  1. We boarded the Regal on Nov12th and the embarkation was chaos. Disembarkation on 11/19 was also bad - customs required face to face confirmation instead of using facial recognition software. Since disembarkation on 11/19 took so long, I assume embarkation was also delayed. Txnight did a "live" for the Nov. 26th cruise and reported: "Our disembarkation time was 8am. We went down at 7:15 to people watch. Noticed the line was moving so we got in. The line moved good and we were at our car at 8. No facial was used just a quick look at passport."
  2. We were on the Regal last month and other than a few rust spots on our balcony, she is in great shape. The room furniture is somewhat dated, but in good shape. Our mini suite bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed our cruise so much we booked another cruise on her for next month.
  3. Wise choice! Hotels near IAH usually have reasonable rates on Sat. night. On another thread, someone recommended the Marriott which is in the airport so no shuttle is required and u can then take cruise line shuttle on Sunday. Have a safe trip and a great cruise.
  4. Galveston hotels are rather expensive. You may want to consider staying near IAH, at a hotel with free airport shuttle and arranging transportation to the port the morning of your cruise. We are fortunate to be able to drive to the port and stay in the Springhill Suites in Webster, Tx. which is a 30 minute drive to the port. Hope you enjoy your cruise.
  5. Beav1279 and Stosh68 - thank you, so much, for responding! I'm going to book the tour today.
  6. We are considering the Choccoben tour for our January cruise, but I have some concerns about my DH being able to negotiate some of the terrain. He walks with a cane and sometimes has trouble on uneven surfaces. He can walk long distances, but becomes uncomfortable if he has to stand in one place for a long period. Is the walking surface at the ruins fairly level?
  7. We disembarked from the Regal in Galveston, on 11/19/23 at approximately 9AM (took an hour to get from the ship through customs.) There were approximately 30 people already waiting in line to board the ship. I did not see any luggage with them other than carry-ons, so I assume they had dropped their luggage with the porters. If the weather is good when you arrive, I think your plan is doable. Enjoy your cruise!
  8. Ship Regal Princess Class Royal Deck Baja Cabin # B429 Category M1 Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern: Mid ship Starboard Connects With Cabin # N/A Accessible no Quiet: Very Privacy Issues none Wind: Normal, depending on ship movement/weather conditions Soot none Problems: None Comments: This cabin is in a great location near the mid ship elevators. It is one of a few rooms that don't share an entry way with the adjoining room, so no door slamming next door. The angled balcony gave extra room to stretch out. We enjoyed the cabin so much we booked it again for a January cruise. PS: Sorry about the pictures - I can't get them to post upright.
  9. I submitted a request via the e-mail yesterday and got the standard e-mail saying allow 21 days to process. No mention of the Stockperks.app.
  10. We just got off the Regal last Sunday. There are stairs, mid ship, going to deck 16. They are directly in back of the mid ship elevators.
  11. We have used the express lot for our last two cruises out of Galveston and we find it is well worth the extra $. We returned on the Regal last Sunday and walked approximately 200 ft from the terminal to our car. You may have to park a little further than we did, but none of the parking is very far from the terminal.
  12. We just booked a January 2024 cruise while on board the Regal. The list we saw offered 30% off of selected cruises. I think the list was good til January 2024. A month or more ago, someone posted a picture of the list. I think it was part of a live review, but I don't know which one. Good luck and enjoy your cruise.
  13. Read recent reviews about embarkation/debarkation problems out of Galveston. Green line doesn't exist outside of the terminal. I agree with Cruise Raider - 11:00AM. Be prepared for delays unless Galveston changes their procedures.
  14. We were in a reserve mini on deck 11, so I don't have any experience with the cabins on deck 15. It appears that your cabin is directly below the bistro. I would be concerned about noise. The Bistro was very busy on the few times that we visited that area. If it's not too late, perhaps select a different cabin.
  15. The embarkation and debarkation was complete chaos. We arrived around 10:45 and there were long lines of people waiting outside with no handicapped or priority lines. When the terminal finally opened it took a while to get everyone processed. On our return, it took us over an hour from leaving the ship to exiting the terminal. Rather than using the DIY face recognition, everyone had to be seen by one of the 6 agents processing over 3,000 passengers. Nowhere for elderly passengers to sit and no global entry or priority lines. I've never experienced such a disorganized departure or arrival. CC commentors report the same problems on the previous cruise.
  16. Thank you for writing this review. DH and I were on this cruise with you and enjoyed everything but the embarkation and debarkation process. We cruised on the Ruby Princess this past April out of Galveston and had no problems. We live within driving distance of the port and are excited that Princess is now in Galveston. I fear that if the port problem continues, Princess will not fill their ships and will stop serving Galveston. Several on our roll call who flew to HOU/IAH are saying "never again". Can you recommend local port authorities or tourist associations that I can write to about this problem? Is this problem only occurring at terminal 28? if so, any idea why?
  17. Good luck. Lot B may be the best you can do so close to departure.
  18. I just checked too and evidently all the lots are full except the economy lot. Using the discount code Jubilee2023 brought the price down to $115.88. The economy lot has a free shuttle.
  19. DH and I will be joining you on Sunday. We reserved parking in the express lot, which is right next door to our terminal for $133 for the week. I used promo code Jubilee2023 for a $15 discount and I joined the parking "club" for a $5 discount. This lot is more expensive than some, but it sure was nice to walk less than 300 ft to our car after our April cruise. I hope we all have a great cruise. PS: Don't forget to pack your raincoat & umbrella- the weather forecast is not looking good.
  20. Peanut butter pie. it is only served on first day in the buffet.
  21. We will be boarding the Regal in Galveston next month. Looking forward to tagging along on your cruise. Enjoy!
  22. There is also a reserved debarkation area for Reserve mini passengers. On our last cruise it was in one of the lounge areas and had coffee and snacks available while you wait for your turn to disembark.
  23. You can request a shower stool through the medallion app prior to your cruise, or through your cabin attendant once on board. We were in a mini suite earlier this year and had a stool that fit in the bathtub. We had requested it ahead of the cruise, but still had to ask once on board.
  24. We will be in a mini suite next month on the Regal Princess. DH uses a Cpap. Does anyone know if there is a plug under the bed on the Regal? From the cabin pictures I have seen, it appears the only plug is on the desk across the room from the bed. For safety reasons, I want to avoid running an extension cord across the room. I have an european adaptor and a multi plug US type extension with a short cord.
