women in beaded (even long) dresses. If you don't like to dress up for your vacation, this message is not for you, but for those of us that DO - go for it! Enjoy dressing up and have a glamorous, relaxing evening on board. I didn't bring a jacket, tie or even long sleeve button down for my husband and really felt bad that we did not. Next time I will know better from my own personal experience. Cheers!

Bait & Switch - Itinerary Change
newtocruiseinblue replied to teh3505's topic in Holland America Line
We left Bimini yesterday. The beaches are amazing! We rented a gold cart and did our own thing. Watch YouTube videos about it. It feels more like an eastern Caribbean port not the Bahamas. Take the golf cart down the road and find this little shipwreck behind the cemetery. -
Mine was decent - nice heat. They also provide a make up mirror!
