  1. My Mum has taken that call before now and her response was very big knickers in washing line grey. The line went dead. One of my dearest friends was the night telephonist at the Savoy. She had the voice of an Angel but unfortunately the face of a disgruntled Camel that had been seriously inconvenienced during a rather complicated algebraic calculation. She was utterly superb at playing them. They didn’t ring twice.
  2. You know me M. They’re only Ted Baker but our Berty likes them. Sorry I’ve not spent much time in the cooler lately but I’m currently quite busy picking up the slack. We are currently running on 40% staff so guess who takes up the slack? Had my first night out this year last night. Went to see Chicago but it was very provincial. Sinita was wonderful but certainly lacked credentials when it came to the tit for tat jokes. Currently also 60% through the whole draping my whole cottage in Versace project but will keep you up to date. On that. Pics will follow!
  3. Well we have had the hottest day ever recorded in Wales today and it’s been utterly miserable. My contempt for sunshine has reached new levels. I’ve been praying for sleet and hail followed by a freezing fog but my prayers are yet to be answered. I’ve barely slept for a week. It’s like living In Satans armpit. Visits to the wine cellar (11c) to “check on the stock” have been occurring at 15 minute intervals. My boys are enjoying their new cooling mat but the pup is a real sun worshipper and follows the sun around the room. The cats are in ecstasy whilst I feel like I’m walking through treacle. First spots of rain and I’ll be dancing round the lawn in my vest and underpants. Antartica has firmly cemented itself at the top of my list.
  4. Haha, had to look that one up Host JB 😁
  5. Thanks for the links Jeff, they worked perfectly. Very interesting articles and certainly enjoyed by me.
  6. The property and the gardens looked exquisite. MC seemed a little extreme to me. I’d never been inside a Multi-storey lined in Emperador marble before. Lots of fun though.
  7. We popped our heads in there on our Spirit Med Cruise in 19 but we’re very short of time, we vowed to go back and stay one day. Obviously hasn’t happened yet. We loved Eze. Mr Luxury, Is it as fabulous as it looks? Lola, I think your take on life is delicious.
  8. Sounds like quite a bargain to me.
  9. If you PM me I’ll let you into a secret.
  10. CC has gone so funky. Can’t add any pics from I;ad now xxx
  11. Versace again I’m afraid M. I Think I need counselling. I think I may be the owner of the first top to bottom Versace “cottage” more pics to follow when Versacification is complete. Love u xxx
  12. OH told me I was getting posh dogs tonight. I Wasn’t impressed. I replated and poured myself a Taittainger. He’s still in training.
  13. I’m so happy you took the plunge Capri. Alaska is the most amazing experience. I’m so happy it all ironed out for you. Did you get to see Humpies? I’m not sure we’ll ever sail SS again as I believe that the passenger base has shifted too much for us. I Do hope that we meet up with you somewhere in the world though at some point, I do miss the beautiful and fascinating fellow adventurers that we met aboard the old Silversea before the invasion. Did you ever get the contact details for Amy & Hal? Until we meet again… xxx
  14. It’s digital these days. Not that many that want to read it can navigate a tablet with their severe arthritis. It’s almost as obsolete and cantankerous as the Observer.
  15. I’m certainly not a cheerleader in any way of any line. I am however a pragmatist. I Did take a cruise in January (not SS) despite my friends questioning my sanity for doing so. I Set out upon my adventure not expecting perfection given the current global situation, but with the attitude that I was going to enjoy every available minute and experience as much as I was able to. Setting sail with those expectations, I was pleasantly surprised every day. I Had an absolute ball. Had I set sail with the attitude that I was paying for and expected perfection, especially in a very difficult world then I would have been very disappointed with my holiday. How anybody can expect to have such specific demands met fully on a ship, during the current global circumstances makes me wonder how much they intended to enjoy their cruise at the outset, especially if they have lived in Putney.
  16. I Agree completely TrulyBlonde. I Think I’ll stick with dogs rather than people. They can sometimes be a little picky with their food but rarely provide me with a 6 page rider and then threaten to pack their bags if every condition isn’t met despite a 2 year pandemic, global supply problems and an impending world war. Instead I just get a beefy fart and a pair of spaniel eyes. Perhaps some quite entitled cruisers could try a similar approach? Thank goodness my Spaniels don’t use Cruise Critic. BTW, Please heed my previous (no longer visible) warning on milking boy cows xxx
  17. They certainly do jwh. Most that have made that move have come to regret it.
  18. I’m so sorry to hear that Carol but also so happy to hear that you are still getting to enjoy life. I’m glad you had the memories of Cadiz. What a way to go. I Feel so sad for the many that are still Frightened to leave their homes and are wasting their later years. Some friends of mine have given up driving and don’t go out any more. Some have completely lost their confidence. This has indeed been a wicked illness.
  19. I’m directing my all of my Jedi powers to a holiday successful May you have.
  20. They switched last Autumn Jwh, uk agents have all been dropped.
