  1. I am shocked by the previous guests, too, the diapers/nappies (whether adult or infant) must figure into the problem. No excuse, but I sympathize with the stewardess. She has an exhausting job at the best of times, on embarkation day she has to do more in less time. Staff shortages would exacerbate the problem. Great thread you have going here, texanaust. Thanks for posting.
  2. I had a prescription like, wish I'd kept the bottle. Instructions were to take the antibiotic "after fifth loose stool". Almost as good as the instructions to "Apply to feet three times daily during meals".
  3. I liked this paragraph: "Martin and I are horrified when one morning we go out to the deck and find our favourite sunbeds have gone. Where are we supposed to sit? Having been shocked by the excess of placing a daily caviar order, we raise our eyebrows when once it comes 15 minutes late. We laugh at ourselves for being so spoilt yet it’s true that, somehow, amid total luxury we still find things to be dissatisfied with."
  4. I found the Katie Glass review of her Odyssey 14 day Caribbean cruise which Fletcher mentioned: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/cruises/articles/wrong-reason-old-people-travel-way/ I assume the review is behind a paywall. I took out a free trial subscription.
  5. You piqued my interest, Fletcher. I can only find "After two weeks of luxury, I've realised it's the stresses and glitches of my regular life that make me happy". https://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/life/two-weeks-luxury-realised-stresses-glitches-regular-life-make/ The article does not mention Seabourn or Odyssey. Do you have a link to a review? I signed up for a free subscription without finding anything else.
  6. Great live report, nyold, thanks for the photos and all.
  7. We need at least two flights to reach a cruise port, basically a day in airports and planes both ways, no fun at all. Our solution is to take longer cruises. Can I Cruise, if your plan is to cruise six months of the year, perhaps the solution is to stay where you are and take only two or three cruises to reach your half year goal.
  8. Whatever happens, the best you can hope for is that you get what you paid for. Should a new owner return the company to the Seabourn of old, fares will rise accordingly.
  9. Have they checked their scanner/copier? It is surprising how often documents show up in these seldom used devices.
  10. Heidi13's suggestion would be hard to beat. 56 nights on Oceania's Marina would be nice, too. Departs Southampton July 11, 2023 from about $19,000.
  11. Years ago we had carols in the atrium, Santa arrived, presented Holland America backpack presents to children on the main stage while the photographer took pictures for sale. The ship was packed with people, lots of third and fourth beds filled in staterooms. Holiday cruise prices are higher. I would do another if I could get out of decorating the house and all.
  12. I requested local beers in advance of my Seabourn cruise. They provided them, but they were the worst. If I cruise Seabourn again, I will make more specific requests.
  13. Some people take trains cause they really like trains. That's me.
  14. I think this is the show on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N-_LKqEDqw
