  1. HAL posted a new policy yesterday. Here is a section from FAQ: Guests embarking from a U.S. port that does not include Canada in the itinerary: All guests aged two and older who are up to date with their vaccines, i.e., received a booster if eligible, may take their antigen or PCR COVID-19 test within 3 days prior to sailing. If the sailing is on Saturday, the test may be taken on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, and as late as Saturday, if you are guaranteed to receive your results in time for check-in. If a guest is fully vaccinated but not up to date with their vaccines (i.e., is eligible for a booster but has not received one), they must take their pre-cruise COVID-19 antigen or PCR test within 2 days prior to sailing. The test may be taken on Thursday, Friday or Saturday.
  2. What did I do wrong? I sent a request for stockholder OBC for my November cruise on 6/3/2022. No response, so I resent the e-mail on 6/14/22. Still no response. In the past I have had a quick response. I sent the e-mail request to World_Cruise_Reservations@hollandamerica.com.
  3. We have cruised HAL three times since cruising restarted last summer. The only change we noticed is that our room attendants only cleaned the cabin once per day unless we requested twice daily cleaning. No problem for us - they always checked the room twice a day and provided ice and fresh towels. One other big change is the possibility of masks being required. Post covid cruising requires that we be flexible and accept that some entertainment may be cancelled due to covid. Enjoy your cruise.
  4. So sorry your cruise is ruined by Covid. DH and I tested positive 2 days after returning from a May cruise on Equinox. We to were vaxed & boosted and had avoided Covid for 2 + years. We had bad cold/mild flu symptoms for 3 days. Fever 100.5 max. Started feeling better on day 4. I hope your symptoms are mild and don't last very long. Glad you self reported. Unfortunately many people don't. Be sure you get a FCC for the days you are quarantined.
  5. Thank you, so much, for responding to my post! You, and others who responded, have made my planning much less stressful.
  6. We are considering an early 2023 cruise out of Los Angeles on X. It's been many years since we visited La. and have unpleasant memories of LAX and the traffic. We would fly in the day before the cruise and are not interested in sight seeing prior to the cruise. How stressful is it to get transportation to and from the cruise port? Are shuttles and/or taxi's readily available at the port for transport back to the airport? How long does it usually take to get from the port to LAX on a Saturday. Is it better to stay overnight near the airport and uber to the ship the next morning? is Uber reliable in LA? How expensive is it to get back and forth from the airport? Cruising out of San Diego was easy - La. looks like it will be a challenge.
  7. We were on the equinox earlier this month. There are no self service laundry facilities. There is a ship laundry which did a good job, but is expensive. We are X newbies also (10 HAL cruises). I understand that that none of X ships have self service laundry.
  8. How do you report? DH and I got off Equinox on Saturday and tested positive on Tuesday. This was our fourth cruise since August 2021 and the first where masks were not required in the airport or on the ship.
  9. We were in a deck 10 concierge cabin on the Equinox last week. We were mid ship and no obstruction. We enjoyed the embarkation lunch - much quieter than the buffet. Our room attendant substituted a red wine for the sparkling wine and we got a cheese plate every afternoon instead of the afternoon surprise. We were invited to the helipad for the sail away from Key West. We would book concierge again, but I prefer to pick my cabin location rather than risking being assigned a cabin I don't like. Hope you enjoy your cruise!
