  1. Regal Princess is scheduled to arrive at terminal 28. We drive to the port, so don't have any experience with airport transportation. We will be boarding the Regal in Galveston on Nov. 12th. Enjoy your cruise!
  2. We booked a Princess cruise through a Seattle based BB TA on 5/8/2023 and included the Princess standard vacation protection. I made final payment on 7/30/23 to the TA. Today I checked my travel summary on Princess's web site and it showed I did not have the insurance. The TA web site also showed no insurance and that the total for the cruise was $218 (insurance premium amount) less than the amount that I paid. After 2 hours on the phone with the TA, the insurance has been reinstated, but neither the TA nor Princess could explain what happened other than saying the computer systems are not always compatible. I'm glad I noticed the error prior to our November cruise. BTW - effective 8/1/2023 the price of the Standard Vacation Protection plan increased from 8% to 9% of the cruise price.
  3. The safety video will be on your cabin TV. You must watch the video and check in at your muster station prior to sail away.
  4. Someone posted a review with pictures of a balcony cabin (C628) on Sky this morning. You can see the review/pictures on the Princess Cabin Review link. Enjoy planning your cruise!
  5. We have only cruised out of Galveston once and drove the 5 hours the day before the cruise. We stayed in Webster, a 30 minute drive from the cruise port. The morning of the cruise we had a leisurely breakfast (complementary) at the hotel and then drove to the port. There are plenty of motels/hotels in the area for $150 or less. I know that staying overnight is an expense you would like to avoid, but you will start your vacation much more relaxed if you drive down the day before. Enjoy your cruise!
  6. On the Ruby Princess last April, we had a whole bottle of red wine when we arrived in our cabin instead of 1/2 bottle each of white and red. I can't remember the brand, but the wine was better than I expected. I guess it depends on what wine the ship has available.
  7. Following your thread. We will be traveling Hwy 146 in November also. I was not aware of construction in the area. We drove this route in April and did not have any construction delays.
  8. Our 1st Galveston cruise was on Princess this past April. We made advance reservations for the express lot. The confirmation email contained a QR code that I printed (just in case I couldn't access the e-mail). You scan the QR code at the gate. I think there are backup methods (ie- license/credit card) that can be used if you don't have the QR code. Look for discounts on the Galveston parking site. Try "Fireworks23" for a $5.00 discount if you reserve by 7/31. Enjoy your cruise.
  9. It is at the bottom of the first entry on this thread. I am attaching a copy: The responses from the reviews will be copied to a spreadsheet located at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iJDFCtotsFNUvSNFzZ3LXomW95WX7R0svO7JhGRBvpo/edit?usp=sharing. You will be able to filter the data to view it many different ways. Hope this helps.
  10. This past April, DH and I were on the Ruby princess (Sister ship of Emerald) in a M1. (1st Princess cruise) It is not necessary to make dinner reservations when you book Reserve class. We never waited more than 2 minutes to be seated in the "reserved" section of the dining room and almost always had the same table for 2. Even when our preferred table was occupied we had the same excellent wait staff. We ate in the dining room for breakfast, lunch (when available,) and dinner and were very happy with the menu and service. I did not compare the regular MDR menu and the reserve menu, so I can't comment on what the extra menu item was. We have booked another M1 cabin on the Regal for November 2023. Enjoy your cruise!
  11. Oops! I misread the 2023 schedule. Regal is scheduled out of pier 28 for our November sailing. Thanks for the correction.
  12. Regal is scheduled to cruise out of terminal 10. We cruised on the Ruby Princess in April (our 1st cruise out of Galveston) and used the express parking lot which is adjacent to the terminal. It was an excellent choice for us - we walked approximately 300 ft. from the terminal to our car. We are booked on the Regal in November and will use the express parking lot again. Enjoy your cruise.
  13. I had the same issue when looking at Reserve Mini Suites. When I tried it a few weeks ago on Princess, I could put 3 passengers, get the list of available cabins, go back and change to 2 people and still see the cabin list/price. That method is not working now. Today I used a popular online TA system and can get a list of M1 cabins available for 2 people. (I didn't complete the booking, so can't be sure that I could actually make the reservation through the TA system.)
  14. Yes, I use this method on the Princess web site. As others have noted, I have better results finding specific cabins by going through an online TA.
  15. I'm really enjoying your travel journal! I hope you post pictures of your cabin, either here or on the cabin review thread. It appears from one of your pictures that you are in cabin 429, but I can't tell which deck. We will be in B429 later this year and would love to see pictures of the cabin/balcony. Thanks!
  16. I have been able to see available cabins and prices on Regal Princess by selecting 3 passengers instead of 2. After I get to the cabin listing page, I return to the number of passengers page and change it to 2. The available cabins still appear and I am able to select the cabin I want. I have not completed a booking using this method, but at least I can see what is available and the price. BTW, I am looking at Reserve mini suite cabins - not the "lead in" category.
  17. Most comments on this topic relate to deluxe balconies, but I am seeing the same issue when trying to price a specific Reserve class mini suite for a Nov. 2023 caribbean 7 day cruise. Only guarantee cabins appear when I select 2 passengers, but plenty of cabins show up when I select 3 passengers. When I try a dummy booking from a big box online TA, cabins appear for 2 passengers. I hope Princess rethinks this strategy quickly. I am accustomed to paying slightly higher to select my own cabin when I book with HAL or Celebrity. I do not want to book a guaranteed cabin.
  18. I had the same problem and finally clicked on "Princess Cabin Compilation" at the bottom of the spreadsheet. (Spreadsheet link found on the first page of this forum) The spread sheet appeared and can be sorted using the various columns. Good luck.
  19. We just returned from the Ruby P and had requested a shower stool and hand held shower prior to our cruise. We had to ask twice before the shower stool was delivered on day 2, the shower head was changed on day 3. Good luck and enjoy your cruise.
  20. Ship Ruby Class Crown Deck Dolphin 9 Cabin D410 Category M1 Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern - port Connects With Cabin # - n/a Accessible - no Quiet - yes, very Balcony Size - average View - excellent and unobstructed Privacy Issues - Balcony is uncovered and can be viewed by cabins above Wind - none Soot - none Comments: Great location two cabins from mid ship elevators. Sofa is low and hard. Furnishings are dated but functional. Balcony is adequate for two people. I thought I would not like the uncovered balcony, but I rather enjoyed it. We had great weather, so the uncovered balcony was better than I had expected. I might feel differently if the weather had been different. I would book this cabin again. Sorry about sideway photos. I can't find a way to get them upright 😒
  21. We relied on the trip cancellation insurance provided by Saphire. (Med. ins. through Geoblue) We had to cancel a January 2023 cruise when my husband hurt his back and was on pain meds and unable to walk. I filed a claim with the Saphire insurance carrier on 2/6/23 (Federal Ins. Co. -Allianz??) Claim was for the cruise only -no air/hotel. They have repeatedly requested documents that have already been submitted. Another e-mail this morning requesting the credit card statement that has been submitted twice. I think they are hoping that I will give up and go away. I am very disappointed with the claims process and don't think I will rely on Saphire for trip cancellation.
  22. I want to post a review of the cabin from my recent cruise. When I attach a picture (JPG file from my computer) it shows up sideways in the review and I can't figure out how to get it upright. What am I doing wrong?
  23. I'm trying to post a cabin review with pictures, but photos show up sideways when I drag them to the review. What am I doing wrong?
  24. We just got off the Ruby yesterday. Although we requested a hand held prior to our 5 day cruise, I had to ask 3 times before it was finally installed on day 2. The plumber who installed it said he did not have a bracket for it. We tucked it into the grab bar to keep it from dangling into the tub. We were in a reserve mini suite.
